Watching this it's mad to think that Stewart Lee has now proven himself to be an absolute comedy genius and the British Bill Hicks. He's brought Godzilla into his stand up shows a few times.
Stewart Lee is a bit down on himself about his charitable contributions but he needs to realise that he had brought hope to thousands of early receders. That wispy bit at the front is still very much intact decades later.
OMFG I saw this as a child in ENGLAND :O I remember this playing with a Godzilla and King Kong Marathon with Monster Battles! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR UPLOADING THIS it is a huge blast of nostalgia
Lol, Mike Gatting was for some reasonsl the go to guy to talk about sci fi monsters in the 90s. Cricketer to monster pundit, it's a natural career progression obviously
I think the delay really adds something to the whole trick. Like when Stewart waits for his live audience to get the joke. Well done Stewart, and Richard too.
No, there were AVP short stories as far back as 1986 in Dark Horse presents and was its own series by 1990. Predator 2 also had a Xenomorph skull in the Predator's ship, which also came out in 1990 but, that puts them in the same timeline, even if it was only meant as an Easter egg.
if i had my way they'd be 'owed' for just about everything good in the universe (and it happens to be mostly true anyway) they're creative as heck. could it be my bias, or is carol vorderman criminally lovely? my oh my (leave it to someone from the u.s. to point out something everyone's known for years) she's so wonderful; and she keeps getting better; i could forgive anything (those ads) she could possible do.
Pre cgi days kids so the monster look a little unlikely I know but they still managed to make stew and rich look quite real.Thinks they used puppets on this occasion.
This reminds me of how Edgar Wright shot the opening to Shaun of The Dead. He was already doing tele at this point (Asylum etc) Anyone think he would have known these guys?
I don't think he knew them, he was on RHLSTP a while back and I don't think they'd properly known each other before, he would have seen their stuff though.
The 10th scariest monster would have been the BUSINESSMAN! In his suit and tie!
The true sick man in this society.
I remember watching this on broadcast. Lee and Herring were great in the 1990s.
Watching this it's mad to think that Stewart Lee has now proven himself to be an absolute comedy genius and the British Bill Hicks. He's brought Godzilla into his stand up shows a few times.
Stewart Lee's not let himself go, yet
I like to revisit this every few years. Delightful as ever.
Stewart Lee is a bit down on himself about his charitable contributions but he needs to realise that he had brought hope to thousands of early receders. That wispy bit at the front is still very much intact decades later.
mitchell and webb have let themselves go
Young K.D. Lang has quite impressive chest hair.

"Who would win between an alien and a Predator?" thse chaps were ahead of the time.
Wow - I remember seeing this! Thought it was brilliant and wished I'd recorded it - thanks 😅
As Halloween approaches, it's time for my annual rewatch! Golden era TV for me!
Lol, Mike Gatting was for some reasonsl the go to guy to talk about sci fi monsters in the 90s. Cricketer to monster pundit, it's a natural career progression obviously
Ratko Mladic's looking well.
This video should have been presented by the world's foremost expert on scary creatures, Greg Evigan.
Think of the fees! Too much for the BBC license payer, despite the expertise.
He made this!
It's weird Stewart Lee calls them 90s comedians in the 90s
If ever there was a decade that was aware of itself and constantly reminded you of itself it as the 90's.
I was born in 1990 and that's always been my shtick
I think the delay really adds something to the whole trick. Like when Stewart waits for his live audience to get the joke. Well done Stewart, and Richard too.
God this takes me back. I remember watching 'Monster Night' back in the day.
Same. I even recorded it.
Jesus! The amount of hair gel that we used back then.
i love this please dont delete it thanks
This is a brilliant early spoof of the ubiquitous clip show full of "celeb" talking heads who know next to nothing about what they're talking about.
Number ten - the hair peeping out of stews shirt - number eleven - stews shirt!:o)
I didn't know General Ratko Mladic made TV in the late nighties?
I've never heard it called that before!
next july is the 20 the anniversary ,thanks for this
Richard Herring has really got himself together recently
saw him in welwyn village the other day with his mother in law. he was laughing.
RIP Mark Gatting's entire family, gunned down by merciless daleks 😢
I like a scary monster; but I like to keep things within reason.
I'd totally forgotten Lee and Herring's constant digs at the kid that did the video game reviews on Live and Kicking. Yet still hillarious
david the kid jensen ?

