- We decided it was time to rip the M45 supercharger off our MX-5 and throw a Rotrex on it instead. Whilst the low-down grunt of the Mini 'charger makes it formidable on the street, we wanted to add a platform that supports 300hp. The Rotrex is the logical next step in achieving supercharged track domination. Leigh and James buy a used kit to find out what works and what doesn't, setting themselves the goal of doing a burnout as soon as it is installed.

Gotta love superchargers for the bolt-on power. We were fortunate the car already had an ECU & Wideband though which made life a lot easier.
BOFI Racing had a chunky rotrex on my civic and loved it... just amplifies vtec .. you’ll love it on track when you’re revving the nuts off it..

BOFI Racing 100%... the cars stuck at the tuner at the mo in isolation but pretty much any time after covid mess is over 👌🏼

I have seen some people trying different restrictors in inlet of Rotrex to be able to raise the speed without boost rampage.. .. to gain the low rev boost/torque of that type of blower..

Nice choice! I am running a similar setup over here, which are your plans regarding boost pressure and rev limit?
We will set the soft limiter to 7200 to keep the impeller speed bellow 120,000 rpm with the 75mm pulley. We did a log yesterday as it made 9 psi by 5,500rpm but has a big boost leak so didn't find out what it made at 7200. Hopefully somewhere around 12psi. It is much more efficient than the M45 that came off so will definitely make more power.

It will be. We have figured out a better route for the intercooler piping that involves redesigning the bracket. We would hope to have the kit out end of July. Thanks, you keep safe too!

We need to test the dual throttle body system with ABS, plus we'll probably install the kit on another of our cars so we can take it to shows for demo purposes.

Im not very familar with these rotrex superchargers but if i spin the turbine does it build pressure? it feels the turbine gets tightly and releases as i spin it. Is that normal?

Are you selling the brand new M45 supercharger with whole kits of mx5 NA 1.6 with ECU tune? Will you ship to overseas?
Our superchargers are checked for condition and serviced. Brand new M45s are very expensive and a bracket has to be cut off which would void the warranty. ECUs require tuning, but come with a base map. We ship to Europe, USA, Canada and Australia, but can ship anywhere on request.

Hey Leigh, how tall are you? Wondering about M2 seats if they would fit me. I'm 189cm(6'2''). I have trouble with holes for harnesses, they are not high enough, making them unsafe. Is your shoulder line above/blow the holes? Thanks!
Hey, I'm 5'11". The Sabelt GT090 is a tall seat that fits in the MX-5. I would recommend testing one though as they're better for bigger drivers.
@@BOFIRacingTV Thanks, I'll check it out. Do you think M2 seat is too little for me? I'm quite thin. I like that it goes very low with those doube fixing holes on the sides. Want harness bar to be as high as possible too in relation to shoulders.
I can get my full hand above my head sideways with the M2s, the mounts are cut right down to fit the seat. I'm about 70kgs and the M2 is by far the best fitting seat I have found for me so far. I can take some measurements of high the harness holes are for you.
@@BOFIRacingTV That would be great. From the seat to the holes. I never see this important measurement from manufacturers. Only few give from floor to holes, but not from the seat. Thanks

The kit was used. We'll be putting together our own kit for NA & NBs that will include full standalone management, intercooler etc.

The supercharger would heat the air up like crazy anyway so not much difference
A positive displacement supercharger on nothing. The rotrex is a waste.
