All good alternative affordable(ish) pilot style options. Oris and Laco are my preferences here. Cheaper still, are the Orient pilot style watches. In-house Japanese calibers, good looking, solid cases for knocking around and sub $300.
Disappointed you chose to omit the Orient Flight from your value-for-money list. At under $200 with type B dial, on leather, incorporating an in-house movement I felt sure it would have received a guernsey unless, unlike the Title's implications, this was a Eurocentric listing.
+Brian Hinder: Thank you for your thoughts as the Orient truly is an excellent watch. However, the reason why I did not include it is that here in the UK, Orient do not have a service centre and parts are scarce, thus making these watches less economical than a more expensive, Swiss offering.
I got myself an Orient Flight with cream dial. Removed the original leather strap from Orient (it was really too hard - you can barely bend it) and replaced it with a dark brown leather NATO strap; together with a butterfly clasp. Loving the watch so much!
Geckota is a microbrand owned by Watch Gecko. They make an epic flieger style watch called the K1. Very high quality with a Seiko movement for under $300. You can’t beat it. The Seiko SNK809 is a great option if you have less than $100 to spend.
Sinn and Breitling don't share the same movement (not even close). Breitling did use a modified ETA movement but not since 2008. Today, the Navigimer uses Breitling's B01 movement.
Informative as ever. I have the Sinn 104 with arabic numerals and I find it very useful for flying. As it has the day and date, I know what day it is when I wake up in a different hotel! :-) All very good. One suggestion, if I may, is to try to reduce the number of ums and ers, if possible, or edit some out... Just a point for thought... As ever, a very enjoyable video. Thank you.
Great channel, Armand. Subscribed. Don't overlook Fortis - they have a very nice basic automatic Flieger with 200m WR. Another _very_ affordable Pilot's watch is the Seiko SNA 411 quartz with the slide-rule dial and 200m WR. Alpina Startimer is another reasonably-priced quality quartz Flieger (automatic available at higher cost). A not-so-affordable pilots quartz watch is the Breitling Aerospace but designed to reflect a real aircraft chronograph and with 200m WR. Greetings from Switzerland. Rob
+RobWhittlestone: Thank you very much for the kind comment, I really do appreciate it. Thank you for the suggestions too as I always appreciate to hear new opinions on watches and to learn about models which I had not otherwise considered.
Thank you Armand, for your kind words too! I was intrigued to read about your family background - mine is a kind of mirror image - now Swiss but previously only British, with Cypriot, Swiss, French, Italian, Irish, Vietnamese family connections. All the best, Rob
First of a thumbs up for Jupiter from the planetsuite, I just played in my school orchestra and great video of course:) I'd like to ask wich watchbrand you would recommend , because I saved some money (2k) and I'd like to buy a watch which should hold it's value and ideally gain value, but I have no idea wich brand to go with. I really like Sinn , due to the technology of they're watches and they're from my hometown (Frankfurt ) but I'm not sure how they're watches hold value. I really hope for an answer. Best regards, Alessio
Nice video! Do you have an opinion on the Sinn EZM 3F? (with the braclet), I´ve thought about buying it know for a while now. I do like the idea of the left hand crown for the extra comfort and the look. And the fact that it has a cleaner dial then the EZM 3.
+mutinyoscar: Thanks for the comment, I think that it would be a superb buy on the basis that Sinn watches are very well made and are reasonably priced. The EZM 3F is a beautiful watch and contains excellent technology. By the way, all Sinn watches are having a substantial price increase in September so it would be a good idea to buy now.
Armand, I really like your videos very good job. So many other watch channels delve into lots of silly drama and give opinion on what seems to come more from sponsorship than straight honesty. CHEERS, Kenny
+Kenny Howell: Thanks very much for the comment, it's great to hear that my videos are appreciated. As far as I'm concerned, my channel is here to give my subscribers good advice on watches which have really caught eye. With regards to sponsorship, I take the view that any company which I am happy to feature is happy to see my true opinion of it.
Apex820: I personally own an Orient Ray in Black and it has been a truly brilliant watch. The finishing is very good and it is very durable. The only issue with these watches is the service price can be as high as that of the watch in certain countries where they do not have a service centre.
+NETVO TV: Thank you for your comment. I'm afraid that I really could not recommended AVI-8 as, having owned one, their watches are badly made for the price and their customer service is worse. I would suggest that you choose Seiko as a good entry point into the pilot's watch world due to their robust nature.
Armand The Watch Guy hi, thanks for reply, I'm not specifically want a pilot watch, I buy a watch more like a tool, I want to do things faster because I can only "see" time with an analog watch. I was planned to get a minimalist watch with light brown leather, but can't find one that is minimalist enough and cheap, only those Kickstarter watch like Linjer or Brathwait watch close to what I like. And I also want the second hand to be yellow, as my favorite color is yellow and add some colorful color to cheer me up every time I read the time. So I wish I can find a watch that is around $200 or less, white face, Arabic numerical or bar market also can, yellow second hand and light brown/tan leather strap, can you recommend some to me? I don't think Seiko watch is for me, I checked some on their website, their watch is not that youngful
Oris are overpriced across the board. Nice details, but all Sellita based (excluding ridiculously priced in-house models) and details don't warrant the prices they demand. There are absolutely other pilot watch offerings that offer true value for money, but I'll keep that valuable piece of knowledge for myself to take advantage of.
I dont understand how you could chose the watches you did over the Garmin D2 range. How can you possibly think that the above watches come Close to AND surpass all that the D2 can do ?
Breitling couldn't make it and had to share their roots with competitors such as Sinn (model 903) in order to survive. I actually like their offerings, but they no way put out THE real pilot watch.
I think you are more concerned about style than functionality. A watch like a Garmin watch far surpasses any of the watches you listed in terms of ability to assist a pilot. As a pilot myself I think you've overlooked a key factor when creating this video.
Agreed. Know how you can tell these watches are not actually meant to be used by a pilot flying an airplane? Simple: they don't have the two resettable 60-minute timers that a pilot needs: 1) fuel tank switch timer and 2) approach leg timer. Or at least a pair of indicators that can be rotated independently around the bezel.
Couldn't watch till the end....thus video should've been half as long if he would stop stuttering over every single statement and the 40,579 times he hovers over the word .....um....

