What if Disney's "Toy Story" [Sega Genesis/SNES] was on PlayStation 1?

- I present a fan-made prototype/fake longplay of 1 of my all-time favorite video games, Disney & Pixar's "Toy Story" (1995), as if it were not only released on the Sega Genesis & Super NES, but also on the PlayStation 1! It's basically just the SNES version but with more edits involved in the mix such as color & texture adjustments, more sound effects & additional music tracks & my own liberties. And of course a movie-based PS1 game must have cutscenes like "A Bug's Life" & "Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear To The Rescue", so as I'm not sure if there's an approximate limit of cutscenes or how long they usually are supposed to be in games but here they give you the basic idea of the movie & what you're about to go through in the gameplay. That sounded more exciting to go along the story of the film instead of the original game(s) which shows text & photos of the movie, so now it's like you can watch the movie & play the game (the latter as mentioned in a poster for the original game). Speaking of gameplay, a few sets of levels, like "Revenge of the Toys" & "Run Rex Run" for example, I connected together without cutscenes in between them for they seemed more of a Part 1 & 2 type of transition. And I made the level "DAY-TOY-NA" a mini game as an intro to "Light My Fire" without having the score go up the further you get for I couldn't be able to get the accurate score for the game onwards. And I found the movie clips through various sources online so I'm sorry if some clips have lower quality or glitches, etc. But they were the best I could use.
There really isn't that much changes besides this prototype being a rip of the SNES version which I personally think is the better version by presentation & better controls that have a certain flow to it (yet both that & the Genesis version equally have critical comparisons), & for those who feel the SNES version seems unfinished compared to the Genesis version, I understand respectfully but I thought I'd redeem it here with similarities of the Sega Genesis version & plenty of sound effects from the 1996 PC Power Play version & few sounds from the Genesis version too, 2 unused music tracks meant for the SNES version, "You've Got A Friend In Me" & "DAY-TOY-NA", as well as a new credit screen at the end inspired by the end credits of Disney's "Pinocchio" on SNES & Sega Genesis. Yeah, we don't talk about the Nintendo Game Boy version (...) Ever! And even though I could've used the PC version's music throughout everything & I've really tried to remake it but it seems too difficult. Maybe I will in the future.... 🤔 But I can't keep promises, as it might cause such an upset. Nevertheless, this video was a pain to make - a flippin' doozy! It took at least a month or a couple of weeks to finish altogether. And yes, this video is kid-friendly too. So I hope you guys love the video & the concept behind it! Yee-HAW!

I love how you can watch nearly the entire movie in this mock up
Which I did. Not the worst way to pirate a movie.
the best combination..the sega genesis gameplay and colors and the ost and effects of snes
Don’t forget the save system from the pc version
SNES: not much scenes
Genesis: has a lot of scenes
PlayStation: LITERALLY TAKES SCENES FROM THE MOVIE!
Just like Toy Story 2 for PS1/Dreamcast.
Game Boy: no scenes

@@Dupontman627 Sega CD Toy Story
And Toy Story 2 for the N64 takes pictures from the second movie.
Really good prototype. I feel like just like this video a PS1 version would combine the best of the all versions with the graphics of the SNES version, the voiceover, SFX, and music of the PC version, the better version of the first person level found in the Genesis version and the RC level exusive to the Genesis and PC versions of tge game
Nice version of Toy Story 1 in PS1
Since lion king, Aladdin and jungle book got a remaster on the switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. I hope someday they’ll give Toy Story A remaster
Actually it was a emulator port
No Hyper-Realistic PS1 controller dancing on the menu screen, 0/10.
Seriously though, this is a great concept
rip gunny lee erny miss that bloody legend.
This is pretty well put together! Almost fees and sounds like an actual Playstation game
@Red-man PlayStation 1 or SEGA CD, SEGA Saturn or Game Boy Advance game with the in-game movie like cutscenes
@@RetroGamerKevin or SNES with the MSU-1 chip
That would definitely be very cool if Toy Story 1 would be released as a video game for the PS1 because the PS1 console was released before the Toy Story movie. The only thing that needs to add is more voice clips because the PS1 uses compact discs and the SNES/Genesis uses cartridges and also, the game music and sound effects needs to be remastered too.
PS1 release date: September 9, 1995
Toy Story release date: November 22, 1995
Toy Story 2 (1999) was one of the most innovative sequels ever made and it's still fine wine 🍷 in 2024
Really good video, would also be interesting to see what a GBA version of Toy Story would be like!
A cheap SNES port with crap sound, washed-out colours, cropped picture and ruined controls, like most of them. GBA was a piece of shit.
I mean, they released the game on the OG GameBoy…
What GBA version of Toy Story 1 will be like SNES port but also was side scrolled. There might be also like level skips due to limitations with the GBA system.
@@ventisette. That's NOT how I feel about GBA. I'd appreciate it if they made that version.
I would also wonder what it would be like if "Disney's Toy Story" was released on Nintendo 64.
Nice version of Toy Story in PS1!
This would have been the best version of the video game for Toy Story.
I want to see what an N64 version would look like.
The movie clips would've been remade with Jim Hanks' voice as Woody, Pat Fraley's voice as Buzz Lightyear, and ANYthing or anyone NOT supposed to appear was removed in favor of a PlayStation version of the game.
Why not get the original voice actors instead?
@@Gorilla-r4gmoney
Would that be the case? Both SNES and Genesis ports feature voice clips from the movie ("You don't want to be in my way when my laser goes off") and clips are used extensively in promotional material, which a videogame could count as
@@emisor9272still though
@@TheDarkwingj Toy Story 2 got the original voice actors (most of them including Hanks and Allen) to reprise their roles