still love this
6 yrs before Alien Vs Predator was filmed..
But 8 years after the Alien skull was seen in the Predator's ship in "Predator 2"
and eight years after Dark Horse Comics Presents ran its first Aliens vs Predator storyline.
Nostradamus would've predicted it, but his horse was a bit flighty.
Thats exactly what i thought!!! :D
well done for predicting the future of television
What....no skellingtons!
But even the cyclops isn't as scary as heavy electricity, eh Jenny?
raw and superb
Beautiful. 👌
He was gorgeous wasn't he :)
+RileyKaiSeeker Which one ?
Paul L
Well, Stewart Lee obviously. The tall one who has that Leonardo Dicaprio teenaged heart-throb face.....as opposed to the short, chubby one :)
Yeah, but he's since let himself go.
Rich is well handdsome now
Mike Gatting
god i rember this i was about 10 at the time lol. king kong and godzilla afterwards good times. staying up late kicked ass lol

Shitbottle.
is this the first time Alien vs Predetor was mentioned??
No, there were AVP short stories as far back as 1986 in Dark Horse presents and was its own series by 1990. Predator 2 also had a Xenomorph skull in the Predator's ship, which also came out in 1990 but, that puts them in the same timeline, even if it was only meant as an Easter egg.
Stew before the crisps, Gary Lineker has a lot to answer for!
This where the original idea of Alien vs Predator actually came from.
if i had my way they'd be 'owed' for just about everything good in the universe (and it happens to be mostly true anyway) they're creative as heck.
could it be my bias, or is carol vorderman criminally lovely? my oh my (leave it to someone from the u.s. to point out something everyone's known for years) she's so wonderful; and she keeps getting better; i could forgive anything (those ads) she could possible do.
Someone in Hollywood was watching this and thought...hmmm, Alien vs Predator? That Richard Herring is onto something here...
Anthony Griffin just don’t tell him, he still hasn’t got over the whole Alan Partridge thing
‘Where do you find these women who want to wind you and twist you and get you Stu?’
‘Well I’ll give it to you straight…..’

WORTH WATCHING WITH SUBTITLES
Not scared ,just funny in my stomach
I love Carol Vorderman.
3:26 did they know there was going to be a movie about it about 5 years later?
please dont delete any monster night ....its great
'Men Behaving Badly' original concept RIGHT THERE
I'd love to talk classic Doctor Who with Stew
The Curious Orange beats them all hands down, despite not having any
mark fowler really let himself go
mark fowler had aids.
Fry from Futurama has let himself go...
This video is weirdly plausible.
Pre cgi days kids so the monster look a little unlikely I know but they still managed to make stew and rich look quite real.Thinks they used puppets on this occasion.
I can't believe I sat through this.
It's poor innit. Really bad.
So what were you both expecting it to be?
Why are you so interested by others expectations? I wasn't expecting such an expectant manner of others expectations in a UA-cam comments section.
"Women?! There's no such thing!" Stuck with me for 20 odd years
Three 'eye-sockets' would assume three eyes, surely?
At the risk of being pedantic, the credits at the end say 1998, not 1999 :] Thanks for the upload, that was great.
Don't understand why this wasn't recommissioned.
At 0:50 we find out where Stewart Lee's dislike of Jeremy Clarkson arose.
A zombie is the only monster that humans can become ... apart from vampires, witches, werewolves, Carol Vorderman ...
Starts with one eyed monster then works up to one eye....where does one go ftom there
And yet, they did go on to do Alien V Predator - several!
When is The 9 Scariest Monsters coming to bluray?
Poor poor Mike 😢
Didnt the video games lend a hand as well. Hell, that game was really popular
Has anyone seen Vorderman recently? Blood curdling!
This is funnier the more you get into it.
So when are Rich and Stew going to buy the rights to this? I want the DVD.
00:58 lol at the cover
Mike Gatting sounds like Alan Pilkington :)
Look at Stew there, second button undone to show of his chest rug. What a vain young man.
Is it me, or are they owed money for the idea of Alien versus Predator?
fucking brilliant
This reminds me of how Edgar Wright shot the opening to Shaun of The Dead. He was already doing tele at this point (Asylum etc) Anyone think he would have known these guys?
telly.

Alien Vs Predator!!!!!! Spooky!!
He is so Morrissey in 1992.
Nope, the vs idea came from the comic book first.
