    When I worked for Chanel, we would go to Chanel school to learn about all of the new makeup coming out for the season. When I first went to basic school it was a 3 day training at the Ritz Carlton here in Chicago. So luxurious! Well at each school something odd would happen lights flicker, a faucet turned on by itself etc. My trainer always said that it was Coco saying "Hi" to us. I really began to believe it. Your reviews are amazing Dacob. You truly do justice to Coco's spirit and what she went through in her life. Thank you!

    Excellent review! I almost bought Coromandel back in 2007…I “thought” that I should buy it because it was such a beautiful fragrance. But, at the moment I was taking out my wallet in the Chanel boutique, I “felt” in my heart that I just couldn’t buy it. As I sniffed it on my skin, it made me feel inauthentic… the fragrance didn’t bring me joy or even speak to me. It didn’t feel like a part of me. So, I left the boutique without it. From time to time, I sniff my sample of Coromandel (EDT), and that’s all I need of it. I respect the quality of it and it’s wonderful that so many people love Coromandel. The Les Exclusifs line is pure luxury and I revel in the 5 of them that I have.

    Cormandel was one of the last Les Exclusifs I added to my collection because for years, I just couldn’t stand it. This fragrance has such a sadness hiding inside and I don’t find it pleasing at all. But over time I got to love this melancholic mirror to the past with all the loved ones whose shells have already left us.
    Thank you for this poetic review. You perfectly expressed how I feel about Coromandel. Goosebumps.❤

    It's always a pleasure listening to you talking about Chanel as a whole, and this is hands down one of the best fragrance reviews I've ever come across, especially when it comes to Chanel. Your insights on Coromandel were brilliant, and your presentation was top-notch. Fantastic work! 👏👏👏

    The perfume review as art...this is the first review of Coromandel I've seen which enunciates just how deep and challenging a perfume it truly is. I don't wear perfume for compliments but I can attest that Coromandel literally stops people in their tracks when I wear it, and the reaction is different every time.

    “Keep Smiling”…..Dacob, this review had me misty. What Coco was feeling? not wanting to be alone in that room, or to sleep alone, wanting to hear people? Sleepwalking!
    (wow I have something in common with Coco😢)
    your thoughts on what the panels HID, not just their external beauty but what’s behind them hidden away? And the thoughts of the smells of her childhood ( convent stones incense ) 😌 How you LET, perfumes tell you a story and you share with us…the different stories of Coromandel. Also the facts that these perfumes are ART!
    Just such a thoughtful, thorough and meaningful review! I’ve always leaned more towards the lighter Chanel perfumes, ( except for my 15yr old bottle of Coco EDP )
    The Coromandel Les Exclusifs and the EDP, were the only ones I’ve been able to sample, they brought me back to the 80s a bit I must say. I loved the deepness and darkness of them, def. On my dream buy list for fall.
    I just loved this review, like poetry… I’ve been in this dark place the past few years. I smile I try to make people laugh, I dress up to go to the grocery store,act like I’m great… ha but behind closed doors? I’m a sleepwalking, nervous, anxious, sad….and yes
    (self induced) lonely hot mess….boy did I feel this review! 💕

    I always loved your thoughtful and poetic reviews, which are an island of hope in this often enough superficial field. This one I already listen twice, it is very touching. The shadows of the past and that Coco, or we, want to distance ourselves from them. It must have been very difficult for a power woman like her to witness how she became slowly a shadow herself.I could almost feel the sadness you describe. Thank you, Dacob! Love, Sylke

    Indeed, it's quite captivating how Coco Chanel's legacy endures. Are mere mortals allowed to visit Coco's apartment?
    Leos are always fighters, I would say fierce warriors in the battlefield of life, yet solitary souls navigating a world that often fails to grasp their true essence.
    I know something about that. Beautiful review. Giving me goosebumps. Thank you for your presence. Can't thank you enough, Dear Dacob. 🥰 xoxo

    Coromandel is the first fragrance I purchased from the Les Exlusifs collection. It is beautiful and definitely in my top 3. I was recently in a boutique to try out and purchase Comète and when I told the SA what some of my favorites were, she suggested layering Coromandel over Le Lion. I’m typically not a fan of layering fragrances, but I tried it as a soon as I got home, and it makes for a beautiful fragrance combo. It somehow smooths out some of the initial screechy aspects of Le Lion as well as some of the dirtiness of Coromandel and they just melt into each other.

