- Due to the economy and circumstances beyond my control, I have decided to purchase a 16x32 shed to attact to my existing shed and adding an addition on it to convert to my house.

You and I are the same age, within a few months. When I retired, we sold our condo and made a tidy return. Paid off the condo, bought our house here, and moved ourselves. Our two bedroom one bath house is 980 square feet. Our condo bills were ridiculously high. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1150 square foot condo. It was almost $200 for electricity, $240 for condo fees. Internet was another $160. Our payment was $870. Property taxes had just gone up to $2300 per year, so almost another $200 per month. Now our electric is about $120. No condo fees, our electric and water/sewer is about $70. Property taxes are $760 per year. Internet is about $90. Gas is about 40 cents a gallon less here, too. Being retired now, I don't put hardly any miles on the car any more. When I was working, it was 50 miles a day. Our car and home insurance is less than half what it was there, and crime is so much lower it's almost insignificant. The big city is NOT where you want to be when SHTF. I've been subscribed for a long time, since the days of the old RV, as you probably remember. Can't wait to see the videos of the new house build. I wish you and Gail all the best.
Joe, adapting will allow you some flexibility which is always good.
Spot on Joe
👍
I think that is a wonderful idea and you can work on the inside to get it how you want. I remember a long time ago didn’t you get a shed and were going to convert it but at the time they didn’t allow it so you sold it but then a few years later they changed the law . Unless I’m remembering wrong. You could have had your house ready by now if they would have allowed it back then. I’ve seen lots of nice shed to house homes.
A couple of thoughts! If you built the additions a foot or two narrower than the shed that you're purchasing, you could set them right up against the building and a roof line wouldn't have to match. You could have them flush. Also I'm sure you know but once you get to framing in all the windows doing all the wiring and the plumbing and insulating and sheetrock. That's a lot of work. Don't underestimate how long that could take and how much money it could take. I'm just a couple of years behind you and contemplating similar things. I'll be watching and good luck on your journey!
Joe, I think you are headed in the right direction, and you will get it done. Once you move in it will be easy to finish your projects.

I spent a lot of time designing a home that uses my 35 year old trailer as the starting point. Literally build a home addition over the top of the trailer. Permanent foundation and double the size of the living room. When I’m done you will not be able to notice there is a trailer underneath.
We hit 90° here in North west Pennsylvania today love the heat gardens loves it to its growing wild, good to see you joe hang in there buddy
Think heating to joe need to have it heatable with all those different additional areas
There will always be one thing in our lives that'll never change no matter is who president or who is in charge of what and that is *Change n Changes* They are unstoppable
Your a wise man Joe ❤😊
+@Cindy9043atyahoo Thank you so much!
I’m 68 so I’m good at just remodeling mine
Summertime is almost here yes, but certainly not anywhere near normal weather so far. We haven't had this kind of heat 'n humidity since '94, and don't forget that awful summer of 1988. Let's hope THAT jackball doesn't try that again!
That sounds great plus it’s already built
It Will be 102 degrees on Saturday in Oklahoma and 107 on Sunday
Our cabin is 520 plus a loft it’s good for both of us
Joe, there's this *Vacation Bungalow Resort* southeast of you with aII kinds of sheds. They pretend it's a *bugout* Iocation, but we know better. Today, a shed with a porch the length of the buiIding pulled in and the comment crowd went crazy!!! One would think they owned property where they are parking these sheds of every color and design!!! No one is quite sure what they are going to do with aII the *liquid waste* as of yet, but the Big Guy probabIy has an idea...L0L lt certainIy has been liveIy and the *peanut gallery* is out of controI, waiting for renovations to start inside, which onIy happens when they are not given jobs to compIete by the *Blg Guy during their once a month gathering!!!* It may be an interesting place to checkout for ideas :)))
The shed to house plan sounds great. That is what I would like to do someday soon. I will be watching to see how you get all the inspections required for occupancy.
+@thesurvivalistfarmer Fortunately, in my area, I have no inspections required on anything but the septic. I just pay a $5 permit and build it. No electric or plumbing inspections either.
@@StBernardAcres Sounds like your county respects your right to build as you please without government permission.
You speak the truth can't get ahead no more you can barely stay afloat I had a car accident August of last year I've been out of work underneath medical doctors and orthopedic doctors my wife's income Bailey pays the bills and all the savings we had here are gone now
😢
Don't quit the gas station, Joe. It will cost you more to finish off the inside than to build the outside! Gail won't let you sell the Wheeling house till the shed is done to her liking!
Joe, I’ve been a follower for years and hope everything works out, but I think heading further into debt is a bad idea. You’re banking on being able to pay everything off when you sell your house, but who knows what the housing market will do the next couple years. Not trying to be negative, just realistic. Regardless, I’ll be here watching and enjoying your videos!
What are you going to do with all the house panels you built in the barn? i thought you had a whole house worth of windows? I thought you had it all but the trusses?
+@garypennazoli6924 I’ll use all the windows and doors in the building being delivered and the addition. Most of the material can be used on the interior or in the barn. Nothing is going to waste. I need trusses and all the metal for the roof. Plus the labor for the installation. I don’t do roofing anymore.
We had a new roof put on last year 9 grand
Joe I'm your right I'm 66 my dad use to to say time.. time ..time!!
Sounds like you have a good plan and realistic solution to be prepared for the uncertain times coming our way. FJB and TRUMP 2024
I don't under stand the shed you had when I first started watching this channel the county said No so how is this shed ok?
