I hope you enjoyed this jaunt in the 7th arrondissement! Grab all my recommendations in my guide at parisinmypocket.com and thank you to my Patrons for making this possible from the very start!
I stay in the 7th when I’m in Paris. It’s an easy metro ride or walk to wherever I want to go. There is a closer grocery, rue cler is an easy place to pick up something to eat. Went up the Eiffel Tower once in 2010. It was perfect and no desire to go up again. It was dark and drizzling in late October. Walked from hotel and right up to ticket booth and immediately onto elevator. Now I just enjoy the tower from a distance. Also so easy to find hotel being able to see the Eiffel Tower from everywhere. I just work my way back. Love love Paris. I’m in my 70,s and stop in Paris every trip. Last fall I was there twice. and really enjoy these videos. Thank you.
Hello 👋🏽 I visited Paris in 2017, I had asked my hotel if it was safe to go to the Eiffel Tower around 11pm he said no, two young ladies (back then 😂) should not be around there at those times. I did appreciate the advice.
25 years ago in Paris there was, like ONE sushi place in the 1st, and 2 Mexican restaurants scattered around that were even close to authentic because the French palette didn't like "spicy". Even the Indian places were mild. Fast-forward to today and the availability of diverse AND authentic food is amazing.
French breakfast consist a croissant and a glass of wine!!!! Just spent 3 weeks in Paris and 1week in London and 1 week ibiza. We did not have breakfast during the trip but only drink wine and cocktails. Dinner at Michelin restaurants. They are not expensive as Michelin in the US and they are really good at a fraction of price to pay a meal for 2. Love the foods. That's why we travel, just for food!!!!
I was disappointed that you didn't mention the Rodin Museum. The little park you did refer to briefly is called Square d'Ajaccio. One of my favorite parks in the 7th.
Only so much time for so many places 🥂 But you can find a few other videos I've made at the Rodin museum if you're curious. It's a fantastic one to be sure.
We went up the Eiffel Tower in September 2021 when tourism had just opened back up and it was fantastic. Really our whole trip was fantastic because there were so few tourists. Seems like forever ago.
I had watched your video on the restaurant locale starting to be remodeled just before my trip to Paris and it was a great surprise to see the place was a couple of blocks from where I was staying. Happy to see things are going well.
Just a note to say I miss your old format. I liked actually getting to know who Jay Swanson actually is on any given day. Your videos felt much more personal. I like hearing about future plans & aspirations as well as current work, the struggle to find life/work balance -- the things many of us go through, but with your unique perspective. Other than Paris In My Pocket, what are you working on? Are you still writing? Are you still engaged in your journey of self discovery?
Zia was my absolute favorite, went there the first morning I was in Paris. Staff was extremely nice (despite me being jetlagged and having a tough time adjusting to not being in the US) and the food was amazing
Visiting the Effiel Tower once was enough for me in a lifetime. I'm content with enjoying the view either on line 6 crossing the Seine or from the Champ de Mars or Jardin de Trocadéro. Been loving the 20 in 20 series just to see all the unique places to go off the beaten path next time I'm there. Merci.
Yeah, I went up once and it was… fine? I much preferred going up to the top of the Arc. The great thing about Jay’s videos is that I am now able to *mostly* avoid overtly touristy places in the city. *Mostly*. 😂
Great videos, Jay! I bought your guide a few weeks ago in anticipation for my move to the Paris area in a few weeks! Thanks for all of the great recommendations over the years!
Another fun video. We stayed in the 7th last spring and had a great time which included a wonderful dinner at Milagro. The food was fabulous and we even got to talk with Justin. So glad to hear that Michelin recognized them. Thanks! Love the new 20 in 20.
Jay, you are an amazing blogger! I am becoming addicted to your videos, because you are so personable, funny, intelligent, well spoken and full of information! You’re really really good dude! Keep it up! ❤😁
I don’t know what this says about me but I love it when you feature places I’ve been. 😂 Those floating bars are great fun. Been there with co-workers on a number of occasions. 😎
This title is a great advice, I would advise you to airbnb or get your hotel in the 20th 19th or 15th arrondissement, well connected to the center and very lively places. A walker from Paris.
Nice there's actually someplace good to eat in the 7th... looking forward to you doing the 6th, my favorite. And yes the Eiffel Tower is a bit sketchy at night, particularly around the temporary exhibition hall.
spent a month in paris (and surrounding areas) 2007 as the kid and husband who are videographers were on a job and i was looking after the 2 year old grandson. (now 18 and the only american electric race driver mini car. currently we are in sweden with then. all i know is that i love love love (have only been 3 times) the Eiffel Tower area, and everything about it.
We bought a few towers. Haggling with the vendors, we got a steep discount from what they were asking. We *might* have also accidentally helped a group that was about to pay full price.
Hmm... You'll have to come back. What about St-Francois-Xavier ? What about the monument to Louis Pasteur and the perspective of the Avenue de Breteuil ? Musée Rodin ? Musée d'Orsay ? I know, there is much walking implied...
Hi there! We're working with both as affiliates, and the great thing is that they offer different tours from one other, and we especially love the picnic tour mentioned in this video :)
I hope you enjoyed this jaunt in the 7th arrondissement! Grab all my recommendations in my guide at parisinmypocket.com and thank you to my Patrons for making this possible from the very start!
Thanks Jay for redoing this 20 in 20 series! Loved when you said "Go to the Seine to mingle" and everyone is on their phone. The times we are in!!
😆😆☹️
I remember watching you in that basement in the first 20 in 20 and it’s so good to see what it has evolved into. That steak- mmmm mmmm mmm !
Absolutely delish

