Thanks for showing us the contour tool. I have yet to try it. To speed things up and for precision, I’d recommend starting with a pentagon shape and snapping all the circle centres to the points of the pentagon.
Wow a very creative and inventive use of a contour. I hope you plan to do more affinity designer videos. I will have watch this again with designer open. Thank you.

Hi thanks for your videos. I am new to AD and they are helping me a lot. What I was hoping this feature would do, which I don't think it does, is give me a separate contour layer I want to do something that has an edge that looks like shapes are cut out of it. So say there is a rectangle and on the right edge I want it to look like there are shapes cut out of the rectangle (I can use subtract for this). And I want some free floating shapes further to the right. But I want the edge of the rectangle to be contored to the shape of the free floating shapes ... as if just previously they had been attached but they broke free. You could see that they used to be attached because the contour of the rectangle edge matches the contour of the floating shapes. That may not make sense ... having trouble describing what I am trying to do 🥴 But I was thinking if contour gave me a contor layer I could make a contour layer from the floating shapes and use that as the right edge of the rectangle. I am making it more confusing, aren't I? 🥴
Olivia, thank you so much for reaching out, much appreciated! I am trying to picture it but it's hard to get the whole point. Would you be open to email me a drawing to assess it? 😀👋
@@EliasSarantopoulos You are so nice to be willing to help me with this. I am certain this is much easier than I am making it. I sent you an email to the address on your About page. I found a picture of something similar to what I have in mind.
@@EliasSarantopoulos That is weird. I sent it to the email in the Contact page on YT. As I was writing that email I had an idea about how to do what I wanted. I havent had a chance to try it, but I think it "should" work. Ideally, I'd like to figure it out myself, because that is how we really learn, right? So maybe the email will show up some day in your spam folder or something. But in the mean time I'll drop my question and try my idea. But that said, your AD videos have helped me a lot.
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm just getting started with Affinity and you just taught me something I didn't know. Thanks much! I love the 15 colors in your Infographics palette. Do you by any chance sell any products that include those colors, or would you be willing to share the HEX codes?
Brian, great to hear that and thank you for your feedback! I can definitely share the colors, just email me if you wish. My credentials are at the end of each movie tutorial. 😀 👋

An interesting idea Chris, need to try that one, thank you for sharing! 😀👋

How to bake the contour ?
Once the Contour is active, below the contextual menu, the Bake Appearance option is available. 😀👋
ua-cam.com/video/XXv-RtGiCJ8/v-deo.html ....Can we do this in Affinity ?
No, not yet, I was hoping with the new version it would be possible. Maybe in the near future. 😊
