      Could definitely use a set of headlights for my 98 XJ. I have the K suspension wiring in the mail. Didn't get the headlights yet though. Slow but you're only have a 3-inch lift for now going to go to a 4.5 Rusty kit and a set of 35. Going to be in my winter project. Thanks a lot for the chance

    Love my 98.
    1998 was the best year of the XJ. Change my mind.

      Agreed. I have two of them.

    • @OutJeeping

      I believe in the 99, 98 for second chose. Last year of the 0630 head and hp dana 30. Has the new intake manifold, new injector style, shorter roof rack system, vacuum actuated HVAC blend door system.

    • @ColoradoMoe
      @ColoradoMoe 3 роки тому

      @@OutJeeping Ah yes the 99. The things I dont like about the 99 are both the intake manifold as well as the new injectors.
      The intake manifold has the tendency to collect debris around cylinder #3. This has been the culprit to many engine fires.
      The new skinny sparkplugs are prone to heat soak. Jeeps fix was to wrap them in insulation because it was cheap. Had they reverted back to the old plug (and made them 3 hole) everything whould have been so much better.
      What I do like about the 99 over the 98 is the split design of the exhaust manifold. They seem to crack a lot less.

    • @OutJeeping
      @OutJeeping  3 роки тому

      @@ColoradoMoe actually the 2000 and newer Cherokees had the split exhaust manifold design. I have heard that very late 99 models had that as well but I have never seen any in person. Mine still has the one piece header design. And with that split manifold design and often came with pre catalytic converters which came with its own set of issues primarily with the heat soak. But with the 99 model I have the smaller injector body does not have any heat soak issues, and I've never ran into any engine fires LOL. But yet I keep my engine bay looking clean and wash it at least once a year.

    • @ColoradoMoe
      @ColoradoMoe 3 роки тому

      @@OutJeeping I love dumb XJ facts lol. The 99 I had must have been a late production because it had the split design. When I bought it there was oil soaked debris by cylinder #3. I too keep my engine bay clean, sometimes it's cleaner than my interior. I still hold that both injector designs are absolute trash. The first thing I do to my XJs when I get them is an upgrade to the 12 hole injectors. Most of my jeeps still run 6 hole injectors but that's all there was back then.
      As far as the intake manifold argument well... I have yet to see any hard numbers that prove that it makes more power but it sure is prettier. If I was to port match my manifold I guess I would pickup a newer style but out of the box, no.

    Your videos have helped with EVERYTHING I have done to my 2000 2WD so far! From the oil sending unit, to the AC compressor and fan clutch, your videos are always so clear cut, informative and help me get everything done that I need to. I knew NOTHING about cars when I first bought my Jeep, and now because of you and your channel, I'm able to a lot of the issues my Jeep has myself without always having to run to my mechanic an hour away and spending hundreds of dollars for him to fix it. These headlights would benefit me greatly as my current headlights are burning out, you can barely see at night with them, and my XJ is my daily driver as I am an independent contractor. I plan on passing this Jeep down to my younger brother in 2 years once he graduates (he doesn't know, its a secret), and my family and I want to turn it into a rock crawler for him that he can build and flip the drivetrain on. I'm so thankful for you and your channel and I'm always so excited to watch your videos.
    (Posted it here because I realized I put it in the wrong spot. 🤦)

    Good evening. I replaced my IAC and tps sensor over the weekend and Its still idling at 1000-1100 rpms.
    Before replacing the sensors, my 2000 xj 4.0 had a fluctuating rpm at idle between 750 and 900 rpm’s . So I cleaned the throttle body and IAC and reinstalled it. I did remove the IAC valve body from the throttle body itself, to find out the gasket isn’t made anymore. So upon getting 50/50 info on forums, I used rtv to make a very very thin seal. I then got the high idle. It then threw codes. So I replaced the two sensors, and that’s when the high idle started. I reset the pcm before starting the jeep. The jeep came to operating temperature and I drove it over 40mph for over ten minutes.
    I also recently smoked my evap system. So no known evap leaks. I looked over the intake where I was working to make sure no evap lines came loose or cracked. I found nothing.
    Other than the rtv used, what else could be causing the high idle still. I did get some rubber-fiber gasket paper to replace the rtv. I’ll be doing that very soon.
    Any advice would be helpful.

    I needed a vehicle and a old lady next door had a 99 cherokee limited 4.0 aw-4 in red just like the one in your videos for a long time that my dad tried buying many times and she eventually wanted to upgrade so I got money together best I could in high school and I put a 3 inch short arms lift on it and have took it everywhere it would take me. I bought a 95 4.0 as well to repay my dad for letting me get the Jeep he wanted and me and him are building both jeeps as a father and son project to wheel together. His jeep really needs headlights but budget is tight with corona going on and I think these would put a smile on his face. I have always been a mechanic since I was 13 (built an engine at 15) and this channel really helped me learn things that I didn't know about jeeps. I learned enough that a jeep shop job opened up and I took it to farther expand my Jeep knowledge. But even on the job I needed some help and guess who's channel I turned to for tutorials. I worked with this shop till it went under. My love for jeeps started with you're videos and has helped me and my dad so much and we continue to learn more about jeeping. We hope to see many more videos and enjoy the love of wheeling together soon. I am trying to save up for frame stiffeners and going 7075 aluminum wj steering and long arms on 4.5 inches of lift and my dad's is gonna be a 4.5 inch short arms. Thank you for the awesome videos and please continue to help us jeepers out by helping us learn more.

