One of the great things about watching this channel is that you are introduced to so many people working in the entertainment industry you havent heard of before.
i like how he mentioned roaming library aisles and finding gems. i found 'fishing with john' that way. couldn't really find any good pickings from the aisles i usually frequented, so i wandered over to the sports vhs tapes. and behold! that is how that bizarre gem was found. next to a tape on bass-fishing in wisconsin.
If you haven't seen Hale County This Morning, This Evening, please, please, please do yourself a favor and watch it. Incredible documentary. So cool to see RaMell on here.
Man's bag was practically overflowing. 😂 I respect it. Good to see someone grab a Western. Not enough people go for the Westerns & Jubal is proper underrated.
The mysterious off-camera hand makes its rare appearance to reach in and give special items to a closet visitor. Where are these wondrous Dvds kept if they aren't in the closet proper? Why are they kept elsewhere? And the voice-over narrator whispers "No one knows."
They used to have room for the big box sets on the lowest shelves. Now they’ve all been relocated off camera to the mysterious room….. does that mean we might get a larger criterion closet soon???
WHAT?!?! Bruce Lee box set is in the CC?!? I feel like they've been keeping it a secret!! Thanks 'Helping Hand'!! LOL!!! When he mentioned 'Cameraperson' I thought he was talking to the person filming him, hahaha! I always love when "Ghost Dog" gets picked!
The Hand of Fate, but not Manos. When he talked about grabbing movies at the library based on their titles, I knew he’d be an ideal candidate for the random pick.
I don’t know who RaMell Ross is, but he seems to be an interesting fellow so I’ll have to look him up. I also love when the guests fill the bag to the brim, so well done!
I've already own Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samurai last month for the 50%off at barnes and noble and is really peak cinema it does have John Wick and Denzel's The Equalizer vibe and style and if you watched carefully you can feel Martin Scorsese Goodfellas style and a really killer musical score and soundtrack by RZA
Such sacrifices have to be made in order to achieve greater intellectual enlightenment. What's wrong with mispronouncing a word everybody knows you're referencing? The man made several insightful turns of phrase in the video so he had deeper things to say than to get a simple word right
@@hodun8 I sensed you would respond that way and completely ignore my point of "What does it matter getting something right that you know people will understand (you know he's referencing a library) when you can get them to see deeper knowledge? Language is developed when we are young so he probably picked it up from somebody else. Why fault him for a mispronunciation that he may have picked when he was too young to know he was pronouncing it wrong?
@@mmayer1558 It's wrong because it's wrong. If I pronounce "biblioteca" as "biblioturkey", the Spanish can probably assume I'm asking for the library but the fact remains I'm doing a disservice to the language and showing disrespect to the country. I am the product of two parents who taught high school English so, yes, this does matter to some of us!

And no mention of Criterion Channel App. This is a must.
Very true. Even movie buffs have their blind spots. Like Criterion itself, these videos spotlight artists.
Be on the lookout for his upcoming film, Nickel Boys. It’s supposed to be incredible.
And some films you’ve never heard of before.
so why do we care?
"People should digest work, not encounter it!" Underrated quote.

Surprised more people don't completely fill their bag.
Should check out Viggo's if you haven't, all westerns
When Viggo was in he went full Western! 😂👍
Such eclectic picks. This is the ❤ of the criterion collection.

Its a Van, so probably in another vehicle.

See Nickel Boys! It's perfectly executed!
Interesting movies he chose. Happy to see that he likes Tarkovsky’s movies and Bruce Lee.
His knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for film comes through. I'll have to watch La Jetée/Sans Soleil combo and re-watch Ghost Dog and The Tin Drum.
loved his commentary - brilliant!
Great director and artist!
"To Sleep With Anger" getting numerous nods of love in these recent videos.
The Hand of Fate, but not Manos. When he talked about grabbing movies at the library based on their titles, I knew he’d be an ideal candidate for the random pick.
mst3k manos hands of fate -- "LOOK honey!...It's a statue of BAAAH-UUUUUL"
RaMell is the goat ! Hale County This Morning This Evening is one of the best docs you'll ever see
Visitors should spin around 8 1/2 times for the random pick. Or as many times as there are titles in the collection
“People on the other end.” I like that
Ita zound likes movie!!!
I love his spinning around 3 times in order to get something completely random!
Dude! I've been promoting Delmer Daves for ever -- good pick.
He's got nothing on Dave Delmers and his excellent film, 'Abjul'
I loved the novel, so I'm really looking forward to seeing The Nickel Boys film adaptation!
Can we please expect The Nickel Boys in Criterion?
Second this. Both "Nickel Boys" and "Hale County This Morning, This Evening" should be priorities for Criterion to release in 2025.
“You need to bring it in. You need to EAT it.”

You don’t drop that Wong Kar Wai set in your bag like that. I carried mine home like it was nitroglycerin.
"The Wages of Wong", "Drive My Kar", "The Bridge Over The River Wai"
Note to @criterioncollection: please prevent future guests from leaving the closet till they properly discussed their picks.

He sounds like Malkovich a little bit.
Exquisite
Good to see someone in there with such restraint.
Did he say "liberry?"
That was one greedy back haul. Free Xmas gifts by the looks of it for others
Everybody and Anybody goes in there now

@mmayer1558 if he's so enlightened he should know how it's pronounced. In that case he's doing it on purpose which would be asinine
