    Thank you..
    I just finished my install
    Koni yellows with eibach sport springs front and rear.. I used your and z4forme videos as guide's. The springs took a while because they were short...

    Thanks for such a clear and concise video! Did you purchase your new struts preassembled, or did you assemble them off camera before putting them in the car?

      Hello. I purchased mine locally that I found on marketplace. The seller installed low profile sets.
      If you decide to purchase new ones, I would advise to just let a shop transfer the springs to the new shocks. As my mentor mechanic told me, it is not worth losing a thumb or finger for $25 savings. Let the shop do the spring switch, and do the strut installation yourself. You are still saving anyway. Just some sound advise I pass on to you. Thanks for asking and watching! Hope it helps! - Rjeff H2H

      Thanks so much! That’s a good point of view. Would you be willing to share where you source your shop manual from?

    you don't need that hole -- all it does is limit camber ... it's a common adjustment to remove it to gain front camber. Lots of unnecessary work for limited/zero value. Reinforcement plates are a MUST - thank you for calling this out :)

    • @f1fork
      @f1fork Рік тому

      You've gained some camber adjustment, but would have much more without that stud you drilled the plate for ....

      @@f1fork Hello. My main goal is to have viewers be aware to reinforce their mounting points to save their z4s from impending disaster. To make it simple, I drilled the hole to accommodate the top strut's requirements. I don't want to complicate things for the viewers, so a simple hole is suffice for now. I need to get my top working I switched the motor but I don't believe I have power to the rear motor. BTW the one I replaced was in good condition..

      Hello. Two things. You need the parcel shelf installed and on the lowered position to activate the motor. There is a switch on the center hook for the shelf that tells the convertible system that it is cleared for retracting. Next thing to check is the fuse. Maybe it is just busted. Please check those and let us know if it solves the problem. Hoping for the best! -Rjeff H2H

      @@How2Helen thank you for taking the time to reply. I will check tomorrow.. I've just finished screwing my parcel shelf back in place.. 🙂.. BTW where's the fuse?. In able to lower and raise the top manually by the lock motor but the back seems to not work even though it's replaced and works when you put external power to it. Is the parcel shelf metal clip switch supposed to move completely up and down with the shel or is it supposed to just click when the parcel shelf is in the down position?

    • @How2Helen
      @How2Helen  Рік тому

      @@terrencelawrence5007 I believe there are two fuses you need to check behind/under the passenger glove compartment. The parcel shelf switch should be set on the “down” position to signify that there roof has the space it needs to retract.

    Hi how long did it take to do the Job .

    • @How2Helen
      @How2Helen  Рік тому

      Hello. Including the drilling of the reinforcement plate, it was around 2 hours to do the whole job. What took long is the bolts were actually rusty so I had to soak them with penetrating oil first. I didn’t want to break any bolts so I took my time. If not for the stuck bolts, this would average and hour job only. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching! -Rjeff H2H

      would have taken way less without drilling for unnecessary camber limiting "factory" stud/bolt. that exercise seemed to take more than 50% of the effort and is entirely unnecessary ...

      It took me about 4 hour's as I needed to use 2 different spring compressor because the sport springs are so short. They almost had to be completely compressed to get on the new strut.. it's worth the effort.. the rears were much more forgiving

    • @How2Helen
      @How2Helen  Рік тому

      @@terrencelawrence5007 ok. Just be careful using spring compressors. I personally am afraid to use them. Even my mechanic would rather let a shop do the spring replacement on a struts, using a machine, as he saw first hand someone cut their finger off when the compressor slipped. So please be extra careful with manual spring compressor. I am just concerned for your well being. - Rjeff H2H
