Remaking an older sequence with some better knowledge. Made in Blender. Edited in Davinci Resolve. Asteroid Model from Marc Bell. Akira from STO. Music from Thunderbirds are Go.
Love the use of the Thunderbird theme along with the pod change! The Akira is my favorite starship class and you hit it out of the part with this video
The Akira class is my favorite non-series ship. If the Defiant was Starfleet's warship prototype, the Akira was what came after. Also, I like how you have the interchangeable weapons pods. For when the captain's like, "Hmm, how do I want to blow up the enemies of the Federation today? "
I love the changeable modules and the way they get swapped in and out here. I didn't realize that the Akira-class supported that feature, but it makes sense.
Very nicely done! I’ve always loved the Akira-class since it first showed up in First Contact. I love how you have swappable Mission Pods, and accompany this with the Thunderbirds theme. This looks like a teaser trailer for a Star Trek series I never will get to see.
Did a picture of it sporting that pod a while back: cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/964342129373630484/1096791592846770227/Challenger_5.png?ex=6533d445&is=65215f45&hm=9171b3c40b4f556c319d83e7b3b99dca95614251ed3f1a01e7bbfa459dfb9ec7&
The pod change reminds me of THUNDERBIRDS the TV show from England. As a child I loved it when they’d change pods on Thunderbird 2. Good job. Looks amazing! Thanks.
It feels like it's happening much faster than the average vanity shot. That and the music are telling me this story of the USS Challenger being one of Starfleet's Rapid Response heavy Cruisers. Distress call comes into the station, and the on duty crew equips the appropriate mission pod and gets the ship moving in minutes, in a sector where a conventional specialized response could take days or weeks to mount
Would be nice to see more of this style of ship. I had one 3d printed that now hangs in my shop. According to some of the side stories there are a couple of modified Akira class starships that are basically like dreadnoughts. The Thunderchild being one of them.
That gives me an interesting idea... system defense ships that can select a previously prepared loadout based on whatever threat shows up, possibly even have another version that swaps between mining, transport, scanning, or building packages at need for system development. Basically a jack-of-all-trades ship that can switch specialist modules at need.
Great animation. The only nitpick I would bring up is that on the weapons pod there are only 4 rear facing torpedo launchers and not 6, also under the deflector dish should be another dual bank torpedo launcher. Otherwise it's always great to see the Akira class.
I have something that may not quite be a nitpick, but it is disconcerting. On the underside of the saucer, are the windows that would have to be in the floor of those rooms. That seems kinda like it’d be unpleasant for the occupants of those rooms, just sayin’.
@@turbopokey Those lower view ports are in the engineering sections of the saucer section. Most likely those windows are in labs for visual planetary surveys or windows for engineers to not feel so claustrophobic. I do agree that if those were crew quarter windows it would be disconcerting if your windows were in the floor and not the walls.
Looks great, well done! Two small alterations I would make, personally: 1) Slow down the weapons pod attachment. When it's too fast you lose the sense of scale; it makes the whole thing feel small and light. I'd also add some clamping type sounds effects. From the way I've read this described, it's supposed to be more of a 'couple of hours of faffing about to get it installed' type thing, not a slap-on from the hand of god. 2) The bit with the docking lights strip turning from red to green. For me they just get in the way of the ship. I'd maybe pull the camera up a little so they're not coving the ship. That's all I could focus on as it was leaving, which is the best part!
Thanks for the feedback. Getting the pod to move at the right speed was a giant pain and took forever. I was also trying to keep things in time to the music I was going to use.
Okay that was pretty cool, especially seeing the various modules and how one gets attached to the ship. Something I don’t think any official Star Trek has done. Very cool
ah yes one of my favorites in the game!.......mostly due to the wide variety of Struts and Necelles you can customize "refit" it with as well has the Miranda-class variants. Other Federation ships in the game just don't get as many cool wings as these two!
This Challenger seem to be a design variant off of the normal Akira. Missing the couple main hull torpedo tubes, the mission pods are modular, and it doesn't appear to have the large hangar bay for its large small craft complement.
Hi there, just wondering how you exported the STO model? I've been looking to try and do that with my ship for ages and am finding resources a little thin on the ground 😕
Appropriate that you used the music from the Thundetbird 2 launch sequence from Thunderbirds Are Go: like TB2, Challenger has an interchangable upper pod system for different mission profiles
Finally somebody uses the Thunderbirds theme! Love the reference to Thunderbird 2's pods.
My feelings exactly!
I know!!! The moment I saw this video, it was awesome to the USS Challenger to be deployed for rescue in space!!!!!
Looks great, finally someone who uses an Akira class.
Nice Thunderbird 2 vibes with the mission pods rack!
And the music
FAB
The Akira class definitely deserves hero starship status...love it!!💯💯✌️
Thunderbirds are go!
Loved the cheeky little homage in the music, too.