Thanks for saying it’s ok to buy the souvenirs. I had no issues.

That was definitely the right time to do it. I think that was the last time I did it (and maybe the last time I ever do it 😆)

They're so good! Definitely check them out!
Bruh, you're living the dream!
1:34 That glass looks superb 🔥

I feel you! Just needed a break from that format. Stick with me a little longer.
I’m gonna be in Paris in 2 days for a week. I’m hoping I see you film a video- love your ability to tell stories while making a “guide”
Thank you so much for this! Hope you love Paris, and have a wonderful time.
Went to the very top and used the restroom up there. To this day we joke about peeing at the top of Eiffel.
😆😆
Zia was my absolute favorite, went there the first morning I was in Paris.

They're so lovely. I'm glad they helped you feel welcome!
Being a coffee lover myself, I’m really happy to see you covering the cafes in different arrondissements! Cheers!
Always here to find good coffee!

Replaced coffee with powdered matcha green tea…game changer for my health ❤❤❤
🥳
7:05 OMG yes I’ve heard of this. It can get sketchy if you’re careful.
Thanks for the recommendation. I’m booked for dinner at Milagro next week when I’m in Paris.
Have fun!
Good to know! 😊 Thanks for your videos!
Great videos, Jay! I bought your guide a few weeks ago in anticipation for my move to the Paris area in a few weeks! Thanks for all of the great recommendations over the years!

Legend says that Jay still hasn’t moved on from the Steak and Purée at Milagro’s.

Wow, thank you!

Says you're happy to see a place you love, to me. Sounds plenty reasonable 🥂
Such a nice episode! Well done.
Thanks!
this video was great! i laughed a few times, thank you!
You're so welcome!

We had a picnic on the Champ de Mars last summer and it was great! Crowds weren't that bad but I have nothing to compare it to. For us, it was okay.
❤as always!
🥰🥰🥰
Cooper Scooter looks like he's doing good!! Glad to see him in the video today.
🤓
Will try to get more of him in there in the future, give the people what they truly want! :D
Who's the music by at 11:21? It's really cool! I'm learning French and will be visiting France soon.
Thanks to this channel, my love for picnics is being rekindled.
It's my pleasure!
Spent one month living on Rue Cler. What a delightful experience!
Such a great street!
Superbe vid 👌
Thanks!
8:53 OMG the view is extraordinary 🔥
Oh there heis❤❤❤❤
"YUM!"
2:12 It’s either café-clope or nothing 🌋
Only six more to go 😢. Are you thinking of doing another series or will that be too much? I definitely want to try the Milagro restaurant. Thanks Jay!
Always more to come!
Reservations made for Milagro - come join me on the 9th!
It's so gooooooood
Say hi to the team for me!
We bought a few towers. Haggling with the vendors, we got a steep discount from what they were asking. We *might* have also accidentally helped a group that was about to pay full price.
😆😆 not sure who to root for here but also well done
I love the title of this video. You have my full attention 😂
Hmm... You'll have to come back. What about St-Francois-Xavier ? What about the monument to Louis Pasteur and the perspective of the Avenue de Breteuil ? Musée Rodin ? Musée d'Orsay ? I know, there is much walking implied...
Just five(ish) per episode 😜
Doesn't mean there isn't plenty more to love (unless we're in the 8th...)
I’ve noticed Jay referencing Fat Tire bike tours lately and not Bike About like before. Wondering why the change.
Hi there! We're working with both as affiliates, and the great thing is that they offer different tours from one other, and we especially love the picnic tour mentioned in this video :)
What was the dessert?
Right, is Cooper turning vegetarian? 😂
He was always 1/4 cow
Hi Cooper!🐶
🐶🥂
... then seeing the flatware handling 😮💨😮💨 no no
10:24 It’s giving me flashbacks to ‘Heartstopper Season 2. #IYKYK

Where is Cooprer❤?
Hi I am new here in Paris, how to get there? In a park? What station to get to that park
École militaire on line 8 should do the trick 👾
