Laura, i love you but my grandmother taught me this in the 1960's. However this video is great because so many young sewers do not know the most basic skills (I also know to put a pin in the end of a buttonhole and open the fabric with a seam ripper). Thank-you for sharing.👍😀🧵

I've use a seam ripper with a pin as a stopper. Never knew of this method. Thank you for sharing.

I'm always nervous when cutting open buttonholes. I just bought a buttonhole cutter set just like yours. Quick and easy and no mistake. Thanks for the tutorial.

Laura you are amazing. Never knew these tools . And didn’t know that thy are to do the cutting of button holes and the rounds. I just use to use the picker carefully. But it drags and I have to trim off the fabric frays. If I see these tools , I am going to get a pair and now I know how to use them. Simple thing we don’t know is that not amazing how we still learn after so many years . 🌹❤️🌹❤️

You are a great teacher and think of so many variables! Don't ask me about the time I used a seam ripper to open a hand made button hole on a reproduction historic costume with disastrous results - from then on I used a button hole chisel!! Thanks for the reminder and the trick with small button slots! Hugs, Deb Our Time To Quilt

I've never heard of a button hold opener. My home economic teacher taught me to use a seam ripper and a pin in the late 60tys.

This is so much help! I've gotten me a sewing book and it said about the button cutter. I was puzzled till your video. Awesome! ❤ May I ask, please? Is there a video of that cloth that was sown in circles and rectangles? I would love to learn. ❤

I bought a 1/4 inch wide chisel. Very sharp and long enough I can see the area to be cut. It can be resharpened and is sturdy. It is so sharp it had a protective cover on it. So I cover it again after use.

I like to add a tiny bit of fray check after cutting my button holes with this method just to be sure to stop any fraying :)

I just ran across a UA-cam video by you from a while back... you were showing how to fold fabric and stack it... it was a really great way to do it simply and have nice even stacks... you might consider sharing again????