Excellent sound track to accompany the video! Excellently put together!
Soundtrack sneakily robbed from a kids TV show

i personally prefer sovereign, parliament and luna. But i do love akira interchangable weapons platform
If you like the Defiant and Akira you might enjoy them working together: ua-cam.com/video/qibjUfNk4cE/v-deo.html
The Thunderbird 2 launch sequence music fits this scene perfectly!
Well done with the smooth uninterrupted shot, no cuts, very nice
I like how one of the pods looks like a sensory suite from a nebula class means this ship can become one hell of a scout ship too
I love the changeable modules and the way they get swapped in and out here. I didn't realize that the Akira-class supported that feature, but it makes sense.
Not sure that canonically does, but honestly it does make sense.
Lol. Thunderbirds theme for a thunderbird-2-esque launch. *tips his hat*
The music gave it a Gerry Anderson feel.
I really love the idea you had with the weapon pod being interchangeable. ❤❤
Cool looking ship!!!
Extra torpedo module?
Dang! Loaded for bear!!😮
If it's similar to the Nebula Class pod selection, it looked like it may be the tactical pod? Maybe weapons pod? 🤔
Interplanetary Rescue on the way! FAB!
Absolutely gorgeous. Akira class for life. Phenomenal work
Belle imagination, belle créativité. Bravo et poursuivez !

Ooh an Akira with the Nebula mission pod would look cool! Makes me think of a Starfleet C2 ship, basically a 24th century AWACS.

@@johnkingmob Thanks for my new desktop wallpaper 👍
@@johnkingmob Wow, that looks way better than I thought it would.
I wondered why it had the new thunderbird theme, never occurred to me it was for the mission pods 😂😂

Akira 4 to the rescue!
This ship is my Favorit in STO
😁👍

Only we've seen saucer separations not shown was weapons pods now we see that which is cool.
@@shauljonah6955 true but I meant the modules like shown above in that type of setting in dry dock
Nice touch with the modular mission pod.
I do love asteroid bases over the framework bases
Bad-ass !!! 😎👍

KICKIN' music!
This class is neat and probably uses quantum torpedoes as well.nicely done hiding it being built inside an asteroid. 😊❤❤❤😊🎉🎉🎉🎉 wish I was there.
Interchangeable weapons pod. Nice touch.
Looks really good. I like it a lot. Well done
Thanks man! Loving your Voyager stuff!
I saw what you did there...FAB!
Bravo!
Akira class is one of the best looking ships
Good work! Love it!
very nice.
Cut a perfect circle from an asteroid
Bird of prey crossed with thunderbird 2
Nice, really nice.
NICE
I used to like spamming out the Akiras in Star Trek Armada.
Thunderbirds are Go!
now do one with a warp core breach right after leaving the space dock.
This Challenger seem to be a design variant off of the normal Akira. Missing the couple main hull torpedo tubes, the mission pods are modular, and it doesn't appear to have the large hangar bay for its large small craft complement.
The hanger bay doors are appear to be closed which makes sense when traveling at warp or when they aren’t in use.
Very nice 👍 There's nothing more to say. I really like it. 😊
Was the music deliberately meant to sound like thunderbirds with the T2 style mission pods lol
It's actually the Thunderbird 2 launch sequence theme from the animated TV series Thunderbirds Are Go.
No wonder it sounded so familiar!
Thunderbird muisc lol
Question, how did you get the STO texture mapped onto the STO model? Been able to rip the model but not sure on texture.