    I got my first Xj in February this year halfway through paramedic academy as a replacement for my dodge pickup daily since it started throwing codes. Unfortunately the guy I bought it from was very skeevy, turned off some warning lights and such and on the 2 hour drive home it broke down, and of course when I called him about it he cussed me out. So anyways a simple commuter turned into a real pain in my a**. So I didnt really have a choice but to slowly fix it up, which is how I found your channel! Your videos are so complete and concise I can have it playing in real time next to me while I copy it on my own jeep. Im happy to say though once i got it running well and smoged its been a joy to work on and I've given it some decent offroading capability in the course of it all. Finally trusted it to take up to the locals trails and she's running like a dream for now.. besides the fact that the headlights aren't sealed!! The left one finally dried out but the right one still has water in it. I wired up a couple pod lights for now but a new pair of headlights would be perfect!

    I just bought my first xj about a month ago, within that month I’ve already put in a new piston, replaced the exhaust manifold (thanks to you btw) and already had to figure out why it was cranking and cranking and not starting. I’d be blessed to win these headlights since I already broke my light bar before I really even got to use it. Thanks!

    My jeep is a ’93 XJ country model. It started off 2WD and I converted it to a 4WD, lifted it 3”, and stuck some 31” tires under it (saving up for 33s). It’s my first car and I love it, but it sure does keep me busy. I’d love those headlighrs because my stock lights aren’t very bright and when offroading at night it’s a bit hard to see, especially at normal driving speeds on dirt roads when potholes can pop out of nowhere. There’s also a lot of deer around here that like to run out into the road at night. Your videos are some of my favorite to watch when I can’t work on my jeep because they’re really educational and entertaining, especially when it’s about a part I need to replace on my own XJ.

    I purchased a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ and I’m new to Jeeps. Basically, thanks to you and your videos I’ve been watching your videos to help me with updating my Jeep, from fluids, tuneup, to the suspension and a 4.5 inch lift kit I installed 2 weeks ago, your simple but instructional videos have helped me update it little by little, I will be doing the headliner and visor with the help of the two videos you made. I just purchased a tps sensor too after watching because my car has a slight surge and think it might be the TPS sensor. My favorite Jeep UA-cam channel. Thanks for your videos I appreciate them.

    Yo, my name is Thomas and I’ve got a 91 xj. I bought it a few months back for 600 from some guy in the middle of the woods. He listed it saying it had a bad transmission which was perfect since I’m going to swap an ax15 into it, but as we were looking over it, we realized it had a bad head gasket as well. This didn’t surprise though since it has close to 300k miles. I’m going to the junkyard this coming week to see if I can find some Dana 44s or 60s maybe even a transmission. I also plan on getting these sick fender flares to widen the fender flares out by 2 1/2 front and back, and about 3 up. That’s all my current budget allows for but my future plans are to get it painted a nice dark silvery grey and the flares a matte or flat black. I’m also going to be getting a diy bumper with wench carrier and a stinger. Still gotta practice my welding for that though lol. Back to the fenders, I thinking of rhino lining them but I haven’t decided 100 percent yet on that. The cool part with them widening them so much is I can have a lower center of gravity instead of going all the way to a 8 inch lift to fit 38s. It will also give me the exact look I’m going for which is aggressive and high but not in the sky, high. After I get my axles, trans, lift and paint done I plan on putting an upgraded audio system in it with 2 pairs of component and tweeter speakers and a 12 inch sub by JL. having these headlights will give a broke college student 1 less thing he has to buy, and these headlights would look awesome once I get my Jeep looking cosmetically good. I’ve used yours and many other jeep channels guides to help me learn and understand what I’m doing and all I can say is thanks and keep up the amazing content!

    I received my 99 xj from my grandparents when I turned 16 a few months ago and one of my first projects was to replace the headliner that was sagging. That was where I first found your channel, the clear and concise instructions in your headliner video were great and you gave me the confidence to know that I could actually work on my Jeep. Since then with the help of your videos I’ve replaced a window regulator, spark plugs, and front brakes. Currently im working on a few projects to spruce up the look of my Jeep such as trimming the fenders and bed lining the lower portion of the body. A new pair of headlights is on my to-do list as the ones I have now are stock and don’t work very well. I try not to drive at night and if I have too I never take off my brights as they are dimmer than most peoples low lights. Thank you for your content it has helped me more than you can imagine!

