  • With my imagination in full bloom, while walking down the Duke of Gloucester Street in Colonial Williamsburg, I set out on a time-traveling journey to visit the 18th Century Raleigh Tavern. A chance for me to go back and look inside this historic Colonial Tavern where a long winding road towards Revolution slowly unfolded over an ale, cider, or whiskey, and a bold new vision for independence.
My visit to the Raleigh Tavern will take me through each room available to the public today and will allow me the opportunity to view some of the details that could be expected visiting the 18th-century version of this famous public social house still found in Colonial Williamsburg today.
From the Public Dining Room where many a traveler would stop in to refuel, to the Bar Room where secret conversations and much drink were poured…inside the Apollo Room place where Burggesses would reconvene on multiple occasions, through the Daphne, a room Washington wrote about in his journals, and into the Billiard Room for some gameplay and private discussion… My time travels to the Raleigh Tavern will walk through it all.
From east to west, north to south inside the famous building, a much-anticipated visit to the 18th century Raleigh Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg will unveil the interior and exterior layout, as well as shed light on just some of the interesting history that took place here.
Join me for A Time Traveler’s Visit To The 18th Century Raleigh Tavern in Colonial Williamsburg.

Great Great video again. I guess that clientele needed a place to meet and drink spirits and chat about current political affairs. Not unlike in today’s climate. Super informative story on the tavern. What’s next for you and Sarah? Always waiting for more reports. Thanks.

I LOVE your videos!! My husband and I are taking my oldest son to Williamsburg as part of his Senior Trip. We plan on sitting him down the night before we leave and showing him your video of the capitol to let him know where we're going on the first part of our trip.
I have a question; Can you do Williamsburg in one day? And can you do Jamestown and Yorktown all in the same day? We plan on going to D.C. the last half of his trip. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Thank you!! I would try to take at least a 2 or more days in CW and a day for both Jamestown / Yorktown….Just so you can really take it all in and not rush yourself but either way should be a fantastic experience. Really just depends on all you have planned to do in each area. Have a wonderful trip with your son!!🎩
