I broke the side of the acoustic Martin guitar

- In this video I show how to glue cracked guitar side using hide glue. And do a fret leveling.
So here my thoughts about hide glue. In cons it's require additional equipment, time to prepare (it's definitely not an option for a busy days in shop), it is tricky in use and not really versatile. But in pros it's really good when you need to glue some thin cracks (like this one in video) and make them almost invisible, it's easy to clean. It sets quickly so it great for places where you can't use clamp,
I don't think its superior than regular titebondish types of wood glue, or this is the right way, this is the right glue. It's great when it's appropriate to use :)
Also we launch YT sponsorship, and already have educational content about fretworks.
Detailed description of video, tools and agents used will be a bit later on my Patreon.

That ebony finferboard is just gorgeous
This is so satisfying to watch. Not being a guitar repair person but guitar, lover, and player. I get lost in all the things that you do wondering what it is that you’re doing. No matter, I am mesmerized. Like others have said, it’s so therapeutic. Go figure. Thank you for everything you do to keep people playing their guitars. Stay safe.
She does great work!
Amazing work! We need to see you play the guitars after you fix them! It'll make the video even more entertaining!
THIS!
Погоджуюсь на 100%
Yes !
You know Leo fender couldn't play guitar right?
I agree that Tanya needs to show a full setup, and actually let us see and hear the results.
Great work..the repair..the filming….thecamera work…the editing. Thank you so much.
Watching Tanya's videos and work is such a therapeutic experience, and congratulations on your rapidly increasing subscriber base, it's testament to the quality and pride you put into all your work!
Brilliant job and setup, Tanya. Thank you !
Just discovered your channel - this is the most enjoyable and relaxing content to watch - inspiring !!!
7:08 I like the way you modified the super glue nozzle! 😆👍
You did excellent work repairing this Martin ✌❤
I love watching your videos (-: I'm trying to absorb your technique, and the products, and tools you use to get beautiful frets, and fretboard. I have a few refret projects, and I want to make sure I get them done right. Keep up the great work! Have a great day/night! ✌️🤘👍🎸
I love these videos so much. So relaxing to watch these and very inspiring aswell!
Good job Tanya, love watching you work. I hope all is well over there… 🙏❤️🙏
Love how your work speaks for itself. Great job
I was wishing she did voice over after because I listen to videos as I work and watch a lil too.
@@Bflatest there's always twoodfrd if you want narration.
Sorcery! The fix on that crack! You performed magic! It definitely looks tricky dealing with acoustics.
thank you!:)
I really enjoy watching you work your talent is top-notch, thank you for all the videos you do
Thank you so much!
That’s a beautiful Martin. Wish I could have heard it sing. Great work on the repair.
It's amazing how quickly you managed to build a channel! Congrats from a long time follower 😊
Amazing work! A joy to watch…..I just wish they were a little longer. 😬🙏🏻
As an aspiring luthier, I absolutely love watching your videos!
Amazing work!
I hope you are staying safe!
Beautiful work, can't wait for the next video
Thank you, so much💙
Fascinating to watch, but also enjoy the foot notes as well.
It helps with the details.
This is so relaxing! Nice job.
A bigger crack just means more gluing surface to make a better repair! Great job tanya.
This is probably the only UA-cam channel that I subscribe to that I’ve seen all of its videos. 😉
Keep up the good work, young lady. Be safe and God bless!
Thank you!🙏🏻
@@TanyaShpachuk you’re welcome!
Great idea with the pipette - brilliant
great video - cool little trick for making the CA glue tube thinner
Très beau travaille , et très belle dextéritée . J'appréçies beaucoup le cté Zen de chaque vidéos .Merci beaucoup.
Another fantastic job! You got some skills :)
Thank you 😊
therapeutic videos.
Thanks Tanya ❤
i like your woek because you dont talk you do the job very well keep it on & thanks.