    I have an 01 XJ that my 12yr old son and I have been building up for his first vehicle. As it sits, its on a 6in lift and 35s, locked front and rear, and a custom front winch bumper that he learned how to weld on last year when he was 11yrs old. He's been itching to learn more mechanically and he loves to drive it around my dads farm in the fields. We've taken to an offroad park where he was been learning to wheel with it on some small obstacles. He would be so stoked to win these lights! We enjoy your videos and he watches them to learn more about working on "his" Jeep. Thanks for the great content!

    Building a 89 Xj. I'm having some crazy transmission issue right now. It keeps going in and out of overdrive at highway speeds. I checked the TPS sensor already and adjust it. I installed new shift solenoids, adjusted the kickdown cable for the transmission and it's still happening. Even with the gears changing randomly on the highway I love my jeep. I have had my XJ for almost a year now, it's a 99 Classic. I have basic eBay LEDs now, but the addition of the turn signals in the head lamp would really give me a much better look. My XJ is pretty stock otherwise so anything to improve the look will get me on my way. I am not very mechanically inclined, so the videos have been a huge help helping me tackle some of the jobs I have had to do in the driveway, opposed to sending her to the sop. First off love the channel, you've help me out with my build A LOT, with your videos there are still a ton of your videos I have to watch but so far I've watched about 10 of your "how to" videos and you're very detailed which helps out soo much most people that do how too just do it and then show you after, you show us the whole process which is great, so thank you, doing my rear main next and if it wasn't for you I would've started taking my whole transmission and transfer case out... so thanks! lol
    My build is a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 I've always wanted an XJ since I was a kid, and 6 months ago I finally got one for a good price I got it running and it drives great I've replaced most of the sensors, almost the entire fuel system... which wasn't fun. Upgraded heim joint steering, and track bar bigger wheels and tires but still working on the rear as I just haven't had the time. But everytime I go on traiIs, which is mostly at night, I can't see anything! So I've been looking into headlights and I saw these and wanted them but I haven't had the money yet to get them! So if I could win these that would be so awesome! If not I'm probably going to get them anyway, it'll just be a bit till then, Lol but hopefully I win them!
    Thanks again for the great/helpful content keep up the great work!

    Hey, we (me and son) enjoy your videos. Our most recent work on a 1991 XJ Laredo was the valve cover gasket as well as waterpump, thermostat w/housing. Took us all day but we had a great time. Next? Not sure. I'd like to redo the front and rear suspension. The leafsprings are shot. Thanks again for the help via video!

    I have a ‘99 xj that I’ve been slowly working on replacing parts making it better whenever I can. I had got some led headlights but noticed one doesn’t always turn on, so winning those would be amazing
    I can’t wait to see more on that J10 though! Such a badass looking ride

    Got a 2001 xj. Started getting some rough idle and high rpms and your videos were helpful in narrowing down what the issues might be. Still figuring it out though since I am relatively new at doing my own auto repairs. I have replaced the spark plugs and IAC but the issue is still there. The code it gives me is P0505 so I'm thinking about checking everything out around the throttle body. Interestingly, the issue gets worse over time but then kinda subsides when I reset the ECU. Anyway, I enjoy your videos! Thank you!

    I’m enjoying your videos. I have recently purchased a 2001 xj sport. It has already been modified with about a 6” lift, 30.5 gal offroad gas tank, a few 3-core radiator with high flow pump (I may change the radiator and pump because there’s a little overheating on hot days at idle). I may go back to a stock radiator or use a 3 or 4 core with a wider fin spacing for better air flow...still deciding. This is my first Jeep so I’m still learning but I have quite a bit of experience with performance cars/trucks. I may sway a small block and trans. and a long arm setup. First, I need to lower my gear ratio to 4:10 or most likely a 4:56 as I already have 31” tall tires. Anyway, it’ll be on a chassis dyno before I decide the ratio. LED headlights will be added for better visibility, as well.
    I like your explanations and may get a molar tps like you used because I notice the beginnings of idle speed variations.
    Thank you for your videos so I can learn more.

    I just found your channel today and love it! Thanks for the uploads. I'm not much of a mechanic by any means so your uploads are greatly appreciated. I have a 2000 XJ, 4 door, standard that I absolutely love, plus she's red too! It has been the best vehicle I've ever owned. Mostly stock, but I've changed the rad and heater core....heater cores suck...upgraded the muffler and rear shocks, plus routine maintenance. I'm the second owner and will never sell her. The lights would be a great addition to my girl, but even if you go with someone else....thanks for your channel bro! I've liked and subscribed for my own selfishness, watching your how-to's will make my life easier lmao.
    Cheers from The Great White North!

    Before a serious Jeep owner buys any cheap Chinese LEDs, I would suggest they take a ride in a Cherokee XJ with real Truck-lites. If you notice the brightness, depth and cutoff of the real solution, you will be disappointed with anything else. Eagle makes a good product too.
