Happy I came across your channel!
Tape the exhaust ports off on the head to keep metal dust and shavings out of the head.
Yeah I thought of that afterwards :D Good tip for anyone else watching though
J.R. Rip cylinders walls. Lol
Eh, it'll be alright, I scotchbrighted the walls anyway lol
Also spark plug holes
I've watched so many of ericks videos for a while now. It's cool to come full circle on your video.
I don't think we're talking about the same Erik lol.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer oh! Not this guy?
ua-cam.com/video/PGpFiFKY2Xo/v-deo.html
Hope you covered the exhaust ports while cutting. Dont chance it...
Nope, didn't cover a thing
Ur are absolutely rite it is not hard it's fun as hell if u like building bad ass engine. And if u dnt y the heck u watching this channel. U tha man JR!
Tanks
Dang lots of metal in those cylinders 😂
It's only been running for 5 years that way
@@TheDrivewayEngineer I get it. Never gonna waste time or money. Why are people wasting time and money on stuff they don’t need because they might use more power later.
J.R. That pep talk at the end was awesome! I’m looking into starting a swap into my 1985 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I have a budget of about $2500 and have started looking around at the local yards. I’ll be following your videos closely thanks!
Wow, I appreciate the kind words!
And full sized Jeeps are the best! I'd love to have an LS powered one to putter around in!
I head to my local yards once a week, I always chat with the guys and sometimes I give them donuts or tacos lol, they'll usually hold something for me now if they know I'm looking.
Cold ass hell in Michigan ☃🌬
Yeah I don't miss those days lol.
I had a 77 step side hugger orange body with flat black hood little 383 stroker in it ran great was a powerhouse out of the hole I had to sub to ya love the trk man brings back old memories 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That's awesome!
I've had a few of these trucks over the years, but most were back when they were 500 beaters, and I was pretty unkind to them.
Daryl is a keeper though!
You are getting metal particles inside your engine.
Awesome video..BTW love the shop heater / oven....
+BADAZZ93STANG that's my ten or fifteen dollar powdercoating oven lol.
It was actually really nice when I picked it up, but I thought I didn't need to tie it down and it went tumbling down the highway 😂
J.R. Damn...I'm surprise it worked after tucking and rolling...
J.R. What powder coating machine do you have?
Sorry I missed your reply, I have the Eastwood Hot Coat system, it's pretty good, I usually forget I have to hold a button down while I spray it though lol
That's for the Colorado cookies to go with the Coors :)
Need to work on camera angle spent most of the vid staring at you n couldn't see what you were doing.😐
Go JR! MOAR!
Your the first you tuber I've heard that new modern casting were steel and Not iron. I've been welding exhaust manifolds, engine blocks and suspension parts for years but don't let people know how. You sir have let the cat out of the bag. Lol
can't see tilt the camera down
How are you tuning it for boost?
Did this get finished? I didn’t see a turbo on the truck in later videos.
I made a log from scratch, different series of videos
The Driveway Engineer I found them a couple minutes after I posted his comment. Thanks.
I start my 6.0 swap in a 2003 gmc Sonoma in January.
Is there a video showing the rest of this build?
No, I abandoned the idea because it was too close to the coil packs, I wound up making a complete log manifold from scratch. It was about 130 for everything that way. It may work better using truck manifolds since they are wider than the TBSS manifold I used.
ua-cam.com/video/GamGvo7jvA8/v-deo.html
Well wtf? Lol
I'm looking to do kind of the same any tips thank t
What vehicle? And what's your goal? Like, a fun street car? Or all out racecar?
Join our Facebook group, The Driveway Engineer, there's a few guys on there building different things.
Will this work on ls7 head
Yes, they're all the same
What size in kind of turbo are you running
Whatever size a 170.00 GT45 is
How is that working in do you know how much hp your getting thank you
It's worked great for 18 months or so, it made 648 to the tires, my decapped injectors pegged before I ran out of air.
I cant even imagine how many metal shavings you let go inside that engine
Not enough to stop it from doing 50mph rolling burnouts
so these aren't cast "iron" manifolds am I understanding you right...I assumed they were like old school cast iron
They are cast steel, not iron. They have enough nickel that welding to them is easy
its your engine but i wouldnt do it like this u didnt even cover anything and metal will fuck up the valves
What kind in size turbo are you ri
Fun street car 700 to 750hp don't have Facebook
Starting with a 6.0, the Elgin 1840p cam, Pac 1218 springs.
Log manifolds like Fahler Speed or KB racing fit almost anything.
VS racing 7875 turbo and Snakeeater 150lb/hr injectors will get you there.
Thanks do you like on3 better than vracing
I've never dealt with On3, they are sourcing their stuff from the same place obviously.
I have personally spoken with Viren at VS racing several times and he is always helpful and available, so his customer service is A1.
Would be even cheaper doing remote mount...
How is buying oil pumps and 27 feet of piping cheaper than mounting it at the source? Unless there is absolutely no way to put it under the hood, it's far better to just put it under the hood.
Equalize the sound. You are going to blow someone's speakers
You are right about everything... except one thing... the transmission !!! Why go through all that trouble to just putt around with an auto trans ? If it's a dedicated quarter mile car and you need to get the best times I understand ! But ! its not is it ? It's gunna be a fun car... where in the hell is the fun with an auto trans ? NOTHING IS BETTER THAN ROWING GEARS ! NOTHING !!!!
Look at the prices of old muscle cars ... cars with a standard shift always command more money ! Before long there won't be any more stick shift cars !
Sorry for the rant !!!
well yes and know i cant speak for other manufactuers, but gm used have a thing in automatic cars (performance aimed)a thing called a slap stick mode that was built into the floor shifter.it was a whole separate gate you could hold the transmission in any gear that you wanted to, i had a 72 firebird that had it you could bark the wheels while shifting up off of a stout launch or downshift to what they now call drifting a corner we called getting sideways. but as of lately, seems all cars have a mode called auto stick and it works just like the slap stick factory shifters.
Idc anything about banging gears.
I'm simply not paying 10 times as much to shift myself so I can feel like a man 😂
My 150 dollar slushbox is working great
Dude we can’t even see what your are doing please adjust your camera for the next video thanks Mgmt!
