      @@alexscott730 that doesnt change the fact that recording a song in one take is impressive, considering musicians who've been playing for 50 years or more will do multiple takes to make sure they've got the sound they want or because they made one tiny little mistake that no one besides them would notice.

      @@aceundead4750 The Rev recorded Sounding the Seventh Trumpet album in 1 take. Not just 1 song. They had almost no budget for the album & Jimmy had basically all the freedom to do it how he wanted, & he wanted to do it in 1 take. M.Shadows even comfirms this is an interview, said you can hear him getting sloppy towards the end of the album because it was 1 take start to finish, but that's what The Rev wanted, bragging rights that he could actually do it.
      Flogtastic Alex over here is just upset because he'll never leave behind a legacy.

      He smiles because he flubbed the fill going into the second part of the verse. There's a pause and an extra beat here that isn't in the album version. He smiles and keeps going and everything else sounds like the recorded version so this might be the take they used and they just spliced out that little mess up.

      Draves well I’m guessing you don’t play any instruments because the entire stage album the amount of skill and technique to play the first 30 seconds of any song of that album takes decades of practice brook wackerman is an amazing drummer gates will out play anyone you put in front of him I’m sure of it shadows vocals have improved so much since 2009. You have to give them credit they definitely haven’t listened to labels they are doing what they want and they are one of the highest caliber bands EVER.

    • @thesummit615
      @thesummit615 5 років тому +80

      Draves They’re still a good band (not my cup of tea, but still good). I have no problem with a band wanting to make more money. Besides, Brooks is probably the closest to The Rev that they have had since his passing. Mike Portnoy, who is an incredible drummer, didn’t even do the band justice like I thought he would be able to.

    • @dedo7326
      @dedo7326 5 років тому +13

      ujustdiealready if you play a instrument especially guitar and really want to take your playing to a completely new level that is super different and mind blowing just try one of the songs from the stage that’s how I really got into it because of the immense skill he has to play even 15 seconds of a song is really impressive. But now if you don’t care about the playing and only about the old stuff then I completely understand why it’s hard to listen to. But if you really care about music I suggest picking up guitar and trying any a7x song even so far away a slow place song is difficult. Now if you are wanting to drumming anything after waking the fallen and before welcome to the family is impossible for just about anyone.

      @@jacobgrimes9626 Earth to me? What? Man I'm 34 years old and have been playing drums since I was 6. I play several instruments and have been in bands my whole life. I'm currently in a touring band. My point is, I'm almost always around musicians. The only time I really ever see anyone throw headphones on is in the studio. And even in the studio it's not common. I own 2 Roland electric kits and don't use headphones. My drummer sometimes practices on his Roland kit and also plugs into a monitor. I've never met or seen a drummer wear headphones unless they're in the studio recording and need to hear playback or a click. In ear monitors are what 99 percent of drummers use if they want a click.
      So maybe you do wear headphones while you're playing in your bedroom. I'm just telling you that you're an exception and it's definitely not a normal thing. Any serious drummer will attest to that.

Period. Nobody can deny that. I'm not knocking the drummer here, and it's worked into the song well. The drummer himself is a pro musician. It's not that he played the doubles, it's where in the song he fit them. But it's such a simple thing, I don't see why the comments are flooded about it being hard to do when it's not at all.

      ...but....

I'm 21, and I just recently, around age 20, started taking lessons off and on. It's a semester thing, and sometimes I can't get in a slot, and I miss the semester. I was taking some from an old church friend, but she seemed to get super impatient with me, and so I haven't seen her in a while.

      Drumming is all about efficiency of motion my dude, you cant be tense and flailing around if you want to play well.

    Man, I remember when this came out. I heard from Avenged Sevenfold... Just downloaded the record out of curiosity... and been a fan ever since. Bought the record eventually. One of my all time favorite records.

    I always love this clip because it's such a good example of how you shouldn't judge by the cover. Meaning, if we never knew the Rev and this emo-asf dude walked into a Circle K, you'd just assume he was just living with mom playing video games all day yet instead he's one of the most amazing drummers ever to live.

      Most amazing drummers ever? No, he's not in that list.
      He's dead, that's why he's overrated. Dave Grohl, for example, owns him, easy.

    • @BPoweredLove
      @BPoweredLove 2 роки тому +42

      @@TheNewbiedrummer Jesus Christ, you have to be kidding me. Grohl was an AVERAGE drummer, that's why when he made his OWN band, he hired a drummer.
      Danny Carey, as one random example, is a world-class drummer. Danny is definitely better than Jimmy, but Jimmy could cover Danny's work. Dave, whom I love, could never dream of covering Danny.
      Again, I love Grohl but he is only an average drummer. Prove me wrong. Not by just saying it, prove it.

      @@TheNewbiedrummer Also, I clearly wrote "ONE OF the most amazing drummers" not what you wrote as an attempt to quote me, "most amazing drummer". I never said that. Let's be accurate if you want to have a legitimate discussion.

      @@BPoweredLove grohl is more than an average drummer, and he sings and plays guitar for foo fighters, hence needing an extra drummer. obviously the rev is on another level but you can elevate him without putting down grohl

    Fuck man, this band helped me get through some tough times in High School when I lost my best friend to an accidental gun shot. I was devastated when Jimmy died. But, this band is dope as hell. Rest Easy, Rev. hope you’re jamming with Aidan up there.

    As a drummer I miss the Rev a lot. He was such a big influence for me and my drumming. When he passed, it was very tough.
