For those wondering why GPWS didn't make warning sound, its because when planes detect glideslope the GPWS stop saying "Too Low Terrain", 228 people died and 26 survived, the cause of the crash was Pilot error, fatigue and false glideslope detection

I'm a retired pilot for a small passenger aircraft. Whenever pilots face zero visibility n warning by computer indicating the crafts altitude, immediately go round decision has to be taken. In this case, the captain kept looking for the runway and too late to go around.

    • @RitaTunakTun

@@Grizzles56 It is when when pilots abandon the landing or approach to the runway and fly over and 'go around' the airport to try again. This mostly occurs due to not being able to land safely or in this case a missed approach as they could not see the runway.

Maintenance is also staggeringly expensive and time-consuming. A common factor in so many crashes is airlines trying to cut costs as much as possible, leading to rushed or poor maintenance. And sooner or later the luck runs out.

ILS minimums is less than 500 ft on an approach, usually 200 ft Above ground level (AGL). For instance if the landing field is 1000 AGL, the minimums would likely be 1200 ft. i.e 200 ft AGL, so the 500 ft mentioned was approaching minimum, and not below.

Several years before this crash I was stationed on Guam. I lived on Nimitz hill and worked on the Navy side of the airport. I used to sit on my front step and watch aircraft pass at a lower altitude over Agana, nearer the water, than I was at on their way to land.

can probably be explained by power distance in which the first officer and engineer felt they couldn’t contest the captain due to his authority. according to the black box recording which was recovered afterwards the first officer and engineer regularly made hints at potential problems i.e ´dont you think it rains more in this area’(meaning we have no backup plan) and ´captain the weather radar has helped us a lot’ (theres trouble ahead and wr can’t just rely on a visual approach) regularly throughout the flight the engineer and first officer brought up subjects of concern once due to the large power distance between the 3 which alongside the fatigue and weather unfortunately caused the crash. If you’re interested in the explanation in more detail would suggest reading Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
