  • The good, the bad, and the confusing.
    The X26 from Engwe is a blast to ride, but after two months of testing I still have so many questions about it.
    I'm not sure how much testing went into this bike (if any).

    I am getting an X26. Can you post a link to the replacement handlebars? Or do you know the size so I can find a set ahead of time?

      @@LAHover Thank you. I will probably ride the bike for a little while and then make a final decision what to order. I already have a couple other bikes so the X26 is not going to be my primary ride. Unless of course I suddenly get a foot taller.

      I wonder how the bike would handle/ride if you just rotated the stem 180 degrees?

      Good review just subd 👍
      Yes it's a Comfortable ride I've put 2000 + Kms on my X26 in 6 weeks
      But I prefer long distance pedaling from the rear seat - beach cruiser style , works ok with a aftermarket handlebar 130mm extension to give laid back riding position.
      Cruise is initiated holding up button for 3 seconds - cruise icon is displayed when activated...
      X26 Problems in 6 weeks hard riding =
      1. cross bar battery rattle if not stopped leads to battery self-destructing - the terminals disintegrate. fix = wrap 50mm gorilla tape around front of battery to eliminate rattle. order new terminal block from Engwe!!
      2. Seat post Battery drops when riding over rough terrain = leading to connection bottoming out on frame and battery connector self destructing because it passes the minimum height setting😬
      fix= order new battery connector from Engwe
      prevent battery bottoming by putting a stop bolt underneath the battery just above it minimum height setting 🤦
      3.standard tyres inner tubes are very prone to punctures had , 4 punctures in 2 weeks 😬
      fix = installed heavy duty 6mm thick motorcycle inner tubes 🤞

    Cruise control is initiated holding up button 3 seconds, cruise icon illuminates in display when activated ( holding throttle another 3 seconds at required speed sets cruise even in pedal assistance normal mode !!)

    ECO Mode question: I believe the ECO mode is designed primarily as Pedal Assist (PA). This would be the mode where you do pedal, but can choose up to 5 different levels of assist. Let's riders play a role in bicycle motion versus full throttle mode where no pedaling is necessary (i.e. Sport and Normal mode).
    Sorry if someone else put this in a comment, I tried to skim to see if anyone addressed this and I did not see it mentioned.
    Hope it helps and is productive comment :)

    The best review so far, and I've seen alot. Thanks for the handlebar tip I will definately consider that one. I am only 6' tall so perhaps I will go for the X24 and not the X26.

    The centre post that extends below the bottom bracket, and reduces ground clearance is a stand whilst folded and protects the crank from banging against the floor...
    Can see it hindering more than helping since you pointed it out tho

    Wondering if you still have a discord going and I have watched so many of your vids and others as well but I’m having trouble with my yd100 not starting and when I get it to run after warmup if I turn it off it T won’t start back up. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you for all your help in so many vids you’ve made.

    I recently ordered the Engwe X24 but haven’t received it yet. It will be my first e-bike so I hope I haven’t screwed up.
    My question is this,,, Is the controller updatable and is that a common thing in the e-bike world? I’ve seen several reviews of this bike and you aren’t the first to point out the confusing areas of the modes. Is it possible that Engwe may correct these issues in a software update down the road?

    Definitely add that rubber grommet! If I was a betting man, in a few years when the batteries are at the end of their charge cycles.. you can put several thousand watt hours of a lithium battery setup under the main frame bar, and another battery where the passenger seat was. Then this bike will go quite the record distance with the top speed available as well.

    Thank you for the video! So I'm building a Zeda 80. I was putting the chain on and took the cover off the small sprocket on the engine. There's a pin in the center of the sprocket that comes out. Well it fell out and I believe a small ball bearing came out from under it. Am I tripping ? Was it a ball bearing, how important is it (probably extremely) and where can I get a new one?? I found the pin just not sure about what was under it lol.. any help much appreciated

    Random Thoughts: The rear alloy wheel might act as a heat sink/heat dissipation for the rear motor.
    If statoraide aka ferro fluid really works. The motor would love to have some added.
    Sport mode is probably limited to short bursts to prevent over heating issues.
    Looks like a good bike for a bike packing adventure. With a front & rear rack you could hual plenty of gear.
    Needs some tire liners to stop flats.
    It has plenty of suspension so hopefully the rims wheels will allow you to run a less fat tire for a little more range.
    If you mounted a small 800w generator to the rear seat. You'd have a hybrid bike lol

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  10 місяців тому +1

      Good point about the wheel acting as a heat sink.
      How much it might help, who knows... But it certainly can't hurt.
      Cheers.

    • @michaelbrinks8089
      @michaelbrinks8089 10 місяців тому

      @@LAHover I seen people adding aftermarket heat sinks to cheap 1500w ebay hub motors & ferro fluid inside to help keep them cool. Then modding the controller box, bigger battery doubling voltage, turing a 1500w into a 3000w motor almost doubling power & top speed, without it overheating. (Seems too good to be true)
      Seems like a mag wheel that could double as a heat dissipatior would be a great idea for a high power ebike hub motor.
      If the heat gets transferred/radiated out to the mag spokes. That act as the cooling fins, so the wheel spinning in the wind sheds heat away.

      You may need to bleed them.
      Air in the line and/or low fluid level can cause them to get soft/spongy.
      This is especially noticeable when the bike sits for a day, going away when you start using them, but after a while they will stop working completely.

    I think I've only seen videos of short people recording with this bike, but after seeing yours, I realized that it is very small. I'm 1.92m tall, definitely not for me, right?!

    • @LAHover
      @LAHover  2 місяці тому

      As a tall rider, I found this bike to be unusually large, even for my height. Additionally, the stock handlebars (which I replaced, but didn't feature in the video) forced me into a stretched-out and uncomfortable riding position. If you're drawn to this bike style, I suggest considering their smaller X24 and X20 models. They offer similar performance, range, and features, but are much more manageable in size.
      On a related note, I strongly recommend exploring some of the two-wheel drive options available in the market. Many of them fall within the same price range but deliver significantly improved performance and practicality.