Congratulations Tanya!!!!!. ❤
That was an outstanding recovery after the crack worsened while attempting to expand it for applying cleats, and gluing. Like you, I'm also on the fence regarding the use of hide glue. I normally thin Tite-Bond with a bit of distilled water. Then again, I agree that the hide glue does set more rapidly, Nevertheless, this was well done. I'd like to buy you a coffee.
A master luthier at work, very cool!
Good morning, beautiful, that lp that you renovated a while ago, it was wonderful
I love guitar work anyway, but the ASMR way of filming is amazing!
Fantastic job!
Well done, you fixed that split.
wow, an excellent job!!! ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your great job.
I learned a lot from you.
🧿🙏
That was a really neat trick with the lighter, to reduce the diameter of the pipette tip.
👍 Tanya I love to watch you work, I sure would like to hear you play.
From a Martin employee, great work!
Good as new! Very impressive.
I can’t even imagine.I have a 98’ D28 I bought new on 01-08-1998.It’s like one of my children.I can’t even IMAGINE!
That was awesome!! I would’ve been pulling my hair out after the split!! Beautiful work
Thank you!
@@TanyaShpachuk I live in USA. I work on my personal guitars on easy issues. I have an acoustic that the string height at 12 feet is super high. My neck is straight. What should my strings measure at 12th fret? If u don’t mind me asking ? Ty
@@Stratsruleyour guitar almost certainly needs a neck reset. That’s a job for a professional, unless it’s a Taylor or something else with a bolt-on neck. This isn’t a cheap job, it’ll be at least $250. At very, very least.
Whatever you do at least pay someone to check it out to make sure this isn’t going to create structural damage over time. The neck should be parallel to the topsheet but over time the strings pull it up at the nut, increasing its angle to the topsheet. Which can push the fretboard extension down into the topsheet etc. depending on design. You might be able to just lower the saddle and forget about it without anything getting damaged but don’t assume you can. Unless it’s not worth it to you to spend a few hundred dollars on it.
There is no correct string hight but most companies set them up to be as low as possible without buzzing.
@@Stratsrule1.5-2mm(It's personal preference, really, but you can find your specific model spec sheet online) and, after you set proper neck relief, if it's still high, you can "shave the saddle." The first step of shaving the saddle is to have an extra saddle on hand, in case you shave it too much. How to do it? Look it up on UA-cam.
Such expert and loving care for that instrument. I wish I could have you care for my guitars too
Splendidly done...
✌️❤️😊
To fix it you had to break it, awesome work!!
Beautiful work you are a true artist
Thank you ☺️
Very nicely done ☮️❤️🎶
You learned very well, Grasshopper.
Hey! New sub! You have an amazing gift Tanya! Keep up the content!
Great Art and skill 🙏
That was definitely beautiful work!!!😎
Thank you!
@@TanyaShpachuk You're Very Much Welcome!!! Keep Up The Good Work ! 😉
Excellent repair and so well done!
I really enjoy your work.
Have an excellent day.
Cheers.
Thank you!:)
We need a lick after this brilliant work 👌
Great repair work on a lovely instrument 👍
Thank you ☺️
Well done! Did your heart skip a beat when that crack widened? Mine did a little. 😳 As many have suggested here, it's all in a day's work. But still... outstanding job as always!! 🤠👍
Excellent work 👏 ❤ Nesrly invisible repairs sre hard to get right!!
That's an acoustic resonance soundhole pickup in that little guy. We call them acoustic expander pickups here in my shop. Not many players know what they are, but they are the next gen of the Tonewood Amp. . I sell a ton of them in my shop, but only after players try it in our demo guitar. They are very cool.
The thing that shocked me the most wasn't that the crack opened, it was the damage the bolt threads did to the side during the repair clamping. There were many ways they could have been protected!
It looks like that was just glue residue that she wiped away.
