Cregan didn't forget starks duty to protect the wall from white walkers. While Ned did
Cregan Stark gets 4 1/2 minutes of air time and stole the whole episode.
He is just so handsome. I couldn't stop looking at him his whole scene
True lol 😂
The Starks are just soo Handsome. I could see Ned Stark in him the long hair and the grace of honor
At this point, any Stark with calm and stoic manners will steal the episode.

Oh my God 😭😭😭😭
Epic line about how the dragons wouldn’t cross the wall…
And Season 7 kind of forgot about it
@@luigicavallo270Also they forgot about this whole period of history when they made Cersei Queen.
@@luigicavallo270 😭😭
Totally missed that. I always have to rewatch an episode twice because I feel like I miss so much when I watch it the first time
This one is ambiguous. Dany dragons ARE special, born under special circumstance by blood magic and they crossed after the Night King grabbed Bran. Could be a mistake, or just the magical touch that Dany and her dragons have.
Apparently they went with the "they are special" route. I won't complain about this one, my boys are definitely special.
Cregan Stark, while stoic, has an underlying warmth and friendliness to Jaecerys. He's a good man.
They became real close in the books
@@natemyers4946 Cregan saw Jace as a younger brother if I remember correctly
They were like brothers in the books they had a similar relationship like ned and Robert
@@user-hy8sf2bq2w The book says Cregan was very fond of Jace because he reminded him of his younger brother who had passed away before the Dance started.
After what happened, or what didn’t happen with blood and cheese, it’s clear we can’t go by what happened “in the books”. They might make them best friends or they might make them lovers, who knows at this point.
3:47 "Do you think my ancestors built a 700-foot wall of ice to keep out snow and savages?" "What does it keep out?" "Death" The fact that Cregan Stark knew of this threat 200 years earlier, shows how committed the Night King and White Walkers!
And then the genius Dan and Dave made white walkers such a joke , years of buildup with no payoff !!!
But why did Ned Stark act like he did not care or know about the white walkers and night king?
@@mathtrix14 I think because he believed that they were gone.Lost in myth and memory.
@@mj7814I think that was the white walkers’ strategy. Wait until they faded to myth and memory and then return to invade. It’s like the Sith in the prequels.
@mathtrix14 good question, there can be two answers, one cregan didnt know as its not explicitly stated in books, this scene was included by showrunners as a fan service to game of thrones series, second answer is that he did know about the threat not to the full extent, may be north and starks are not fully sure about the truth of white walkers but unlike rest of the westeros they didnt laugh it off as children tale and night's watch is glorified penal colony or even worse some southern lords think its a lie made up by starks. Anyway ned also respected night's watch like cregan and still hold up the tradition of one stark family memeber joins night's watch. I think at the start of first book benjen watns to talk tonned about disturbing reports north of wall but that discussion hold indefinitely when ned decided to accept robert's offer. Ibelieve ned and cregan has same knowledge about the threat north of the wall not knowledge more like foreboding that wall was not built just to keep our wildings. And they both want to prioritize their duty to north over Southern politics but in ned case it was catlyn who forced him to go and in cregan case well this falls in catagory of spoilers for show viewers, suffice to say cregan will come south.
Thirteen years after GoT Season 1, and all the men in House Stark still sound like they’re from Yorkshire because Sean Bean couldn’t do any other kind of English accent 😂
😂😂😂
Wouldn’t do any other accent…
Ya Yorkshire Bastard 😂
Considering house stark is based loosely based off the house of york it's fitting
Well Yorkshire was once the heart of the North, it fits them.
I love how Jace's voice just drops away, when he sees the vastness of the area beyond the Wall...
Yeah, i love that detail.
Honestly we really do not know how many Targs before want to see what is beyond the Wall.
It was already expected that he'd have the same accent. But damn, the voice itself is also reminiscent of Jon and Rob's.
Good job casting him!
Really great to see what The Wall was like fully maintained, the Starks of this era made sure it was that way. Great opening scene.
It’s also crazy how he mentions serving the wall was an honor, not a sentence. Makes you wonder when it started becoming a sentence rather than an honorable duty.
@@troyb4533 I think Cregan means in reference to a Stark going there. I assume they would have a leadership role, Benjen was First Ranger.

