BBC treated him badly as in changing a presenter at retirement age that has had a 30 year stint in the seat but still giving him 2 shows a week to present? Oh and he said multiple times that he was fune with it?!

As you get older, you begin to see your life becoming less and less relevant, because each year brings new heartache as you notice the people you grew up with, friends, relatives and of course celebrities becoming frail and in some cases they pass away. This is part of all our lives sadly, it’s just the way things are.
Steve Wright was a huge part of my younger self and to know he has gone, well it saddens me greatly. As a young working man in the 80’s, I listened to Steve every day in the factory where I did my apprenticeship. I remember how we would all be in hysterics listening to him and his crew take on the many zany characters that brought tears of laughter to my eyes so often. Then in later years, his afternoon show on BBC2, a ‘slightly’ more matured Steve, but with all the warmth and humour intact. Just a wonderful guy in every sense.
I know he was a bit of a tortured soul, as are many who open their hearts so freely and who give so much of themselves to others. I hope he has found peace now, and if there is a god, a heaven, I know Steve will be playing all his favourite hits there for eternity.
    God bless you Steve Wright.

First heard Steve Wright on Radio 1 as a Teenager in the 80's. Moved on with him to Radio 2 and Top of the Pops as well. 53 now and he really was the soundtrack to our lives. Lost many showbiz personalities from my formative years over time sadly but Steve's passing has really hit me! The World of Radio without his voice is something i really don't want to contemplate. Bless you Wrighty and just simply, Thankyou. ❤

The BBC snubbed a man at the top of his game - doing everything right but told he is being replaced as part of an inclusivity agenda ! How was he ever going to come back from that? sadly he never will now. R.I.P Steve.

He certainly did cross the generations! I did not realise she would listen to him on her way to work. She was so sorry to hear he had died.

I listen to planet rock nowadays, but grew up listening to Steve Wright. It was lovely that the evening presenter on planet rock done a tribute to Steve and shared his story of growing up listening to Steve. I just burst into tears at that. Just hit me how much Steve affecting all our lives at some point..Rest in peace.

Steve Wright... an amazing part of my life. Listened without fail to his afternoon show for many years. I'm a seafarer and spent many, many months away around the world. A colleague of mine and I use to play his jingles occasionally when out there somewhere in the world, on whatever we could find, just to make us feel at home. I'm truly knocked sideways by learning of Steve's sudden passing. Strange, that a man I've never met, meant so much... but he did!

Great broadcaster, relating to real people. Sadly missed and his comforting and witty words. BBC again showed they should be hived off, as it does not represent any decency.

They employed him for over 40 years on a fat salary.
      Sounds OK to me.
