    I cannot overstate how thankful I am to have found this workflow and template. Its been a few months now, and I am consistently making progress understanding it and utilizing and performing with it - and it has been a miracle. Like, that might sound crazy to people, but for so many years I have been trying to make and play live music starting with guitar, then singing and playing guitar, then DAWs and midi, then hardware - and nothing has ever satisfied me enough. I always wanted more and more creative freedom. I guess the word to describe it is “orchestrate” - I wanted to orchestrate the sounds and music I had in my head but couldn’t get them out right.
    Elektron changed that, and then your work here took that to a whole new level I did not think was actually possible.
    Thank you Matt! I’m so glad I can support you and repay you through Patreon and Kofi.

    OK, I missed the live AB / recorded CD vs recorded AB / live CD situation after several runs through. And having nothing on CD yet didn't help. It's beginning to sink into my thick OLD skull slowly. Initially kinda nothing worked right. And I do think I have some improvements in gain staging to do. The trouble is the number of places where a level gets set. I have done pretty well with Eurorack so far, but this a whole other layer of complexity. I may try the Strymon pedal interface this weekend.

      Hmm. I am not sure what you mean exactly, are the pops while you are doing the freeze delay or afterwards?

    • @thebookofpower
      @thebookofpower 3 роки тому

      @@EZBOT_ yeah, not during the freeze delay, but when I release the delay and it catches back up with what’s playing it’s an audible clic at times. I know that happens because of the difference in audio amplitude between the delay and what’s playing, and likely because When I press the freeze delay sometimes it’s not exactly at a zero crossing. I was hoping the octatrack had some auto fade features or an envelope to adjust the attack of the original audio when the freeze is released.

I mean, even after reading all 3 manuals ( elektron, merlins guide and synthdawg) I´m still having a hard time to figure out what to do..! Especially when it comes to (re)sampling, there are so many different ways to initiate a recording! Hi! First of all thanks for the tutorials and videos, they're incredible. I was wondering why are you using neighbor tracks instead of using the freeze delay directly in the thru track's effects. Same goes for the resample tracks, that could record the audio directly from the thru tracks. ¿Am I wrong to think so? Thanks again for the help.

      I chose the the NEIGHBOR tracks because I wanted the end of the chain. I want to be able to resample or freeze the audio after I have affected it with whatever effects I have chosen. Putting it before the NEIGHBOR track would limit me to the effects on the THRU track.

    On 5:22 you say that to make sure that the track scale needs to match the master length. I guess there is is step missing before which is to activate the Scale per Track with FUNC+PTN.
    On the video you only do that for Track 5. Do I need to set Track 6 and 7 to 64 too? Note that when I extend the tracks to 64 steps after putting a trigger on the first step of the track 1, 3, 5, 6 and 7. the OT puts a trig on every new page created (at the beginning at 2:4, 3:4 and 4:4) Is this how is it supposed to be or only at 1:4?

    • @EZBOT_
      @EZBOT_  4 роки тому +1

      If you want to use the "Arranger" in the OT you need to use it as the master. You do not need any hubs. Using the arranger will alter this setup dramatically and it will no longer function in the same way. You can still use all the affects but the idea of "live resampling" is to have no boundaries. Though there is a feature in the OT arranger that allows you to loop a segment infinitely or until you want to move forward manually.

I have the OT set as the master for an A4 (inputs A-B) hooked up through midi and a 404 (C-D) not hooked up through midi. Everything appears to be recording and does so when I slide the fader over on the master scene. When I try to ad hi hats or something it pops up right away no matter which side the fader is on or the scene. Mind you I have set up a new project with just this as I was hoping to have just an mixer type template that I could refer back to. IDK, I think it has something to do with the scenes.

    Ok, so I got myself an Octatrack mk2… been playing n studying hard for a week now, so I can better understand these excellent instructional vids. After a first viewing, I can summarize my take home as “Octatrack… blah blah blah…”
    I can’t figure how nearly 12 minutes of my life went by like somebody’d spiked my coffee with amyl nitrite… well…. man is this some complex stuff. I was happy just getting my old Emax samples in there and mixing them in with live guitar, mics and synths in C/D, and a Black box taking in the cued mix and mixing it out to inputs A/B.
    Really, two scientific degrees and programing skills, and it still makes me feel braindead…wasn’t enough to have a vintage Gibson and a wonderfully patient wife to make feel like a total meritless idiot… nooooo… The masochist in me had to get an Octatrack…

    So far I'm having a couple of issues. I can't seem to make freeze delay work so far at all. The OT is telling me the record memory fills up, even when I reduce to 16 steps. My only external gear is my Eurorack, so I only used "A B" on 1, Neighbor on 2, Flex on 3, Static kick/snare/hat on 5,6,7 and Master on 8. My current project is 32 bpm, so I'm thinking that has a lot to do with the memory running out. BTW, by fader is so "loose" that holding the OT on it's side it will drop to the bottom by itself. Is this normal on the OT? So little felt resistance seems odd to me. It seems to work fine.
