  • While the 2000s is generally presented as one of the biggest toss ups of all of the eras in NBA history, here's why Kobe destroyed his decade unlike any other player ever besides Jordan in the 90s.

I remember there was a time where I thought it was common knowledge to think that Kobe was up to the second best player of all time next to Jordan, then it seemed like overnight, LeBron entered the conversation and the media stopped talking about Kobe all together. Had this happened, I dread to think of all of the debates about Lebron Vs. Jordan because Lebron would have 6 titles, 6 Finals MVPs and 4 regular season mvps. It would be weird considering Kobe would also have 6 titles, 2 Finals mvps and 1 regular season mvp to his name as well bringing his name into a three person debate with Jordan, Lebron and Kobe.

@@skap_attackyou’re a bum. “Kobe made 9 all defense teams that decade” well did you knoe that for his career Tim Duncan made FIFTEEN all defense teams, and was a FAR FAR better defender than Kobe. Also, in 2003 when David “Dry Bones” Robinson was putting up 7PPG, and Tony Parker was a sophomore and Manu was a rookie. Also, you love to talk about LeBron in the 2011 finals, but as a Kobe glazer, you never bring up the 2004 finals, when Kobe played like trash. Also neglecting Tim Duncan’s defense, having less help for the earlier part of the decade, and Kobe and Shaq going out in the second round to Tim Duncan in 2003, when Dry Bones Robinson averaged 7PPG, Tony Parker was a sophomore, and Manu Ginobili was a rookie. Also, the Lakers should’ve never won in 2002. For all of your talk about the NBA rigging things for LeBron, you leave out the 2002 WCF. Oh, and you forgot one thing: Kobe made 9x all defense teams huh? Well for one he didn’t deserve all of them, but two and more importantly, Tim Duncan was a FAR FAR better defender. Kobe had a gambling issue, which Tim Duncan did not have, and Tim Duncan was locking up big men. But wait, Tim Duncan made an all defense team for EVERY YEAR OF THE 2000s. All ten. He should’ve won DPOY in 2003. And before you bring up Gregg Poppavich as Tim Duncan’s coach, Kobe had Phil Jackson. And there’s more: Phil called Kobe uncoachable, something that was never an issue with Tim Duncan. Also, that’s not all: Kobe has 4 chips for the decade (2010 doesn’t count), Tim Duncan has three, however no rigging was involved for Tim Duncan. Duncan could play in any system, Kobe couldn’t. Duncan was more clutch and didn’t jack up shots, arguably the most unselfish player in NBA history. Also, the one thing Kobe was better at was scoring, and yet he only won two scoring titles. Tim Duncan is better on the head to head matchups. Tim Duncan was a far better off-ball player on BOTH ends of the floor, and was far better in the post season. I’m not a Kobe hater, he’s 8th all time, but I got Duncan at 6. And just to trigger you even more, LeBron’s at two. And before you bring up steroids for LeBron, Kobe was for sure taking them as well. Unreal athleticism and also a receding hairline very early on. His muscle mass was crazy for a dude his size, and was still playing at an elite level until he tore his Achilles. Meanwhile, Tim Duncan had a very natural decline. And you trying to discredit Pau Gasol as if he wasn’t a great passing big man. Sorry but Kobe’s 2009 run was not near Tim Duncan in 2003. You bring up scoring for Kobe being better but Tim Duncan is better at everything else. Tim Duncan was losing to Kobe in 2000-2002 because Kobe had Shaq. Tim Duncan was much better against the 2005 Pistons than Kobe in 2004. Also, Tim Duncan won more MVPs than Kobe.
Now let’s look at how many years each player was the best player in the 2000s
      Shaq: 3 (2000, 2001, 2002)
      Tim Duncan: 3 (2003, 2004, 2005)
      Kobe: 2 (2006, 2008)
      LeBron: 2 (2007, 2009)
(Tim Duncan called LeBron the best in the world during the 2007 finals, and don’t try to bring up the media or the NBA pushing narratives. Because Kobe was always being called the next “MJ”, and LeBron got a cheeks Cavs team to the NBA finals in 2007)
Kobe was an all-time great, 100% top 10 of all time, no doubt about it. But he’s not better than Tim Duncan, and the 2000s was Tim Duncan’s decade. Don’t ever disrespect Tim Duncan again. I really hope that Legend of Winning, Johnny Arnett, or Rusty Buckets finds your sorry channel, because they will tear you to shreds, just like what LOW did with Dreamerspro, and just like what Marz did to Ticket.

