I just love the way those wonderful Tories are helping the energy company cartel's shareholders to keep up bumper profits by loaning the taxpayer £200 (out of their own taxpayer money) to pay the extortionate prices while giving the shareholders a big boost to profits in October. Which will leave the taxpayers with a £200 debt so that they will struggle even more in the following years. Yet they present this as a generous gift to taxpayers. Genius! you have to admit the Tories are extremely good at ripping off the taxpayer and presenting it as a good thing.

It's actually WORSE than a loan, because for the average Joe in the same living situation then and now it'll just be like a loan where you get a reduction now and pay it later, but for those who are living in a situation where they don't pay utilities right now, say people living with parents, they do NOT get a £200 reduction as they have no bill this year. But if they move out and start paying their own utility bill next year they will have to pay the £200 they didn't get in the first place! The married couple who are together now get a total of £200 off this year, but next year when they divorce and live separately they BOTH need to pay "back" £200 for a total of £400. Excellent policy making as far as the Tories are concerned, an excuse to take £200 from every "new" household next year for nothing.

Repaid more than in full actually, you can be a first time buyer buying a new build home after the "not a loan" is given out, never be personally given or benefit from said "not a loan" and must pay it back from your new property as it is written currently. Anyone else doing this it would be called theft.
You also do not need to get interest for something to be a loan. Islam forbids interest loans as you are profiting out of others not having enough as it is on a moral justice side of things.

Which makes it a loan! If it was a rebate as the idiot in the video says, then we shouldn't have to pay it back. The bonus (not for us though) for the Government is that every household has to pay the levy, meaning that people who were not paying the gas/electricity bill as the time of the so called 'rebate' (for example, your children residing in the family home) and then move into their own place in the next five years, they will have to pay the levy even though they never received the initial £200! The government are likely to get more back than they paid out because of this. I personally do not want the £200 as I foresee the prices going up even further over the next 18 months - 2 years and this levy the government are adding on is just going to make the bill more expensive. That is, if Sunak doesn't use the levy as an election 'gift' by opting to cancel it just before the election in 2024.

Mismanagement by Westminster cannot continue. It’s time we dissolved the U.K.

This is like the Question Time of old. We need much more of this.
These people are shameless, defending the indefensible and we shouldn't let them get away with it any longer.
None of the "measures" brought in by Sunak will help the most "vulnerable."
There's nothing to help those on U.C. who don't/can't work, other than the "option" of being starved back to work.
Hopefully, there's a big and deserved kicking in the offing on the 5th of May.
Not that it'll do us any good. These people just don't care!

If you receive something (Or - be clear about this: even if you DON'T CLAIM IT) you have to pay it back, regardless.
It's a loan. He's playing semantics with the people who are going to vote for him.
I suspect the election in 1 month's time is going to be a very large shock.
The opposition may be appalling right now but even THEY are a better alternative than the deliberate malice being given by the Tories right now.