@@OhHeyFergy not convinced, even so, the threads on those clamp bars were precariously close to an unprotected finish. The fretboard gets taped but the sides don't? Hmm...
@@tonyd2764 "not convinced" lol She literally wiped the glue residue away with a rag, and you're complaining?

thank you for shearing this great video
Good as new!! 👏🏼
Gostei dessa ideia de sargento, top e parabéns pelo trabalho
Good job ! You are the best !
Thank you
nice work!
Ver4y nice recovery Tanya, sometime we make things worse before we make them better.
Fab video. Any chance of letting me know what's the pickup system on this guitar, please?
Video molto bello .. per la richilite che pulizia fai? Puoi far vedere anche la lavorazione dell'interno ... come hai istallato i supporti sulla fascia - grazie
Great job! Did you use suction cups to migrate the glue into any parts of the crack?
👏👏👏 great job! 👍
Thank you!
@@TanyaShpachuk 😉
клевые струбцины, надо бы тоже таких наделать, спасибо за идею :) А еще впечатлило, что лады полируете без малярного скотча даже, и все быстро и четко получается!
Tanya. You have restrung this differently than your stringing video! I do like this method
Una pregunta … veo que usas para rascar el sobrante de pegamento … no se ralla el diapasón ? Gracias
Awesome job. Congratulations Tanya.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I could still see the crack in the side
Awesome job! Where did you learn the trade?
Is this a solid wood Martin, or one of the HPL ones? Great work. Very interestng removal if the superglue. Is it naptha you are wiping the board with before chiseling????
You do very fine work Tanya, I'm impressed. If I may ask, how did you become interested in doing this kind of work?
another excellent job, a question, what number of sandpaper do you use to level the frets?
Thank you! It`s 240p
доброго ранку) Таня, подскажите, 505 клей это обычный цианокрилатный клей? То есть в принципе можно использовать любой секундный клей или космофен например? дякую)
👌good job 😎
Congratulations warrior
Tanya, can you make a video on soldering? We would love to see your skills.
Those braces looked a bit thick, but I'm only a clumsy amateur. Fish glue is a good alternative for hide glue I hear, though I haven't used it yet. Your work is solid, so and I like how you approach things.
Thanks for the therapy
Wow! Great work! I'm curious, are these cutters you use in the end - Knipex?
Yes and thank you!:)
Another great video. Awesome work! How are the English Classes coming along??
thank you, but weird question:)
How is your Ukrainian coming along, Billy? Or any of the many other languages you are learning?
Гарна робота!
Але мабуть потрібно на різьбові зʼєднання (болти) надіти короткі силіконові трубки. Це гарантує запобігти подряпинам на корпусі при такому варіанті склеювання. ;)
!!!! ATTENTION !!!!
We have a huge YT scam activity, so I remind you again - I do not hold any giveaways or contests, moreover, I do not have a public telegram channel, if someone try to contact with you like this - block them!
Be careful and don't fall for such scams.
Молодец. Чем ты протираешь остатки суперклея?
is that soap and water you use to clean on the fretboard?
Entende Portugues, Brasil, Congratulations !!!
Good job. I was scared seeing you use oversized gloves on the band saw. Simply wearing gloves with certain power tools is controversially thought by many to be dangerous, but wearing oversized gloves makes it much easier for the tool to hook your hand. I ask you to be more careful. Fretboard work is exactly what I do and I really enjoyed it. Brava!
Ok Tanya, no fence at all, but wasent the reinforst parts a bit thick? Must have been around some 4 to 5 mm thick. Otherwise I follow Your jobs that is just great and very learning for my self. Even a cheaper D Martin will have some care. Thank You so much.👍
wonderful work, you dont just fix the problem but go the extra mile. Do you receive work from the United States?
Nice work!
Thank you!
Tanya, where did you learn your luthier skills? Are you self-taught? or did you apprentice with someone?
Awesome work ❤
Always like to see what nail design on rhe video
