- May 28, 2023 and K-36 484 leads the 1PM departure out of Chama, New Mexico for Cumbres Pass, Colorado. The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad had a soft opening over Memorial Day and we were on hand to catch several of the activities.
It's also spring which means the sheep are grazing on the lush grass before heading to the high country for the summer. After arriving at Cumbres Pass, the train is wye'd and headed back to Chama.
I second all the great things people said about your video. Exceptional in every area! Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. ❤️

Awesome I really liked the beginning of the video in the yard.
Awesome, that was so great to watch. Well done and big like.
Thank you, Dom!
This is one of the most beautiful and heartwarming videos I have ever seen of the C&TS. The production value of this is absolutely incredible. Bravo!!!
Thank you very much!
Nicely done, Tom!
Thanks Mark!
Awesome, cool to see areas that are not normally seen from the ground. Well done, especially the dub on the drone stuff.
Thanks, Bob! The drone gives a lot of different views. Thank you for the comment about editing the audio on the drone videos; it's a real time consuming effort.
Hello Thomas, a fantastic video from the Cumbres & Toltec narrow gauge railway. The beginning in black and white is well done, the video in color is of course very nice. Very nice the train as it drives through the great landscape. Great footage, thanks for showing and have a nice weekend. Best regards, Wolfgang
Thank you, Wolfgang! It is a beautiful area!
I got to ride behind this engine during my visit to C&T last summer. I also rode behind 489 but I mainly enjoyed riding behind 484 as not only is she the second coal burning steam engine I’ve seen in action but the first coal fired steam engine I’ve ridden behind as every steam engine I’ve ridden behind is oil fired. Well 4960 doesn’t count as she’s powered by recycled waste vegetable oil, but yeah it was my favorite part of my visit along with seeing an engine swap at Osier and getting to go in 489’s cab and blow its whistle too.
Glad you got to do all that!
@@YardLimit mhm, will definitely go back someday and I hope when it happens 487 is running as she's my favorite on C&T's roster