    I tried Coromandel a week ago, and while I was walking around and on my way home, I was keep smelling my hand. It is the kind of perfume I would like my whole house to smell like, very sophisticated, deep but comforting in the same time. My thoughts are running to a boudoir, dark, velvet curtains or sofas, candles, a place that is hiding lot of secrets, intimate. Not suitable to wear it outside, it doesn’t work with the frenetic pace of city life.

    I love Coromandel. Because it is such a concentrated in your face fragrance I will usually wear it at waist level and behind the knees then use something lighter elsewhere. I’m o.k. to add a little gardenia perfume on my upper body as it’s one of my signatures . They blend well on me. Looking forward to eventually trying the remake. It’s time for me to visit the boutique and catch up.

  • @rfbuffy

    Dacob, I know you said you need all three and that is probably true to truly know it, but I will allow myself only one. I plan to get some formulation of Coromandel for my birthday. I have ruled out searching down the EDT because I don’t want to fall in love and not be able to get it again. What I would like to know is between the EDP and parfum, which would you say emphasizes the frankincense and turns down the patchouli a notch? I know the patchouli in Chanel is the most tolerable to me, but because it is not my favorite note since it seems to turn up high on my skin and because frankincense IS a love of mine, which do you think would be best within those terms? I am leaning towards the extrait unless you say it is more patchouli forward, because I like close to the skin scent when the notes tend to be heavier like those of Coromandel. It would really help me out and my pocket book to get some guidance. Thank you!

    • @essence-tiallydacob9611
      @essence-tiallydacob9611  12 днів тому +1

      They are both (edp and parfum) heavy on the patchouli. The parfum is softer though so I would recommend that one if you can find it currently, since Chanel have for the moment discontinued all their les exclusifs parfums and we are not sure if and when they will be back and in which capacity or size.

    Omg I absolutely have the same experience with coromandel. It’s so beautiful but I just can’t get past something inside it to buy the edp. I do have the Extrait and I can handle that because I usually just sniff it from time to time. I feel like I won’t be purchasing coromandel in my journey for awhile. I currently own Gardenia, beige, no 22, le lion, and comete in edp.

    Just beginning to listen and watch … Coromandel was the first of the Les Exklusifs I tried. Back in 2007, in a CHANEL boutique in Hong Kong. I kept all the testpapers … and loved them during all of those years, but never bought them. My first Les Exklusif in my possession was No.22 not so long ago. Loving them all, love Cométe and all of them. Except No.18, which I gave away.
    Thank you so much, dear Dacob! Thanks for all the stories and movies living in my head now - connected to those wonderful scents.
    Coromandel is a very deep and imho difficult, precious scent. It´s the only one making me sad in a certain way, more sad than Cristalle EdT … may Cocos soul rest in peace … 🤍🩶

      @essence-tiallydacob9611  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you Kay 🙏🏻💖 Coromandel has that sadness for me too. I agree. No19 parfum as well. Cristalle has a sadness connected to Coco but overall Cristalle makes me very happy. All of them do actually haha but each perfume in its own special way. No18 is a wonderful complex fragrance as well but is brandy based which can be off-putting to some.

      Yes, the "grappa" note disturbed me. Much worse is "Yvresse" - the worst of all scents - for me.
      But there are so many beautiful scents made by CHANEL "noses" - that the missing No.18 is no big loss for me ... at the moment.
      At the moment I'm just so happy with my few ml of COMÉTE. 🤍💛🌠
      COROMANDEL is a history lesson, not a scent to apply and start the day.
      It literally made me cry listening to you, looking at you and experiencing the scent at the same time.
      Concerning No.19 - I just found a really big vintage extrait and a vintage Eau de Toilette Splash. Soo beautiful!
      🥰💚🤍
