I love thread crochete! I can crochete easily with yarn but I never can seem to get the tension right with thread. My Grandmother was a total pro at thread crochete--and you are too!!
My tension was sooo loose when I first started, then after awhile you find what feels right. (After the 1st floppy Doiley or 2). I haven't crocheted for the longest time.
As for attaching edgings--as far as I know the edging is just whip stitched onto the edge of the fabric. That enables the lace to be easily taken off the fabric if it becomes too stained or worn out. Although I am not sure about fitting corners. Maybe the straight edge is crocheted and attached to the fabric, then the corner edging is crocheted to fit the fabric corner and stitched on. And repeat. Just a guess.
Your pattern collection is nothing short of amazing. Love your doilies. I crochet a lot, but mainly scarves and blankets and, more recently, baby sweaters. So relaxing!

When i first started everything was tooo loose! Maybe try to telax your hands and not concentrating so hard on pulling the thread! Good luck keep trying! Are u making doilies? Thats all i make... would like scrapes mittens and socks but don't know how

I never did attempt edgings, but I admire the edgings I've seen on old pieces I have found.

What a beautiful collection! Whenever I try to crochet, It becomes so tight. I'm convinced that if I can remedy that, I wouldn't have any problems.

Yes, would like to make doillies. I'm going to continue to try; just have to loosen up a bit.