He had a special place in my heart ever since I was a little kid sitting in front of the TV and trying to soak up as much NBA basketball as I could before bedtime. Many years have gone by since then. I'm now an adult in my 20s, and Kobe has sadly been gone for almost 4 years now. But even after all this time, my love and admiration for Kobe still hasn't changed. Heck yeah! Kobe absolutely dominated the 2000s on both sides of the court and was laser focused. There is no debate that Kobe tore the 2000s apart both inidividually, and helped his team to win and to win Championships. Kobe also had a lot less help than MJ, but it didn't matter because he was so individually dominant and insanely driven. His 81 point game still blows my mind and is insane to watch. That's hard to do in a video game, let alone real life, and he is second to only Wilt, but Kobe actually accomplished more than Wilt when it comes to winning 5 championships.
I also thought Lebron was a bust and that Dwayne Wade is better because Lebron couldn't win championships without him, but the media constantly shit on Kobe and shoved Lebron down our throats. Lebron was apparently the next MJ, but he just couldn't win, but Kobe was winning and admired MJ and even befriended him, but Lebron was somehow better? It made absolutely no sense. That's when I stopped caring about the NBA. Lebron was supposed to be the next best thing and he went ringless for nearly a decade, and it just kept getting worse.

Dwyane Wade has 3 championships and Lebron has 4. Wade also actually went to college (but unfortunately didn't graduate) and played pretty damn well for Marquette too, though he couldn't take them all the way.
Meanwhile, while Lebron was individually doing pretty well, he went ringless for 9 years, until he had to break the league and try to forge a superteam in order to finally win, and then fell far short of winning his own projected "Not 4, not 5, not 6..." 🤦‍♂️.
Don't get me wrong, Lebron has individual achievements, but he is nowhere near being to GOAT of anything, unless you count turnovers, missed shots, and choking in the finals.
Sorry, but Kareem earned every single one of his points, playing against other tough centers and tight man to man and often full court press defense, whereas Lebron scores countless completely uncontested shots against loose zone defenses, gets made up fake foul calls because he flops and the reffing is a joke, and he blatant stat pads. So that scoring record is hallow and not nearly as meaningful as Kareem's record, or Wilt's records, or Bill Russel's, or MJ's, or Kobe's, or Hakeem Olajuwon's, or John Stockton's, or Robert Parish's...
If you honestly think Lebron is somehow the GOAT, then you gotta look up more about basketball history.

2000s was the most competitive era...my personal favorite! It was magical! This was the only era where every position was competitive and stacked. There's so many great teams, great players, iconic/controversial moments that happened during this era:
MJ returning for a bit (showing he still has it),
Vince Carter's iconic dunks and iconic dunkers in general like Jason Richardson,
2002 Kings getting robbed or rigged rather of a chip,
    Kobe/Shaq dynasty lakers,
    Shaq's dominance
    The Jail Blazers,
    Malice in the Palice
The underdog 2.0 bad boy Pistons putting an end to the Lakers dynasty and becoming the big dogs,
    Iverson's elite skills,
Tim Duncan and the Spurs going neck-to-neck with the dynasty Lakers,
T-Mac, and him single-handedly taking shitty teams to the playoffs,
Freakish centers like Yoa Ming and Shawn Bradley,
    The 2001 Milwaukee Bucks,
    Dirk and Nash Mavericks duo,
    Jordan's official retirement,
The most iconic draft class is 2003 with Bron, Melo, and Wade leading,
Jason kidd's quest for the title,
    Kobe 81 points
Wade winning his first chip his 3rd year and a Finals MVP with Shaq
    The big 4 Celtics
Then last, Kobe closing out that era by going back-to-back without Shaq (taking out prime Dwight Howard, the big 4 Celtics) and almost creating another Laker dynasty.
There's more iconic things I'm purposely missing because I'd be here all night typing.
Shaq, and Duncan esp were top candidates for this era, but there's one man who this era belonged to over them, and it was Kobe Bryant! What he did during the 2000s was magical and probably will never be duplicated again...even though what Jordan did in the 90s was the most magical. The 2000s belonged to Kobe, but Duncan and Shaq were the runner-ups.
80s - Magic (Larry Bird Runner up: everyone calls it the Magic vs Bird era, but Magic got the better of Bird. I wouldn't say he single-handedly dominated his era to the level that MJ, Kobe, and Bron did, but for the most part I'll still give him this era because all of his chips came in this era).
    90s - Jordan (no runner-ups)
2000s - Kobe (Tim Duncan and Shaq runner-ups)
    2010s - LeBron James (Steph Curry runner-up)

2000s had very ugly basketball in the early years stop with the revisionist history. Teams would end up having 75-85 points at the end of the game. Every team was playing hero ball and there was very little ball movement. And it was way too defensive. The ratings were struggling back then because of it. The phoenix suns team lead by Steve nash rejuvenated the nba and brought In a more fast paced exciting brand of basketball. The 90s was overall the most entertaining basketball played ever when you combine offence and Defense and that’s why the ratings were so high back then.

