They treat these guards and horses like props in a photo booth! They are not! They are in service and working!
They are props to show how people can be made to serve those who have greater power. They are actually not able to guard effectively with just a sword as they once did so this hearkens back to a time when there were no firearms. As window dressing they create a mood which is very impressive. The lad on foot is appealingly human when he makes slight movements with his head and his mouth. I wonder what he told the mounted guard. If it was a joke it must not have been very funny.

Would I love to have a photograph with the king's guard? Yes. Would I stay a respectful distance away? Yes. Would I say thank you to the guard afterwards? Absolutely!
Edit... I'm 68 years old, so for me, it's weird to say the King's guard instead of the Queen's guard. She was Queen my whole life.
Absolutely. I'm 85 and saw the Queen when she visited friends who lived in a village near to where I lived. She was beautiful then,as she was through her long life
I remember watching the coronation of our Queen at the cinema because most people didn't have a TV then.
At 86, she was eleven years older than me. I also loved Princess Margaret. My Mother was a big Royalist and so am I.

In fact, I did not see anyone doing that in this video. The woman apologized for apparently getting too close for comfort.
I agree with you that they deserve respect but I believe it is when you include "all" that I question it. Why do they deserve "all" respect?
It appears that their "job" is purely symbolic as they are not armed in a manner that would be effective against modern fire arms therefore minimizing their ability to "guard," which is the title of their profession.
They are certainly highly respected and admired as so many seem to wish to have their photos taken with these guards, even with this fine gentleman despite the fact he is not mounted on a horse. He does seem to be in a position of authority however, as he spoke to the nearby mounted guard in a manner that appeared to command respect.

@@vernonfrance2974 You are right. Sadly having watched videos, as well as reading comments, it is evident some people think 'freedom of speech' means they can be rude. Unfortunately what they don't realise is, by being rude to other people, whether verbally or physically, they are actually showing disrespect to themselves, which elevates the people they are being rude to.

Kinda dumb to ask for personal space when your job is just to walk around a tourist attraction filled with people. Pretty rude to never speak and just touch whoever you want.
I’d love to be a fly on the wall when the guards get back into their mess hall and hear what they have to say about some of the ignorant tourists.

Those helmets are really uncomfortable but when on guard duty they are only worn for an hour. The boots are real leather and it can take a good few hours to get a good shine on them.

@@Tony-Plinkett I think a lot of the time when commenters here get all het up about “rude tourists” and “disrespect” it’s nothing of the sort. Most of the time the guards sit or stand motionless and don’t interact with the crowd at all. It’s hard not to think of them as part of the architecture. Getting too close to the guard while having a photo taken is thoughtless but it doesn’t show a lack of respect at all. When the guard nudged her a bit she was startled and then came back with an apology. No hard feelings on either side.
That's a human being standing there, with his helmet tickling his nose, trying to keep perfectly still. Just once I want to see one of these picture takers turn their phone around and show the guard the picture they got with them and THANK THEM for it, instead of treating them like furniture. It was nice to see the unthinking woman who leaned on the guard actually apologize. I think that's the first time I've seen that in any of these videos of the Guards.

I agree. After watching other people, the woman may have been unaware that she shouldn't stand too close to the guard. When she was "told" to move away, she did, she apologized sincerely.
Whoever designed the uniforms of all the regiments way back when did a fantastic job.
All the respect I humbly give to the Guards just trying to do their job and what they put up with is insane!

It’s shocking how tourists behave. They stare from very close to the guard to see if the guard is a wax statue. What are they thinking. Making pictures from very close to the guard. It’s very impolite.

There was too many tourists around that poor horse, no wonder he got a little fidgety at the end. They were in his face with their phones, and when he put his head down that was his way of telling that girl to get off and leave him alone. He didn't want to be stroked on his nose but she kept persisting. She couldn't take the hint. I would have loved him to have bit her, not hard, but enough to warn her to back off. Then that woman putting her hand on the bit by his mouth how stupid are these people. Thank goodness the guard had had enough and warned them all.
They should put some realistic looking wax figures, around the Horse Guards Courtyard, just to mess with these people...