Everyone in my house was in tears to hear the intro music, seeing winterfell and then Lord Cregan. Amazing
He reminded me of a young Ned soooo much!
Love Cregans smirk about the grey beards fighting hard. The “winter wolves” are epic in the book.
It felt so good to be back home at Winterfell. The opening scene was just emotional, soo nostalgic and it was so wonderful to see Lord Cregan carrying the Stark ancestry sword Ice.. Cregan stark casting and acting is top notch. Also gotta love Jace and Cregan's dialogue, you can almost feel how they click.. almost like they are bros. The beautiful music and scene gives me so much chills.. truly memorable.
The young actor portraying Cregan Stark did a phenomenal job here! His Yorkshire accent is 10/10. 🐺 ⚔ ❄
When that violin plays, I get on my knees and swear allegiance to House Stark
Insane how this man will wreak havoc and bring order to King's Landing in the future
I love the line about how King Jaehaerys went to the Wall and saw his dragons refuse to fly over it. As a Targaryen king, he would have known about Aegon’s prophecy but maybe he had doubts as to its validity. But actually going to the Wall and seeing how his dragons reacted to it must have had him thinking “okay, yeah, there really is something bad out there.”
It was king jaehaerys. It was queen allisant and silver wing who refused to cross it.. she tried 3 times and each time silver wing turned back

Oh shittt, how bout that. I thought I recognized him from something but absolutely couldn't place it. Last Kingdom was a damn solid show.
Funny when i heard of Cregan for the first time (before i knew his age) i thought Alexander Dreymon (adult uhtred) may be a good fit.

He did not play Uhtred in the Last Kingdom. Alexander Dreymond plays him. Ewan Mitchell who plays Aemon is in the Last Kingdom.
@@tanyasoto1346 He did play Uhtred as a child in the first episode.
Seeing Winterfell and hearing the Stark theme again feels like coming home. The Targaryens really took the Starks and the North for granted throughout their reign, I feel.
They did. The Starks was super loyal to the Targs, never rebelling and always uniting the North. They bent the knee to them, helped Jaehaerys and respected Viserys wish. They took multiple armies south during the Dance, the Dornish wars, and Blackfyre Rebellions.
And what did it get them? Pretty much nothing. They were scorned and forgotten. There's a reason why the Starks liked Robert, he's the first and only king that respected the North. Targs deserved the fate They got