pretty great because i have almost the entire movie
honestly surprised the video didn't get blocked since you basically posted the entire movie with gameplay inbetween
Oh my a PS1 game that says "Licensed by Nintendo"
No worries I had read the description before get into the comments section.
Anyways, I think the Genesis version is the based version of Toy Story, so it could match the resolution and also they did some cool tricks with the visuals too
@Gordy Owl on the PS1 game, they should take the "Licensed by Nintendo" thing off and respectfully replace it with "Sony Computer Entertainment America presents"
Something tells me the toddle tots, Slinky Dog, the See n Say, Rockin Robot, and the Troll Doll would NOT look legally safe for this version…
I really like what you did with the staff roll ! Combining both the SNES and Genesis versions of "You've got a friend in me" into a mashup, and Woody dancing on loop while the names are rolling by was a nice touch -^ ^-
I based it on the end credits of Disney's "Pinocchio" on Sega Genesis & SNES.
You need a loading screen when you get the cutscenes
And you need to replace Buzz and Woody's voices with Jim Hanks and Pat Fraley's voices
@@anthonymiller2032 why?
You've got friend in me You've got friend in me
You definitely nailed the PS1 Disney game vibe! 👌
Y’know, to be honest. This would actually have that Mickey mania vibe to it since there was a ps1 version to it.
And maybe some sound effects would be from the pc…but I say the snes is more clearer
Thoooough I was maybe expecting the musics from the PC version.
But still. It looks great ^^
Holy crap how did you get actual footage of the movie in the game!?
That’s impressive!
Probably from a DVD copy. I know I one the DVD from the 2000's 2-Pack and the one from the 4-Movie Blu-Ray set,
I'm pretty sure it's just edited together
@@megaheroes3611 and don’t forget the 2005 10 anniversary DVD
@@miguael_ribuera You read it wrong. Those are the DVDs and Blu-Ray I owned, not know (Which I still know the 10th Anniversary DVD.)
I believe the cutscenes would actually be from the laserdisc/film reel
I do wonder if we ever got a Sega Saturn version of this along side the PlayStation one, would the Saturn one have Genesis tunes and its visuals instead?
I would say the Saturn one was like the Genesis game but either high or low quality video for the cutscenes
Cool! I like the FMV in this.
Great video! Please can you upload more games.. Walkthrough or gameplay please! Thank you!
As a Sega gamer, I feel the Toy Story video game should have also been released on Sega Saturn and Sega Game Gear. I did some concept art of the Game Gear version's box art in a community post I posted the day Lightyear hit theaters. I suspect that the Saturn version would have been similar to the PC version, and the Game Gear version would have been developed by Black Pearl Software, who also developed the Game Boy version, having all the same levels as the Game Boy version, but with enhanced graphics and sound since the Game Gear was a more powerful handheld system than the Game Boy. Similar to games like Sonic Blast, Baku Baku Animal, and Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble, it would use pre-rendered 3D sprites to show what the Game Gear was capable of at the tail end of its lifespan. I know Legend of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse was truly the last Disney game to be released for the Game Gear (in early 1995), but I feel that Toy Story should have been the last Disney game on the Game Gear. To a lesser extent, I think the Pinocchio video game should have also been released on the Game Gear.
Blud gave us the entire toy story movie without Disney noticing

(Sid burning a hole in Woody's forehead)
Sid: Where are your rebel friends NOW?! (laughing)
Sid's mother: Sid, your Pop Tarts are ready!
Sid: All right!
(Woody screaming)
Buzz Lightyear: You alright? I'm proud of you, Sheriff. A lesser man would've talked under such torture.
Sheriff Woody: I sure hope this isn't permanent.
Thank you so much for doing this! :-) Please do more projects like this! :-)
This Is Like Almost The Full Movie
Blud found a loophole ☠️☠️☠️
The FMV's should be more pixelated and you should use the PC port that is the most PS1-like version but so cool
Would be the genesis version but with better graphics and the music from the pc version (mickey mania did something similar when it was released on ps1 in 1996)
54:32 woody: what's that you?
Awesome Remake!
Awesome, toy story should be made a home brew ps1 game of itself.

