My mind melted when Comisar announced he was unloading his collection. I thought he'd never get rid of it. I hope these pieces find good homes. Really hope the Carson, Cheers, and All In The Family sets end up in museums.
Glad you explained about the desk. I'd just assumed they kept the late 80's desk until 93. I know the new window debuted in Jan '90, then the new riser and chairs, screen doors and bandstand close to summer of that year. I also remember the skyline had remote control toys like cars, an Exxon oil tanker, a construction elevator and maybe little window washers...and the crane moved. A man named John Magoun made these I believe while Kathleen was busy with the day to day of the show.
@@latenightplayset Yes, I discovered that name when I found Magoun's pics of the set. Yes, the train was part of the CBS set your desk belonged to. I've contacted the museum twice to see if they still have the train, as it was on display in the permanent collection for years. No reply.
Supposedly they have the train, the Brooklyn bridge and the Empire State Building (all from CBS gen 1). PS, my desk still has the switch for train. Says “run” & “stop” ;)

I’m not the physical archivist for nothin’… but you’re probably the only other person who cares 😂
Don’t forget Ziska Childes. Your memory is correct, the auction listing for elevated train is inaccurate, it’s the west side highway (cars) 😉

@@latenightplayset I remember that switch from when I sat at the desk during the 1997 exhibit. WHY didn't I bring a camera?!! (No smartphones)
