    Tape the exhaust ports off on the head to keep metal dust and shavings out of the head.

    J.R. That pep talk at the end was awesome! I’m looking into starting a swap into my 1985 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I have a budget of about $2500 and have started looking around at the local yards. I’ll be following your videos closely thanks!

      Wow, I appreciate the kind words!
      And full sized Jeeps are the best! I'd love to have an LS powered one to putter around in!
      I head to my local yards once a week, I always chat with the guys and sometimes I give them donuts or tacos lol, they'll usually hold something for me now if they know I'm looking.

    • @TheDrivewayEngineer
      @TheDrivewayEngineer  6 років тому +1

      No, I abandoned the idea because it was too close to the coil packs, I wound up making a complete log manifold from scratch. It was about 130 for everything that way. It may work better using truck manifolds since they are wider than the TBSS manifold I used.

      Starting with a 6.0, the Elgin 1840p cam, Pac 1218 springs.
      Log manifolds like Fahler Speed or KB racing fit almost anything.
      VS racing 7875 turbo and Snakeeater 150lb/hr injectors will get you there.

      @TheDrivewayEngineer  6 років тому

      How is buying oil pumps and 27 feet of piping cheaper than mounting it at the source? Unless there is absolutely no way to put it under the hood, it's far better to just put it under the hood.

  • @danielweinbaum

    You are right about everything... except one thing... the transmission !!! Why go through all that trouble to just putt around with an auto trans ? If it's a dedicated quarter mile car and you need to get the best times I understand ! But ! its not is it ? It's gunna be a fun car... where in the hell is the fun with an auto trans ? NOTHING IS BETTER THAN ROWING GEARS ! NOTHING !!!!
    Look at the prices of old muscle cars ... cars with a standard shift always command more money ! Before long there won't be any more stick shift cars !
    Sorry for the rant !!!

    • @willievanhoesen4455
      @willievanhoesen4455 2 роки тому

      well yes and know i cant speak for other manufactuers, but gm used have a thing in automatic cars (performance aimed)a thing called a slap stick mode that was built into the floor shifter.it was a whole separate gate you could hold the transmission in any gear that you wanted to, i had a 72 firebird that had it you could bark the wheels while shifting up off of a stout launch or downshift to what they now call drifting a corner we called getting sideways. but as of lately,seems all cars have a mode called auto stick and it works just like the slap stick factory shifters.

    • @TheDrivewayEngineer
      @TheDrivewayEngineer  2 роки тому

      Idc anything about banging gears.
      I'm simply not paying 10 times as much to shift myself so I can feel like a man 😂