I would love to play toy story 1 2 and 3 remastered for ps5
I think it would of looked exactly like Toy Story 2 on PS1 but you play as Woody and he has a Colt 45 which means his holster has a use for once.
And villains Zurg al mcwhiggin stinky Pete
@@blossom6309 those villains didn’t exist at the time
Actually I'm pretty sure I heard from an interview that in the Toy Story universe, the Woody toys never came with a gun because in the Woody's Roundup show he alway found a way to save the day without a need for violence and the empty holster represents that. If he did come with gun than Al wouldn't have stole him in Toy Story 2 since he wouldn't have been complete.
What if Toy Story was on the TurboGrafx 16
This would seem even more legitimate with MSU1 music from the crappy PC version.
I'm sure the TT director could work on a unique, homebrew port as a "Director's Cut" release. If one could contact him
Ok is this was on ps1 ill buy it for sure

Muy buen video,me imagino que te debio costar mucho para poner clips de la película jaja, realmente me hubiera gustado que lo sacaran en la ps1,gran video, saludos
Really good video. I hope this with the in game movie footage goes on PS1 as well as on SEGA CD, SEGA Saturn and Game Boy Advance
The Game Boy Advance doesn't uses Compact Discs.
Why wasn't Toy Story made for PS1?
I Want to Know Why It Wasn't Released For Playstation 1! Too I Know it Was Released For SNES/GEN but What About PS1!
Simply to say - they contacted every needed console maker to release their game for, yet ps1 was released not so long before movie launch. SNES and Mega drive sold solidly, while ps1 or Saturn didn't proved it yet. Some of the genesis releases got ps1 adaptations, like ewj2, but it simply was port of the already successful game just to sell twice or to find a new audience, but it wasn't for movie franchise that was supposed to be tied in to movie release.
Yet toy story 2 had ps1 release and Dreamcast also had it.
I remember my SNES version had the best Graphics and sound like always, but GENESIS had more content and much more challenging difficult
The menu and credits music from the Mega Drive version sound Nice tough
Não, a versão Sega Genesis é bem melhor em gráficos, gameplay e som.
ps1 version with snes soundtrack, maybe pc soundtrack power play version also it's good to add some footage from the movie.
I think Toy Story would've been perfect to do in the Clockwork Knight style.
Yes this game would have been awesome on the Sony Playstation
Someone needs to make this a real port.
What happens if you get a Game over in this version?
Just a dumb thought:
Maybe a snippit from the movie at the gas station where woodys like "im a lost toy!" Before crying
@@red-man7017if that was the game over scene in this reimagine Toy Story game on the PlayStation One. It would be on an episode of “Creepy Bad Endings”
Technically they should have done it with the pc midis converted to ps1 xm music
And the movies should have been the 35mm laserdisc quality
If it was using the very first mpeg for the cut scenes from the movie 🎥 🎬 it would look like PlayStation, for sure 😂 ❤
It would likely have taken some stuff from the PC version.

Good! May I point out that Mr Potato Head is the true villain?! Let me explain
No one knows what RC is saying and it's funny Potato Head somehow knew what he was saying *whispers* he doesn't
What I'm saying is he delivery blamed it on Woody, Notice how the toys see Woody look so concerned when Buzz was knocked out and not to mention he is the most aggressive on Woody and for what?
Only thing for Potato Head is Buzz came back revealing Woody was right but thankfully he turns himself around in the next movie
I personally would've used the longer version of the Disney Interactive logo (ua-cam.com/video/R8uh_ortzd0/v-deo.html), but that's just me.
Now I Would Imagine How A Atari Jaguar, Game Boy Advanced Or Sega Dreamcast
Can you do "What if Inspector Gadget (Hudson Soft USA, SNES) was on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)?"
Can you do "what if Buster Bros. (Hudson Soft USA, Nintendo Game Boy) was on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)"?
@SuperLuigiLoganMLG There was a planned licensed version for the NES version of Buster Bros. that was supposed to come out in the United States around 1993.
Very underrated game
A more realistic PS1 version would be simply the 1996 PC port but with FMVs, because that port has CD-quality remastered music, but it's poorly programmed and has so many glitches because of the short time of development they had for this port
Now do a video where what if Toy Story was on Sega Saturn it's got to be the Genesis PC versions
