This is a Macrocybe titans. They make chunky steaks when fried in oil that will literally taste like a burger if compressed in prep. Great find! I'm jealous.
@@SherrisPlants You could also break it up and add to plants dirt for fertilizer or give it to the chickens for a nutritious snack! They help plants grow significantly
That is actually a good idea. I have feed the chickens with it but never thought about scattering it through the soil. I wonder if that would spread its spores. I have had oyster mushrooms that I have tried feeding the chickens but it was rubbbery and I had to break them up and they were not excited about it.@@shiannewiles
@@SherrisPlants It does spread the spores if you take some of the soil with it to spread. The main spores are in bedded in the ground. When I order my mycelium blocks it is just a block of dirt with mycelium in it. I make sure to spread it in every bed and got so many mushrooms from it and very healthy plants.
I know that myco are a buzz word lately but very expensive to try in a large scale. Maybe that is what I will do with mushrooms when I see them for now on -scatter them about. At certain times of year we get marsh mellow looking ones all through the soil that look pretty neat. We also get the weird ones that are called dog vomit@@shiannewiles
