    Bro! What can I say, I just love watching your videos. Simple, classy, good quality & packed with useful information. I'm 40 & I recently started longboarding. Like 3 weeks ago lol. Whole reason was to cruise with my kids and now they are not as interested but I'm loving it. I just wanna say I really appreciate your videos and I learned a lot from you. Keep crushing it and motivating 🙌🏽

    I think one of the coolest things you guys do in terms of video production is that even the "fluff" intro with the really cool artsy shots is still informational. If someone comes in and doesn't know what the video's title means, those first few seconds of clips show you A: what kind of riding this is for and B: what the product looks like. Really cool way to keep the entire video focused while still showing off your amazing filming and editing skills.

    I don’t listen to UA-cam, not for entertainment at least, I only look for a video when I need to know something, and it’s usually not often, once every month, sometimes once a week, but when I came across your videos It surprised me how comfortable you are talking to and trying to connect to your subscribers. Your content is super useful, for a large variety of people even if they aren’t watching all of your videos. You’re a great guy @Shred Shack. Thanks for the support to the community

  • @nat-lj8kt
    @nat-lj8kt 3 роки тому +2

    You should have mentioned the rail adapter. That's where the real game changer lies I think with Waterborne. Besides that, with a urethane system, rather than a spring, there will be much less pull/rebound which means you can stay in the turn longer. The rail adapter also helps with wheel lift in the deep turns and the board will tilt sideways a lot more than other surfskate solutions.
    Since it tilts so much, it will feel very unstable. On the otherhand since you need all that tilt to initiate the turn, it feels like a low degree front truck where if you keep control of your front foot you will be stable for the most part. Surely a unique feeling and one which I enjoy.

    Putting one of these on a mini cruiser was so much fun that when mine got stolen I immediately replaced it with the same exact setup. When my friends get on it they think it's sketchy as hell and almost immediately step off but there's just a learning curve as well as a mental hurdle to get over before you get used to it.

    I love my waterborne. I pretty much did what you suggested. I bought it (and the rear adapter too, makes a huge difference!) and tossed it on my popsicle deck. Loved the ride so much I built around it, going old school Peralta deck 10" wide, 31" long and 17" wheel base provides a great surf feel. While I would love a smoothstar, surf adapter and rail adapter can be bought for the shipping charges on a smoothstar. Heck, my deck and a pair of Indies cost only a little more than shipping on smoothstar.

    On point analysis. Just buy a 2nd hand Cruiser and mount the waterboard. Make sure the wheelbase is at least around 17" and you're good to go for a small price. For beginners sticky wheels 78a are strongly recommended, it is snappy :-) Genious engineering w/o Spring Issues. Bravo #Waterborne !

    I highly recommend the rail adapter with a wb setup. I tried riptide krank fatcones instead of their stock standard bushings and it blew me away. It sounds like other riders on the surf skate subreddit are happy with that setup, too.
    I run green fatcones board side, regular cones street side. Wide side of the cones facing the board.

    I only ride e-skate and only for transport -- I use the eskate to get around to avoid driving and all the parking and ticket issues attached to it in a busy (pre-COVID) city like San Francisco. This waterborne adapter IS A MUST. The reasons are: 1.) being able to execute deeper turns and carving while maintaining current fast speed (like a bike) 2.) NO SPEED BUMPS.

    This is my all time favorite surprise purchases. All I wanted was a setup that would allow me to chase my three year old on her push bike while pushing my one year old son around in his little car. It’s how I play with my kids when the pool get too cold. Fast forward three months later and the three of us are hitting the skatepark early morning before the “big kids” (or any kids) show up. If you surf, like I do, you absolutely need one of these and if you skate, find a driveway or a bridge!! and do some power slides but keep your real setup handy. This is my third skateboard in my skate quiver. If you’re on the fence, it’s a no brainer, get it but here’s a tip, get a cruiser board with a loooong wheelbase. 16” plus. Customer service is the best too!

    Speed wobbles happen on the rear truck (I mean in general). With the rail adapter the rear truck doesn’t really turn anymore, so I can see how this setup can in theory reduce risk of wobbles at high speeds. But uhhh I’ll let others test out the theory. I mean downhill skaters use lower angle rear trucks and 0° isn’t unheard of so... 🤷‍♂️

    Hey big fan of the channel, I'm interested on how to pump on surf skates and if you can do it with a regular cruiser

    • @concrete-waves
      @concrete-waves  3 роки тому

      Thanks Marty! Pumping on a regular cruiser is hard to do without a surfskate adapter... if that's your question?

    Ya, great customer support! I was charged some insane brokerage fee while shipping to Canada, reached out to ask how they can help and they refunded me the whole amount in minutes. This adapter is pretty dope too :]

    Is it possible to install these on a drop thru truck longboard?

    • @WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS
      @WATERBORNESKATEBOARDS 3 роки тому +1

      yes, but you'll be mounting the Adapters to the underside fo the deck. Just something to keep in mind. Also, we have a drop through install video on our site.

    Regarding board compatibility, Penny states on their website that the Waterborne Adapter will fit their 27, 29, and 32 inch boards. I've read one review where someone said that it didn't fit the 22 inch Penny.

    Just add to this an electric skateboard kit, sparking trucks, suspension and shark wheels. Then you'd probably have the craziest skateboard ever.
    Some slip tape on the bottom of the deck may also help.

    Would have been cool to see how the ride compares to other surf skate setups. I have two Waterborne kits on two different boards at the moment and love them, but I'm really curious about how these compare to a complete Smoothstar or a Surf Tech.

    I’ve been debating on getting one for my backfire board for a while now and still not sure if it is worth it. It will make the deck really really high up but also will help with tight turns as lower speeds. :/ I wish this included a test on an esk8 board but maybe that’s for another video or a different youtuber that focuses more on that side of the community. Great video overall and I would definitely get one if I had a secondary non esk8 longboard where I didn’t have to take it on and off frequently.

      I have a Riptide e board and I’ve had them for over a year and they are amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. Also when it’s higher off the ground it protects the battery case for when you go over bumps, off curbs, (idk if you have the backfire mini) and just overall protection. You feel like your surfing as well because the front trucks are what lead the rest of the board so it can do super tight turns. I have a short board with a kick tail but it would be super nice on a long board as well because once you get used to it, I at least have noticed that I get more control of my board. If you have the backfire mini(or just any backfire board), can you tell me how it feels because I’ve been wanting to upgrade, and I’m wondering how the carbon fiber feels overall, and how overall durable you would say the board is.

      I'm not really into freestyle longboarding, so I won't be doing that video right now. Maybe in the future. It depends on your budget too. How much are you trying to spend?

    So, “any board?” I’ve got an old 31.5” x 9.5” Santa Cruz that is my go to. I only ride streets with no tricks (other than jumping curbs), but you’ve got me interested in these adapters for the cold months (I slalom ski all summer). Is this really doable?

    • @concrete-waves
      @concrete-waves  3 роки тому

      You should be good! That deck sounds solid for a surfskate setup - but I would double check your trucks will fit (most do). Contact waterborne and see before buying
