Kengan Asura is definitely one of the best mangas in this genre, and my personal favorite. As you said in the video, one of its greatest strength is how each fighter is given an engaging backstory and personality. The fighting is top notch as well, while the fighters are obviously superhuman, it still succeeds in finding that sweet spot between superhuman feats and relatively believable physical explanation of the moves. I recommend anyone who enjoys fighting to give it a try ! On the other hand I think Omega is kinda lackluster and tried to emulate the same vibe of the first manga to no avail. And sadly the anime could have used more financing as I find the fights quite tame compared to the manga. You can't really feel the same impacts as the gorgeous drawings of Daromeon.
It's not as hype as the first manga but I am loving Omega for the reasons I mentioned in the video. I think the fights are still great too. Plus, we haven't gotten to the next Kengan Annihilation tournament where the stakes will be the highest. Super pumped for that 🤘
I have to say the current arc in the Inside seems promising! Actually the main reason that I didnt get hooked that much is because I did not like the Purgatory fighters. It's hard to put it into words but the world building and character building is much less engaging. Altough keeping in mind that it's still a great manga and I'm being this harsh because it's the followup to one of my favorite mangas
@@Fowly-Fr That's fair. Now that you mention it, I was not attached to most of the Purgatory fighter with a couple of exceptions. I'm most pumped for the next Kengan tourney tho. Berserker Bowl was a great warm-up for it too!
Never heard of this series before, but I think I will add it to my long list of things I need to read. Your videos are always great to watch. Sports anime is always super interesting when love and care is put into it. I started watching Blue lock with the rise it received from the World Cup. I got insanely invested into it with the characters and there weapons. The series obviously exaggerates, but there have been times when I play soccer in the flow state and just do things. Bluelock has inspired me to get back into soccer, but I don't think I will be able to anytime soon.
I know of Kengan Asura from netflix. I liked it a lot and can't wait for the next bit of it to come out. I grew up watching dragon ball and old chinese kung fu, martial arts fighting movies cause my dad liked them. You probably know of it but another (good) fighting anime/manga is Baki (also on netflix). As for fighting games I'm not too good at them, not good at learning combos and using them. I'm alright at Super smash bro's and still play that. I would recommend Mortal Kombat Armageddon. I grew up playing that, making characters, doing these pillar fights I'm sure on easy or through spamming/mashing buttons, it also has cart racing and a story mode where you play as some guy. Although I couldn't get through 20 minutes of it cause my game would crash. To me the game felt like the last mortal kombat from how much stuff there was. Anywho I've said more than enough, Thanks for making the video; I quite enjoyed it
I'm glad you liked it ❤️ I definitely woulda put time into fighting games if I had someone else that was into it. Baki's a fun anime but I really like it for how silly it is. I'm just genuinely excited for Kengan fights!
i respect your opinion on the netflix adaptation, however i personally think it's kinda garbo cause in the animation department first they were extremely indecisive on whether or not it should be 2d or 3d, and second they cut a good chunk of the story out to the point that multiple future events definitely won't make sense watching it unless you've read the manga beforehand
@@thebeardedaliengamer7103 Oh definitely dude. I like the anime in spite of its many flaws. I totally get if someone is off put by all that. I like the 3D but they need to polish it up. Scenes that aren't fights are GARBAGE!! I think they accomplish some cool stuff but it looks like they prioritized the fights over everything else in order to get something out on time. Also I don't think it was that they couldn't decide. I think they just wanted to make 3D models for characters that fight more than once. Making a model can be a big time commitment but it pays off when you can re-use it. So they just analyzed who would need models and who wouldn't. Like Nezu getting one shot, it's easy to just draw him a few times than make a spot-on model. It was an artistic decision, but one made out of limitations no doubt. This is just what I believe happened tho. I think both could totally be true. Sorry for rambling! I really like talking about this stuff!
totally forgot about this show while waiting for it to come out on netflix, thanks for the nice reminder. Love the commentary on this video and the borderlands one
Love this series. And there should be fighting game of this series. Hell the plot of story which is essentially a tournament arc is similar to every plot in fighting game. Even every fighter got some sort of background story
I know the anime says "Ashura." So does some manga translations! The one I read used "Asura" which is why I said it that way! I figured I should have just said "Ashura" to not bother people but it didn't feel right lol
I like boys
You should prolly read Kengan then

That's awesome! I really need to pick up some sports anime/manga sometime. I watched some Haiyku with my sister but that's it.
You should watch it’s an awesome series
he just like me fr
There's also the fact that it's in the same universe as nan kilo moteru which is just a fun fact
I didn't know that! If I get bored one evening I gotta check it out lol

Freakin' love Kengan. Also I'm glad the Borderlands video caught on. I put a lot of love into it ♥
sandrovich shitposts often on the Kengan ashura subreddit, 10/10 best author.

Oh my God I would pick up a fighting game with these characters even if it was trash lol
@@bigfreakinfrog at least we got a season 2 this September
This anime made me wanna cage fight people, so now I train martial arts
