That orc had to kill Boromir from afar because he was too much of a coward to face him head on. Boromir would’ve killed 100 more orcs if it weren’t for Lutz nailing him from a distance.
Orcs have no honour their mindless creatures only bred to destroy. Lurtz was probably just following instructions to get the ring and did not want to risk things in A 1 on 1. He could of still killed boromir but it be risky. Boromir Not aragorn or Eomer's equal but he still a great warrior.
I mean, if I was Lutz & I just saw this man cut down dozens of my brethren in battle. Yeah I would have shot him from afar too with bow. Lutz was wickedly callous though, smart not to test Boromir in melee.
Who ever figured out the shot for this fight scene is unreal at their job. The scroll over the landscape that hand to hand combat. Its Just epic and nothing has matched it to this day!
A very, very, very, very wonderful movie that conveys to us that good always triumphs over evil. I watched it, 55 times without getting tired. I love it so much🥰😘
I love that, when he raises the sword to his face, it feels like one last prayer. One last moment of humanity and call to powers greater. Aragon is a poet, a healer, a true leader, his heart yearns for peace and the safety of all men. He’s a warrior by necessity, his true heart lies elsewhere. And we see him here, going from being solemn, vulnerable and open with Frodo, the panicked “go! RUN!” He wasn’t sure in that moment. But soon as frodos made some distance, he slowly falls from his poetic, human heart, into the warrior he needs to be. It’s a silly comparison, but, I work with kids, and no matter what emotional turmoil I may be enduring at home, soon as I enter through the doors to school it’s left at the door. I feel this is a similar moment, he’s forcing himself to abandon the emotion right now, and focus one thing, fighting long enough to ensure Frodo gets away. I don’t think survival was on his mind, well, not his anyway
I dont care what anyone says, this is the best scrap in the whole of lotr. Borimer goes out like a fucking ledgend. It may only have been a pg, but thats the most badass warrior scene ever.

For the first time I realized Merry and Pippin believed they were about to die as well, you see the full adrenaline ignite in them as they realized Boromir had fallen and grabbed their swords to protect him and themselves
For fixing the false thoughts. -Aragorn arrived lurtz alone because they were split to find boromir quickly. -Aragorn stood alone against uruks because all he wanted was making time to frodo for escape. -Before boromir appears, an uruk tried to kill mary and pippin instead of taking them alive. It is because of that uruk was an idiot.
Merry and Pippin distracting the horde is another great part of this scene. As Balin says in the Hobbit: “It never ceases to amaze me, the courage of Hobbits”
Anyone else notice how the only two things who actually seemed to threaten Aragorn in a one-on-one fight were Lurtz (the Uruk-hai that killed Boromir) and the Troll Captain in Return of the King? Lurtz actually gave me a lot of respect for the Uruk-hai from that alone. I always thought they were the most badass of the three types of orcs (orc, goblin, and Uruk-hai).
Borormir may have tried to steal the ring from Frodo and likely kill him to get it, his efforts to protect Merry and Pippin were tremendously honorable. On some level Lutz, the Uruk-Hai who fired his arrows upon him, respected Boromir on how he continued to fight until he could no longer stand.
Boromirs death was his last stand . He tried to take the ring from Frodo for his father deanthor . But when the orcs killed boromir I knew in my head taking the ring was his most biggest regret
I know that everyone talks about Boromir in this scene, and it certainly pays tribute to his strength and determination even despite his moment of weakness, but I can't help by be utterly amazed by Aragorn boldly striding towards an entire platoon of orcs, sword raised in a defiant salute in front of him, fully willing to die if necessary just to buy the hobbits enough time to escape. The entire trilogy really captured the essence of his character from the books: the living embodiment of loyalty, bravery, and honor.
Aragorn and Legolas were the MVPs in this scene. After Boromir blows his horn, its his show. But before thst Legolas aka *LINK* are Aragorn were just super saiyans!!!!
I’ve been a fan of these since I was a lad. My mother, hates fantasy movies. She loves “real” movies, what she means is historical, biopics, or period dramas. Nothing fantastical. I convinced her after many years to watch these with me, and she thoroughly enjoyed them. The one moment that stuck out to me was boromirs death. The entire movie she was being rather harsh towards him, which makes sense he’s the most flawed of the fellowship. Thinking that he was “evil” when he went for the ring on the mountainside and cheered for Frodo when he escapes boromir, saying “get away he’s gonna kill you for it!”. Well, when boromir rises again, I heard a slight sniffle from her. And as he’s on his knees panting and looking up at the hobbits she quietly said “stay down butt, you’ve done your bit” (meaning your part, also, butt is Welsh slang for friend), then he got back to his feet and for a moment I think she believed he’d survive. She cried when Aragon did. I cried when she did.
