    Thank God for Rebel Wisdom. Challenging all narratives has really made a difference in how I engage in news dissemination.
    As someone who works heavily with global coworkers and clients, I simply was not seeing any correlation between what was happening in business, supply chain, woke, relations, and news. Not to mention how the market is behaving. There is a MASSIVE disconnect with reality.
    For instance, When I got covid, I literally had to seek out medical papers and virologists discussing the subject to figure out what the hell to do with myself, as the "official" narrative was so fear mongering and over compensating.
    I'll have to chime in on a campfire to tell you all about my journey someday.
    Anyway, thanks.

    I love longform interviews. I hesitate to listen to anything less than one hour.
    I have been able to synthesize a lot of information and put it to good use. When I have time to spend with individuals and explain what I am learning their lives get better. I distill the information to share with them what they need to know. I am a physician.
    I often hesitate to talk to my colleagues because they are so busy. They do not have time for a nuanced conversation. Soundbites can alienate.

    all the exploration around the conspirists just makes me think that our primary issue is an obsession with scapegoating (as a slipshod way of feeling personal power,) and a complete failure of curiosity and understanding. but, i must say, we've never been trained to be curious....id love to see more voices encouraging that collective cultivation. also, the ability to handle 'sitting in the unknown' or being 'a face in the crowd.'

    Excellent interview! Just want to add that, yes, we are becoming a more emotional society but this is because we are feeling more, which surely is what is needed - more empathy please! It is the inability to understand the healing power of our emotions, of what we are feeling, that is on full display, so let's not consider emotional reactions as signs of intellectual lack......baby steps on the road to emotional intelligence

    People say that quality rises to the top but it’s usually quality that reinforces the status quo. Anything that questions the status quo is ignored. There is a readymade audience for status quo ideas, not for truly rebellious ideas.

    My main disappointment is how such _supposed_ relevant conversation around conspiracy, narrative manipulation, tech conformity (like the part about physical interaction with tech), and mistrust....yet no mention at all about something as important and current as the removal of the dislike counter on videos now. For that matter, no discussion about removal of the dislike counter previously years ago on regular comments. How do you straight-faced support work like _The coddling of the American Mind_ by Johnathan Haidt, but don't see the relationship between _Voting Rights_ and silencing of discontentment in media and tech?
    Hoping there's enough agreement to get you to notice the importance of this to at least be worthy of discussion.

    • @paulwary
      @paulwary 2 роки тому +2

      Don't know that I agree with requiring them to talk about the dislike counter, but yes it's outrageous that they removed it, and everyone using UA-cam regularly knows why. But new users won't know that any unwelcome opinions are gradually being removed altogether. Soon there won't be a way to express certain opinions at all - the system will parse it, and reject it immediately. And the most unwelcome information will be the simple truth that this is happening at all.

    • @JH-ji6cj
      @JH-ji6cj 2 роки тому +1

      @@paulwary yes, you're right. Those younger generations will be _coddled, led_ into expecting that dislikes, disagreement, challenges are _wrong_ because big overlord YT taught us so.
      The AI suggests videos you've already watched so that it can (either) track whether you remember you've seen it, or give them more input engagement by getting you to answer the rejection questions (inappropriate, I've already watched, uninterested).
      Another thing about the AI that isn't being talked about is how that when you try to exit your 'bubble' you then get so many similar recommendations (as if you now support the different view) that it pushes people away from exploring those views when they are able to curate their channel. That isn't a nefarious effect imo, just an effect, but a negative unintended consequence.
      If you look at your Google emoticons, if you are white, you won't see a black representation of emoticons to choose from, which encourages the black/white divide and makes me wonder how that info is being generated.
      I had a YT sponsored advert with the title _"How Gay Are You?'_ as a questionnaire-type almost public service announcement type look. How is that reasonable?
      Children (and adults for that matter) are being told that all existing thinking and behavior are social constructs, what's _actually_ nefarious/damaging is that the new social contracts _aren't_ being presented as also creating new social constructs and ask what those new attempted norms are tracking to create/embody. Those are the currency that I wish this channel was speaking more to, though I am appreciative of things they DO explore and bring up. I do recognize it's a lot to parse out and that my personal filter is just that, my own experience.