He became the only player in NBA history to average 35ppg and make 1st Team All-Defense in the same season with Michael Jordan. Kobe finished tied for 1st in the entire NBA in Player Efficiency Rating that season. The Lakers had the 3rd worst offensive rating in NBA history when he was off the court, he averaged 40ppg for 2 months that season. The Lakers were a lottery team without him and he didn't have another teammate who finished top 10 in MVP voting like Steve Nash had in Shawn Marion who was the best defender on the Suns. Meanwhile Nash didn't average 20ppg or contribute defensively at all to the Suns. Kobe played with Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, Kwame Brown, Brian Cook, Luke Walton and rookie Bynum. 60 win Mavs team was a 4th seed. Kobe outscored them in 3 quarters that season by dropping 62 points. @koolkai4299 Yeah sorry but Kobe avg 35 ppg while getting his team to only 45 wins isn't moving me. It's easy to score a bunch of points to be a one man show. Nash got his team a higher record while being more efficient than Kobe. After he did avg 18 ppg on 50/40/90. And while Nash wasn't great on the defensive end but his elite passing and playmaking is what elevated that team to having the best offense in league.
Not to mention in 2006, let alone Nash, Kobe wasn't even above Lebron or Dirk that season in the MVP voting.

i'll be interested in who you got for the 10's i think it's pretty obvious too... Steph Curry, matched lbj's 3 titles for the decade, had 2 mvps, and redefined offensive ball for the whole league, plus he got his 3 titles against lbj. and all 3 of those titles, i'd argue curry's supporting cast was inferior to the "king's", and when you look at the fail durrant has been without curry, or the fact curry took 2 rings without durrant, or the nba basically robbing curry of a 4th ring by fixing the 16 finals, i'd say he's probably the best player of the decade.

It's a known fact that Kobe struggled to get a ring post-Shaq. So much so, that the league let the Grizzlies gift wrap Pau Gasol to the Lakers in early 2008. Before that trade, the Lakers were good but not championship good. That trade turned them around.
I'm not saying he (Kobe) wasn't great but let's be real. He got a LOT of help from Shaq, Gasol and Jerry West (GM of the Grizzlies at the time) .

Wow. Great video. It really puts Jordan and Kobe in their own unique category. Kareem and Wilt being admirable just below them in dominating the decade. Both Kareem and Wilt just won 1 title each in those decades although so that’s why you really see how incredible Jordan and Kobe were. Magic and Bird also dominated, and won titles, although they didn’t quite dominate as much over everyone else. It probably was the best decade. The 2010s are more of a toss up. Curry really wins it in terms of his impact in changing the game basketball wise, although I don’t really love the era he brought in. Still, he is the best in terms of dominating compared with LeBron who changed super team after super team, and played as a kind of all rounder. I really wouldn’t mind placing him at the 10th or 11th best player of all time, and if he and his fans accepted that reality, I’d have more respect for him, especially with his longevity. It’s the GOAT nonsense that is so annoying. Like a gnat in my face in August. Not really a problem, but just aggravating. It’s like arguing Brett Farve is the greatest QB of all time and disrespecting Brady and Joe Montana. You’d be better off just saying he’s better than Troy Aikman, John Elway or Peyton Manning, even Dan Marino or Roger Straubach or Fran Tarkington, Johnny Unites

Duncan has higher VORP, Box plus/minus, win shares, win shares per 48, and PER. Both Total and Per season. Duncan wins them all. Every. Single. One. More MVP's, wins, and Finals MVP's as well. Edited because I forgot TS%. Timmy owns that one too. Duncan won 71.9% of his games. More than 7 out of 10 games is a win. 59 wins per season average. Kobe is at 62.1%, or an extra loss every ten games. 51 wins per year. Still great numbers, but not great enough.

That kobe stuff used to be almost lebron level of hype and love where the media would just fawn over him. And it wasn't as annoying than it was with LeBron cause obviously kobe was better, but it got delusional at times cause he did have shaq and he did have those years where the team wasn't that great. I never got the duncan having great teammates thing and yet kobe had a top 10 player of all time and wasn't even a fmvp during that run. Also he did quit during a playoff series. Duncan was consistently always competing for titles and he only ever had one top 75 player on his team, and idk if I would count kawhi cause he duncan was still the best player in during those 2014 playoffs. Also there's several miracle shots/plays that have happened that have stopped duncan from 6 or 7 titles

Another great vid by Skap. What people forget is that in Dec.2009, Kobe fractured his index finger on his shooting hand. He refused surgery. Went into a shooting slump. Had to change his jump shot. Played the rest of the season and the playoffs with the broken index finger = won his 5th ring, playoff MVP, 1st team All-NBA offense AND defense. Like Larry Bird, Kobe's finger never was close to being right again. Kobe friggin' BEAN! The last warrior in the NBA. May Kobe's legacy never die.
Can't wait to read the lame LeFlop Fanboy comments. (they're comin'!). I'm sure you'll see something like these:
LBJ's rookie ppg was higher than Kobe's rookie season, that makes LBJ the GOAT. 🤣
If LBJ had help with the Cavs, he definitely would have won at least 2 rings in the 2000s... 🤣🤣
If LBJ didn't sprain his big toe in 2007, he definitely would have swept the Spurs in the Finals... 🤣🤣🤣
