I look like an ice cream cone in skinny jeans. I’m an inverted triangle, size 8-10 on the bottom, wide shoulders, large chest, size 12-14 on top. Barrel leg jeans are my fave, they balance me out perfectly and give me a really curvy silhouette. I wore them in the ‘80’s too. I’ve stocked up on them and wide leg trousers so I can rock them, well, until I die. 😅. Oh, also, long legs, shorter torso, so midrise are my friend. Thanks for the great video!!
Generally, low rise jeans leave the waist undefined & looking thicker… as the waist is usually the smallest dimension of the torso, these jeans can really add pounds. They also make your legs look shorter.
For some people, they don't want to define their waist (I'm not one of them), with the right top it can help them appear slimmer. And some people with very short torsos, may prefer a lengthening of torsos. Again, jeans are very personal. :)
I have 3 pairs of tuxedo stripe jeans. One fabric, one solid stripe, one sequin stripe. You're right they're not every day jeans but, when I wear them I get lots of compliments. I'm from Boston so boots with skinnys are a staple. Boot cut or straight leg are my every days. No to barrel. No to crops... I have long legs, so it looks like I shrunk my jeans. Great video 😊

A black pair with silver sequins from INC at Macy's at least 3 years old and a pair that's at least 8 years old with a red racer strip down the side from Diane Gilman at HSN. Barrel jeans: I don’t like them but the way you’re styling yours definitely makes them more appealing versus what I’ve seen advertised. You know how to make them work for you. Ziba… while I admit that the ones you chose are the least offensive I’ve seen… with the greatest respect, absolutely no one looks good in those barrel leg jeans. Those are one of those fashion idiocies that everyone tries to convince themselves looks good when it just does not. It’s like fashion Stockholm syndrome 😂
I believe we need to distinguish between two situations. If someone wants to wear a certain piece of clothing because they like it or because it's fashionable, even if it doesn't particularly suit them, they are, of course, free to do so, and everyone expresses their style as they wish. However, if we want to talk about enhancing one's figure, I believe there are some fairly fixed "rules," in the sense that they are almost scientific matters, dealing with proportions and optical illusions. For example, high-waisted pants look good on everyone, regardless of whether someone is slim or a bit curvier, tall or short. They probably only look bad on someone with an extremely, extremely, extremely short torso. So, if our goal is to present ourselves at our best, independent of fashion trends, then I would say it’s better to follow certain guidelines. But, of course, everyone chooses the path they prefer. Personally, I prefer to show myself at my best, so I will always wear high-waisted pants because I think they flatter me a lot. And even if low-rise pants come back in style one day, I don't think I will ever wear them again.