The tourists had no respect for this guard/soldier,apart from just walking past him as if he was a statue,or standing next to him because they wanted that shot of been stood next to him,and not one of them thanked him,for the photo shot,or doing his duty! Respect to all the guards who have to perform these duties

YES HE IS VULNERABLE, BUT, ALL THREE GUARDSMEN ARE 100% TRAINED SERVICEMEN BEFORE THEY BECOME GUARDS. IF SOMEONE IS STUPID ENOUGH TO MESS WITH ANY OF THEM, TO TRY TO DO ANY HARM TO THEM, THAT PERSON OR PEOPLE WOULD SOON FIND OUT THESE GENTLEMEN HAVE THE CAPABILITIES TO END SOMEONES LIFE IF THEY THREATEN THEM, THE ROYAL FAMILIES OR ANY PALACE STAFF.
THESE GENTLEMEN ARE DOING THEIR JOBS. GUARDING THE GATES AND WATCHING THE CROWDS. THIS POSITION IS A DEPLOYMENT AND TAKES SPECIAL TRAINING OVER AND ABOVE THE TRAINING THEY GET IN THE ARMY.
THOSE TAKING PICS OF THEM RESPECTFULLY IS ONE THING. GETTING IN THEIR PERSONAL SPACE IS JUST WRONG! AND DISRESPECTFUL TO ANY MILITARY PERSONNEL.( IN ANY COUNTRY.)
If you notice there are plenty of armed police around. They are all carrying firearms. They won't hesitate to shoot to kill if any real violence was shown.

Proud of these wonderful young men serving their country. I don't think people mean to mock them at all, they just bring a smile to the face, they are quite beautiful in their uniforms not to mention the gorgeous horses. Some people are stupid though.

Never saw the lady get hit. It's amazing how these youtubers manage to keep us watching a video until the end, 🤦♀️. The soldier probably only moved his hand to let the lady know she was getting too close.

11:00 minutes of guessing which woman it would be- the stupid hat, the poser, etc. and then it was a lite touch just to let her know she was too close. And she apologized.

I can not believe how disrespectful these tourists are. The arrogant ones who walk inches away like he doesn't exist are the worst. Then there are the ones think it's funny to get as close to the Guard as possible as if he's there for their weird amusement.

Hardly hitting her! He barely bumped her to let her know that she was too close. She was at least gracious to let him know she was sorry for overstepping boundaries. TKG...please no clickbait in title captions. They are already a bit too long. I often cut them off because the "offense" is not awful, and to wait 9 to 15 minutes to see masses of annoying tourists every time so you can get more views and money.

For what i saw in this video, the women practically touch the soldier with her body, and all he did was shifter his arms, which by doing so the women moved. He did not strike the women...It is a known fact people are premitted to take pictures of the soldier's as long as they do not touch them, and they should stand at a certain distance when taking photos.
At least she had the courtesy to apologize. It was a nudge not a push

Tourists should show these soldiers respect. The woman simply stood to close. The soldier never hit her. The title is very very misleading. God bless all our armed forces who work tirelessly to keep us all safe.
These guards have fought for queen king and country and the tourists show no respect at all they think they are there for their amusement my father was a Royal Marine Commando and died for this country so for me to see these trained guards being used for amusement it angers me something should be done for tourists to keep their distance from guards and horses
I have an idea, don't dress them up in a ridiculous outfit, holding a stupid sword, like is he gonna hack someone up with it?, and send them out on the streets to either stomp around or stand there looking silly and doing nothing.

@@ShenandoahShelty these guards are highly trained men I agree tourist will be tourists but there is a seriousness to their job there should be a notice to keep distance from guards and horses that's all it would take to make things easier for both guards, horses and tourists being shouted at because they are getting in the way of these soldiers
@@dianagette4796 That is Regimental Dress Uniform and is in respect of their several hundred years' service. Perhaps your country does not have such a rich history and traditions. Try saying the same about the Evzones in their dress uniforms (Greece), or the French, German, Italian, Norwegian, etc, and you will find that that sort of ignorant comment will be just as poorly received.

Londoners are just going about their business and the guards need to be respectful of the British public and the tourist's are important if a Guard really pushed someone over that would be a very serious , the Guards should be respected of course

Not many folks bother to say "Thank You" after getting their photo. The guards sure endure a lot from those tourists. All my respect to these soldiers.
I literally cringe watching these videos, for the poor guards I mean. Must be so draining and annoying having to deal with these disrespectful tourists all the time. Not to excuse their behaviour but I think though that some tourists may not understand the real concept of the guards (ie. That they are actual military personnel doing a real job) and maybe think its some sort of light-hearted entertainment show. Still though, I find it shocking that in this current climate, its allowed for members of the public to get that close. It makes me feel really uncomfortable tbh.
I can only watch on YT these lovely guys, standing tall and calm in the circle of some disrespectful idiots.

'Guarding the Queen' is the video..they dont wear ceremonials in training if thats what you want to see..plus they do several years in the middle east, iraq, afghanistan etc,. then time back at Wellington for a break.