So most people don't know, that the orc who threw the knife 8:25 , was a real one! Yes Aragon deflected a real knife..............WHAT A REAL LEGEND. LITTERALLY the definition of AUTHENTICITY!!! peace✌
Hold up did merry and pippin tackle that orc (and then stab him) in the exact same way they tackled boromir during their play fighting earlier in the movie? I never noticed that before it’s honestly such a great detail!
Too few mention what Merry and Pippin did in this scene. Understandably, a lot is said of Aragorn's noble rejection of the Ring and Boromir's redemptive sacrifice... but Merry and Pippin drew a massive horde of Uruk-hai away so that Frodo could escape unseen.
Elendil (Quenya: [ɛˈlendil]) is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's legendarium. He is mentioned in The Lord of the Rings, The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. He was the father of Isildur and Anárion, last lord of Andúnië on the island of Númenor, and having escaped its downfall by sailing to Middle-earth, became the first High King of Arnor and Gondor. In the Last Alliance of Men and Elves, Elendil and Gil-galad laid siege to the Dark Lord Sauron's fortress of Barad-dûr, and fought him hand-to-hand for the One Ring. Both Elendil and Gil-galad were killed, and Elendil's son Isildur took the Ring for himself.

Greatest self vindication of all time. We all can relate to you Boromir at certain point in our lives. We have our own demons also.
Self vindication? How?
I never noticed that crazy statue behind lurtz when hes srawing the bow on boromir...
This is the extended version amazing how much that was cut out in each movie...
Merry: “Why are you blowing the horn?”
Pippin: “Are you calling for help?”
Boromir: “No. I am sounding the dinner bell. *And the foods on me.”*
Aragorn and Legolas were the MVPs in this scene. After Boromir blows his horn, its his show. But before thst Legolas aka *LINK* are Aragorn were just super saiyans!!!!
Sean Bean just kills it in every role.
And gets killed in every role aswell
He killed 30 of those beast! Boromir is the man
I never realized until nkw that you hear "Aragorn" and "Elessar" when Aragon reaches for the ring! Great attention to Detail
amazing sequence... one of the best scenes of the movie in terms of action... wow..
Heard the knife deflect by Aragorn was real...not practiced. Love this movie.
Boromir, proud of you man! But also a bit ashamed you were killed by Snooki.
Holy fuck i forgot how good this film was
Fantastic that Frodo got away
Seeing the trio of Aragorn Legolas and Gimli wrecking the hell out of a bunch of orcs was always my favorite part of these movies.
He find out the king for himself at the last stand, R.I.P Boromir, impressive character in my opinion
So most people don't know, that the orc who threw the knife 8:25 , was a real one! Yes Aragon deflected a real knife..............WHAT A REAL LEGEND. LITTERALLY the definition of AUTHENTICITY!!! peace✌
Boromir the greatest last stand off all time
This scene is always a core memory from the first time I watched this movie in the mid 2000’s
Cinematic masterpiece
Merry & pippin tag teaming is the best
Sometimes I forget how fucking good these movies are
Hold up did merry and pippin tackle that orc (and then stab him) in the exact same way they tackled boromir during their play fighting earlier in the movie? I never noticed that before it’s honestly such a great detail!
Too few mention what Merry and Pippin did in this scene. Understandably, a lot is said of Aragorn's noble rejection of the Ring and Boromir's redemptive sacrifice... but Merry and Pippin drew a massive horde of Uruk-hai away so that Frodo could escape unseen.
Lurtz was such a beast of an Urik Hai.
one of the best gangster scenes out of all the films
Aragorn is so cool :D
Boromir dagger throw is a top candidate for best kill in this series
Boromir's death definitely the saddest death in the series hands down 😔
Dark Souls and Elden Ring make me feel like Aragorn fighting all dem orcs, EVERY TIME I PLAY THEM!!!!...
What does Aragorn yell when he jumps on top of the uruks at 2:08. Does he yell Elendil?
Yep he yells Elendil
His ancestors, Elendil
Rest at peace son of gondor
Aragorn's skill with a blade prevails over lurtz's strength
Gimli is a tank.
Ahhh that first horn blow. 🫡
