    A tip regarding the radio and climate controls: If you hold the toggle button down you can select a default. This means that if you set the default to be infotainment you can still push the button to change to climate. But after several seconds it changes back to infotainment. So you always are sure in which state it is.

      Great tip Rudolf! I had no idea that was possible. I can see this helping tremendously as it builds in some predictability and then it’s probably just muscle memory from there. Thank you for sharing!

    Michael, Really enjoyed your comprehensive review of the new Niro EV. In Australia the top trim is the GT Line, the base trim is the S. I'm still in the process of deciding which way to go - the GT Line has all the features as presented in the car that you reviewed. Kia have done a great job with the new Niro. The charging speed doesn't really concern me. My car will mostly be charged at home. And if I'm away, well I'll just appreciate the few extra minutes of down time, particularly on long drives.

      Thank you Peter for the kind words and I’m excited that it’s a car you are considering! That’s definitely a different trim structure than we have for the U.S. but I’m glad it’s fairly equivalent. While the DC fast charging is on the slow end, I actually own a BMW i3 which tops out at 50 kW for DCFC and it’s tolerable on short road trips.

    I've had mine for 4 months -really love the car.. and had NO idea what that insert was for! Is there a way to charge from a regular wall socket while waiting for the home charger to be installed?

      @MichaelDrivesOfficial  9 місяців тому

      I’m probably a bit late with this one but you can absolutely charge from a home socket, and that EVSE Level 1 charger should have been included with the car if I’m not mistaken.

    We're looking to buy a cheap electric suv. How do you think this compares to other evs at this price point?

      Good question, as far as value, Bolt EUV is/was the leader there, but also consider that the Tesla Model Y is currently $1,000 less than the Niro Wave, and is eligible for the Federal tax deduction if you are purchasing. Niro should be eligible if leased.

    Do you know much power that the V2L provide on the Niro? I know the 3.6kW spec is for Europe, not North America, and that the value is 1.9kW for the Ioniq 5 and EV6. I was told the Niro EV is less, but I can't find information about that anywhere.

    If you can't see the head-up display very well when wearing polarized glasses, then try the rotation adjustment in the head-up settings. Or slightly tilt your head to change the polarized angle.

    I just upgraded my 2020 to this model in the dark metalic grey with the black trim wave trim i love it but the one thing i really hate is the radio/climate control every time i try to turn radio volume up a part of my finger hits auto climate and activates it, very annoying 🤦🏻🤷🏼‍♂️

    Hey great review and walk through. Are the 17"wheels standard throughout all trim levels? They look a bit small in my opinion. Would be nice to have an option to go 18 or even 19. Thank you.

      17” are the only wheels offered from the factory, but you could conceivably swap in aftermarket wheels, but at the peril of range.

      @@MichaelDrivesOfficial thanks for the reply. Yes I kind of figured as much alright. I don't think I've had 17"wheels since my first car, a Toyota yaris in 99 😅. Kind of stuck between this and the Megane e tech (although can't really afford either 😁).

    Thank you for this review, Michael! May I ask approximately where you are located? The price you listed for this car in your comments is much lower than anything I'm finding. Maybe I need to buy this car from wherever you are and get it shipped to me!

      I’m in the Washington D.C. area, but those prices are MSRP which should be consistent across the U.S..

    The Kia Niro EV Wave also has a rain sensor. You turn the knob to Auto where you adjust the wiper speed. When it stars to sprinkle the sensor starts the wiper and the more it rains it adjust to the amount of rain. The sensor is located up next to the mirror. I love it - I'm getting spoiled!!

    Have they fixed the Scheduled Charging so that you can charge the car on off-peak cheap electricity? Kia knows about this problem yet there is no solution, they get owners to update software, uodate headunits etc. etc. yet there is still no solution. Seems an easy software fix to start and stop charging at given times, what’s so hard?

      I’m not aware of this issue but that’s unfortunate if it’s not working, I suppose the workaround would be using a smart L2 EVSE charger that can perform the same function.
