@@lambchop6278 it's so weird, in the past movie they made Dorian so dark and that's not the point with him. Maybe I'm a little too invested because I love the book and Oscar Wilde, like literally the first thing they say about Dorian in the book is that he is angel like
@@jaquelinemontero7057RIGHT!! I hate how they keep on making him look emo, he's supposed to look innocent and angel like and one shouldn't expect how evil he's turn out. Thankfully there's one version from the 1970s that finally makes him blond
For Everyone's Information: The song is called "Oh leave me not to pine" and is sung by the character Mabel, a soprano, in Act II of "The Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert & Sullivan, written in 1879. Joan Sutherland and Linda Ronstadt had a go at it, but Jude sings it perfectly for its spot in this film. What a poignant moment! and then there's that tongue....
Figaro48 I agree :) I love that when he sings the line he loves me he is looking straight at Oscar. During the rest of the song he doesnt focus on one particular spot... I dont know if that was directed or completely out of the blue but it worked so well
I love this movie soooooo much, and I really didn't think I would 'cause I'm a total Wilde snob and I thought that inaccuracies would spoil it. The casting was AMAZING and Fry and Law had fantastic chemistry! This part always makes me crack up though, wholly on account of the way Law sings "fa-la-la" with his tongue - I joked to my friend that I was half expecting him to say "fa-la-la-la-latio"
Oh, leave me not to pine Alone and desolate; No fate seemed fair as mine, No happiness so great! And Nature, day by day, Has sung in accents clear This joyous roundelay, "He loves me -- he is here. Fal, la, la, la, Fal, la, la, la. He loves me -- he is here. Fal, la, la, Fal, la!"
Was expecting to see a glimpse of the bumming scene that comes straight after. I thought it was quite cheeky editing in the film itself. Bosie looks so innocent here! (As he was)
just hanging with my boys while one of our bros sings us all a love song.
Just guys being dudes
I wanna be one of the boys 😟
I really have to see this movie. Also, Jude Law would've made a good Dorian Gray.
Yeeees I thought I was the only one thinking that
@@jaquelinemontero7057 Nup! I've thought that too!! Don't know why they cast someone else in the more recent remake.

Bosie look like a angel but was an angel of evil.
I love Jude Law ♥
Bosie don't evil angel, is true Heaven Angel, in other form clair, don't because his 'gay', but because his Bosie Bosie "tosse".

How wise of this film to give me my own song (I, however, fancy I would song better than Mr. Law. Even if his beauty almost matches my own).
congrats this is my favorite comment on the internet
Bosie!
Jude Law should have gotten an Oscar for his performance in Wilde. He was amazing.
Jude law is so pretty ❤❤❤

Ok he is just sinfully adorable!
Oh, leave me not to pine

ugggh he is so beautiful :((((
I think this scene is meant to prove how you can sing like a dog in pain but others will forgive it because of your looks, lol
I wouldn’t say he sang like a dog. He sang naturally without affectations. And yes, he’s delicious.
He’s soooo beautiful
i don't know about you, but i think khis singing is just perfect .. love you jude

'Cheeky' being the operative word.
Innocent and Bosie don't belong in the same sentence...
@@pickleslicker türk 😳 aman tanrım.
Jude Law is a man of many talents... Singing is not one of them. I still love this clip though (I wish I knew where I could find the full movie).

@misscharisma90
Yes. Just like all of Oscar Wilde's books are for gays.
Why do you say? That you are stupid or what
I take it that you speak from experience, have read them all , dare I say when you were not chasing........
OOOOO SAYYYY CAN YOU SEEEEEEEE-- oh wait wrong country sorry...
Stephen Fry’s fixed pleading/pitiful/puzzled expression is annoying.