    I dont belive we ar3 becoming a "more" emotional society. I think k we always had the capacity for so many emotions , but the outlets for them was never so proliferated and user friendly before, not to mention cheap. I do believe they were right in pointing out that they had luck being born in a time before the internet, such that they had the opportunity to learn a healthier model with witch to regulate their emotions and be aware of how a massive imbalance in regulatory capacity leads to an impediment when it comes to interacting with the world. Not trying to imply that repressing your emotions is the answer, just that in SOME situations its preferable, and the internet is making it difficult to even remember the option we all have of NOT catastrophizing things like waiting in line or an idol of ours did something bad etc.

    I’ve listened to this discussion about 2hours ago and I’m still feeling angry,frustrated,deeply disappointed with the poor quality ,shallow analysis specially regarding conspiracy theories.glib dismissal of many valid reasons why many people think that the decks are stacked,governments lie and deceive.no analysis of propaganda or power differences.not a mention of weaponised technology and I mean in possession of the military or it’s use on civilian population.or a question of government/military secrets .or the carbon emissions generated by the military- they are the biggest emitters.my list of what was missing from this highly agreeable exchange is much longer and I would like to be in a position to write a comprehensive analysis but sadly I’m not . I would like to see follow up interview with someone like William I Robinson (the global police state) or anyone who is familiar with whistle blower disclosures and consequences. 🥵

    I'm siding with the disappointed here. With all due respect to journalistic experience of how governments operate, if you focus mainly on that and can't be bothered with a point by point refutation of scientific details presented by a significant number of architects and engineers in their critique of the 9/11 investigation, then this conversation is next to useless. Why not acknowledge their demand for a new investigation, and examine whether or not their logic is sound. You could say that such a new investigation might indeed result in some adjustments to the 'official narrative' -- while noting how some unscrupulous commentators (Jones, etc) have gotten way ahead of things and muddied the waters.
    'Cryptoqueen' perpetrated a convincing, widespread deception, took her profit and simply vanished, never to be held accountable. Yet when it comes to the notion that equally clever, high level power brokers with unlimited resources at their disposal may have fooled the rest of us on a much larger scale, journalists scoff and distance themselves. But suppose they looked closer, and finally found a rip in the facade large enough to reveal that we've been living in one huge 'Truman Show', deceived and manipulated by a secret cabal every day of our lives. What then? Psychologically an interesting point for discussion, akin to a revelation of ET's. Probably the greater mass of people will still believe what they want to believe, regardless of the evidence. With virtual reality in the ascendant, even the act of exposing systematic deception may become impossible.

    Understanding of highschool physics is sufficient to know that WTC 7 could _not_ have come down the way it did (free fall acceleration for the first 1 second or more, a fact acknowledged by NIST and can be calculated by anyone with the video and knowledge of highschool physics and height of different floors) without several floors below being simultaneously demolished before the fall of the top floors _began_ .
    No one with the knowledge at least of highschool physics, with integrity and a functioning brain can claim that WTC 7 could have come down the way it did without the knowledge and active involvement of the US government and yet it was never acknowledged even after 20 years.
    No conspiracy there. 🙄
    Now, coming to the Anthrax attacks. For _seven_ years after the attacks, the US government was unable to identify the perpetrator, who could have been one of only 100 people living in the US. After seven years after the attacks, when one of the hundred commits suicide, he is identified as the perpetrator.
    No conspiracy there either. 🙄

    I liked and agreed with 99% of what Jamie had to say until he said he was a free speech ‘absolutists’. It’s not that I don’t understand the fear / consequences of being cancelled when your financial livelihood is dependent upon podcast/UA-cam viewership and support, but being an absolutist when it comes to free speech seems less than courageous given the vast number of people incapable of discerning fact from fiction.
    1:07: “ending online anonymity which i think is a mad idea. It wouldn’t work - it would be detrimental to so many of us.”
    1:11 - “The other bit of censorship I worry about is self censorship … the fear - you want to say something, you have strong views about something but you’re scared your office is going to get a call; people will insult you or judge you. This is why online anonymity is important.