Cregan being the one to deliver the news to Jace would have to be soul crushing. They were best bros. I liked how they open the season with a raven flying into Winterfell then end the scene on The Wall with news from a raven that Luc had been killed. Good writing 😭😖
Cregan Stark gives me Arthas vibes transitioning to Lich King.
Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne
Starks are probably the most opposed House to the philosophy of Ends justifying the means, that philosophy drives Arthas and brings his very doom, in the end.
Cregan is a key player in putting Rhaenyra's son on the throne.
Just seeing the trees cut further back completes the lore
What's funny is most of the lore that comes out of their mouths is wrong.
My mans played baby Uhtred and Cregan Stark... Legend
Aegon after Torrhen bent the knee...
"Aye bro....I believe you about the ice zombies. I seen your UA-cam videos."
Jacerys actor is growing into his looks. He's got Richard Madden suaveness.
It felt good to see Winterfell again since the last episode of Game of Thrones. And the music by Ramin Djawadi gave me goosebumps. ❤
I loved the hint of the White Walker theme that was included-very spooky! 🥶❄️
Seeing Winterfell made me feel like seeing my hometown after being abroad for many many years. THE NORTH REMEMBERS!
Ughhhh the music, the accent, the vibe, this was amazing
It feels like to be finally back home, it's very nostalgic and I am grateful for this masterpiece. It's amazing that the season starts with the memory of Starks.
I want to see more from Cregan
Hopefully we get The Hour of the Wolf, it was an epic chapter in Fire & Blood
This arc with Jace was much longer in the book.
@@Dani_1012 Ryan Condal's statements make me a little concerned.
@@Dani_1012 Yeah but it will be probably in season 3
This whole opening could be a short film about the Starks and the North in itself
It was in the book. But Condal cut all of it.
It’s possible the show tells the story that the Starks knew the WW were coming, and the knowledge was passed down from Lord to heir. Ned wouldn’t know, as Brandon and his dad died together.
That's sounds plausible.
Plus Ned wasn't a competent lord. He wasn't corrupt but he had a history of making poor decisions. Ned puts honor before reason.
@@rainstriderstreamflower5645 Ned was an excellent ruler in the North, he's just out of his depth as Hand of the King as an honorable man in King's Landing.
"Do you think my ancestors built a 700ft wall of ice to keep out snow and savages?"
FINALLY someone says this BASIC deduction out loud!
So Ned's ancestors knew that the White Walkers were alive and active.
@rainstriderstreamflower5645 I thought that they thought the White Walkers were just a myth at that point? Because according to legend, they hadnt been seen in over 8 thousand years. And when the third horn blew, Sam and the others couldn't remember at first what that meant because the horn never blew three times before.
@@TimberlakeTigerGirl Possibly that knowledge is lost during the civil war. Remember that the Targ kings passing this knowledge and was lost.
Stark theme music gives me chills everytime
“They’ll fight hard. Like Northerners” Lord Cregan’s last line hit the hardest for me. I think the 1k graybeards Cregan will send will have a huge impact later this season at a dire(wolf) time when they’re needed most during this war!!
Not at the pace this show is moving. Walking Dead was more exciting
Man… i wanted to see more of Cregan, and his relationship with Jace….
Seeing the Winter Wolves in action is going to be badass!
The starks are the only family that it’s not fucked up
🤨
Lmaooo what?????? Literally just about every house have done fucked up shit throughout their family’s existence. Including the Starks lol.
That's because we haven't got our House Stark version of Fire & Blood yet.
Tyrells?
@@dillonmartin7411 All of Cregan's children were seriously messed up.
Hearing the Northern music gives me goosebumps 🥹
Here in this time, the Night's Watch is still strong and well manned. The Starks take their duty to maintain the Wall very seriously and even seem to be well aware of the reason for its existence. It makes me wonder what exactly happened in the next 200 years for this all to completely fall apart.
I think Aegon the conqueror told Torren Stark about his dream of the white walker invasion which convinced him the legends of his families ancient past was true and the Nights Watch was there for an important reason. With the civil war the custom of passing down the conquerors dream to the heir of the Iron Throne was stopped and over time forgotten about and made the white Walkers fade back into bed time stories
Uncle Benjen drew the black stone...
Nah the Starks forgot this custom. Benjen chose to take the Black.
@@markbrown8533 I don't think they forgot about it, more that the Stark household shrunk in size so there was little need to keep it going. Imagine the lord only has the one son and a bunch of daughters, or that there are few cousins that could inherit the lordship of Winterfell should some tragedy befall the family. At the beginning of GoT, the only Starks in the main branch are Ned and his family and Benjen. Should Brandon have survived and had sons, and Ned and Benjen done the same, then I believe the tradition would have returned considering there's a high likelihood of all three brothers having enough sons between them that they could have brought it back.
The hour of the Wolf is gonna be 🔥
Dark wings, dark words... I just love that we get to see Winterfell again. It feels like coming home to hear that theme and see the wall again.
I had actually goosebumps and shivers when this played.
Remember when game of thrones was special..? Remember what GoT was before season 8?
Season 7 was terrible as well
this was right before he learned of his baby brother's death. i thought i recovered from his death, but boy i was wrong. seeing cregan receiving the letter was all i needed to get emotional all over again. jace learning of luke's death... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It’s amazing how different the energy is of this series now that George R.R Martin has full creative control of the fictional universe he created.
"What does it keep out?"
"Death"
"Ok pretty cool line and all but that doesn't really tell me anything. Is it wights? If it's wights you can just say wights, dude."
Amazing scene. The warden is perfect
Love the use of the lot system to ensure the Knight's Watch is properly manned. Would be interesting to see if a later spin off covers the reasoning behing ending the practice.
Possibly because of too many losses among the population; the Dance is followed by a harsh fibe-year winter which brought mass starvation.
The south send their scum and unwanted to the Wall, of course, but when they're still recovering and when the holds and villages of the North have no men to spare, the Watch goes without.
Absolutely gorgeous opening
This entrance is so masterpiece 😌
Stark theme is so bitter sweet. Just like their story in GOT.
yeah the episode opening with this song had me literally SHAKING
When the Stark theme syarted playng, I had tears in my eyes for nostalgy
They need to touch on how these guys are like best bros.
Just a side note, I think that at this point Jacaerys as crown prince is refer now as Jacaerys Targaryen not Velaryon, at least that was the point made by the show.
Thank you for your comments. I will definitely fix it)
@@kingdomreyy According to what Viserys said when he made the marriage pact with Corlys about Rhaenyra and Laenor, the sons of their union will bear the name Velaryon until such time as they ascend the Iron Throne. Which would mean he remains Velaryon until such time as Rhaenyra dies and he becomes King.
Stop 😂
Cregan stark = dragons can't cross the wall
Got s7 = viserion crosses the wall
Night king = so you have chosen death
This may be a ret-con give D&D crappy writing!
@@rainstriderstreamflower5645It is no retcon, that Jaeherys’ dragons refused to cross the Wall has been a known fact in the lore of ASOIAF for a long time. Dany will have to do it eventually in the books as well since they’ll need to go to the further north to slay the Great Other, I think it’s simply a case of Jaeherys not being the Prince Who Was Promised.
Where is the actual pact of ice and fire? Sara Snow? Anything that could have made these scenes better? Jace and Cregan had a developed relationship from this trip and they just rushed through it.
Am I the only one who thinks Jacaerys got beautiful???