If the cabin de-pressured suddenly my watches crystal coming off would be the last off my worry dude!
Exactly my thought!
NATH C That's when you need a good Lume to find thr parachute...!
Good to see Glycine. It's an underappreciated brand
What about Bremont? Stunning movements, shockproof to aviation standards and quality surpassing the navitimer.

I would add to the list a Russian Aviator IV chronograph with poljot caliber 31681.
Brilliant video with lots of information! Was recently speaking with a friend about Pilot watches and then this video went live :D Perfect timing!
+itsKibble Talks Watches: Thank you very much for the kind words. What a funny coincidence!
Chase Durer has some of the best Pilot watches out hope you do a review on them
I've seen pictures of WWII pilots, wearing watches over the sweater
Probably that's why 55 mm was just perfect fit for it
The Oris you have on the channel is 45m way to big there's a 41m just date.Oris is good value but I wouldn't spend more then $1000 on one.Cheers.

Great review and very informative Armand. Please keep up the good work. I salute your knowledge.
Hi,
Did you hear about FORTIS ?
Another helpful video Armand!
What about Fortis?
cool choices
Great...now I want one of each!

Hi Armand what is your thoughts on Orient divers? Movement & Quality

Do you think the AVI-8 Hawker Hunter AV-4052-03 good to buy as my first watch? Can it last long?

Excellent video.
you should list it in discription. then I'll subscribe
Great reviews

Britlieng is the real pilot watch
Mubarak al naemi breitling over rated cases with mostly eta movements. Get the same movement in a steinhart for a quarter of the money...
Breitling couldn't make it and had to share their roots with competitors such as Sinn (model 903) in order to survive. I actually like their offerings, but they no way put out THE real pilot watch.
EQUALLY.
oris look like timex watches

there is no such thing like a value for money watch lmao
a mechanical watch is a scam
do u not have a phone
Not everyone can or even wants to carry a cell phone
