This video was incredibly helpful since you had it all the way packed out! First time seeing your channel and I wanted to say thanks for such a thorough great review!!
Thank you so much for the kind note! Means a lot! Glad this was helpful. I will shoot another video in a few weeks (probably indoors for more consistent lighting) and to show more details and features of the pack. Take care!
Looks very similar to a Shimoda Action X. Though at a glance, the Shimoda looks better designed IMO. I can already see the over-engineering Peak Design usually does with that sternum strap. But hey, can't judge it until I can try it in person
I will have to look into the Action X. It looks like it can carry skis or (hopefully) a splitboard as well. I like that. But the design of the PD too simular in design. I will shoot another video to show the details and functionality indoors for better lighting as well. Hope that will help you and others see the bag a little better. Take care!
I used to think that owning a luxury bag was an unattainable dream, until luxrul told me that this dream is actually very close. The sense of fashion comes not only from the brand, but also from personal matching and attitude.
For an Outdoor bag, this video definitely leans more on the everyday carry side of loadout and use case. It's a shame that this doesn't video have any actual criticisms. Comes across like a paid advertisement/walkthrough.
Hmm. Well, I do use it every day. Many of those days are outside shooting videos and camping. I did offer feedback to PD on the laptop sleeve being tight for a 16” MacBook. If you had this pack and made a video, please share how you would shoot the video. I genuinely want to know. We review gear everyday and work with many of the brands you see in the outdoors. Never paid sponsorship. Just testing and showing how we use the gear.
@@Engearment First off, I want apologize for suggesting that this video was made for an advertisement. That was pretty crummy and not at all fair. I could have worded that better. What I meant was (and should have said) is that it watches more like a feature tour than an a review. There are very few videos out about the bag right now and I was hoping to get some insight into what using the bag was like, but all of of the ones I've seen are describing features without giving any opinion on them (other than heaps of praise). For an outdoor bag, I want to know how it functions as such, but this focuses more on it being an everyday bag. You stated that you had been camping with it and I'd be really interested in how it functions at that and how you would pack it out (even more curious how you would pack it out camping with a bit of camera gear). The best videos I've seen that cover backpacks are ones that give me an idea of what it's like using the bag, positive and negative. Unfortunately most of what I watch "review" bags are really just going over the features and rarely have a critical thing to say about anything. I can think of a number of things about this bag that concern me and am curious if they would be concerns for someone who's used the bag for awhile.
@@p.herron Thank you VERY much for the nice dialog. I can appreciate where you are coming from. I feel you on most videos be overviews. I am planning on shooting a second video to show other ways I have used it and hopefully give you and the viewers more insights into this bag. I have used it hiking with my dog on several occasions. I load it with two small camera cubes 1) with Sony A7RV and 28-200 lens and Rode Mics 2) DJI Magic Pro drone. Puffy, wind shirt, bag of snacks, Helinox chair, rain jacket, batteries and charger (the BioLite one in this video - that thing will charge everything I throw at it!) When in EDC mode I don't use the hip straps. They tuck away very well. That is more or less what I was showing in this video. In the second video I would be happy to show other features and more close up detail (the variable lighting in this video left me with a desire to do an indoor video for the detail) Hope that helps!
The guy is right, this is not a review but a product tour. For example, reviewing a backpack for 15 min but not mentioning the comfort? You should talk 5 minutes about comfort vs other packs, with different types of load.
@@birdymeo Hmm. I believe I mentioned how comfortable it is and even compared it to a Mystery Ranch pack (have you ever used that brand backpack, they are known for the comfort and ability to carry a heavy load with ease) I shot a second video to help answer other good questions that popped up. I will try and shoot a third video and give you a big shout out.
This one does not. However, it is also a preproduction model. I will ping PD and see if they WILL have a luggage pass-through. That would be an easy win.
I wound up repositioning them and find them much better now. I should have done that from the get-go. I will show the set up in the second video on this pack. Have you used it as well?
@@peligeustalos4141 I owned an Atlas Adventure Pack. Exceptional gear, but shoulder straps are not height adjustable so it never fit me quite right. I used it for a while and ended up selling it for a Shimoda pack …which I am also not thrilled with. Better shoulder adjustments, but I don’t like the hip belt. I might be trying this peak design backpack.
I found it odd that PD didn't want to disclose the bag's weight. I contacted the CS to ask them directly, and they replied that they don't know the weight. And in all the reviews currently on YT, no one mentions the weight, as they do on the censorship from PD.
That is some serious conspiracy level thought process. LOL. There is absolutly no censorship or control from PD. They simply sent the bag over and said have fun with it. Report back any observations you have (which I did). It really is that simple. Hope that helps. And thanks to @lyncahead for getting the specs over. THAT is what we are all about - community helping each other learn how the gear works.

Shimoda looks quite bad to be honest, don't see any similarity
First thing I thought when I saw the strap system. I have the X40 and it's crazy comfortable even at 30+lbs.

Kangaroo opening with ultra cinch seems to be an opening for rain water etc to collect. Are there drain holes?

Can the 45L bags be flattened when it is empty?
Hi ! For the sternum straps, can it be set up to be left handed (opposite way to lock it in -- left chest going to the right chest)?

@@Engearment thanks would appreciate that and although not the intended purpose of this bad it doesn’t hurt to have to make travelling easier. Thanks!
So they give you early access and you say Peak Designsssss?!
Yep. As many SSSSSs and I can fit into one word LOL. All about it :)
The stern straps are definitely not easy to use

I have not seen those yet. Will check them out.

The weight specifications are listed directly on their Kickstarter page... 1.55kg/3.97LBS for the large 45L and 1.15kg/2.54LBS for the small 25L.
