- I Flooded a Small Town for Profit in Cities Skylines
Cities Skylines let's play gameplay today diving into the fishing industries dlc! We'll be building a small fishing village, setting up harbors, and seeing how much profit we can make by exploiting the sea! Oh, and we kinda accidentally flood and destroy a small town because I wanted tuna.

I just wanted a tuna sandwich.
words right after disaster
A Scooby-Doo size tuna sandwich by the looks of it. 🤔
epic boi, enjoy your sandwich!
did you do it?
ImKibitz: yes
what did it cost?
ImKibitz: some people's live, and there houses
Keep your tuna outta my dolphin sammich!
To make a flowing river, make the ground below it like an inclined plane from sea level to the water outlets. kinda like a water slide instead of a swimming pool.
Yeah just need it to slope
Thats what a river is irl
To increase profits, shorten the lengths of your fishing paths so the boats reach 100% just before they get back to the harbor instead of halfway through their path
If you still want tuna, try consolidating all your drinking water inlets at the back of a deep channel (put a few curves it it too) and watch your city’s ridiculous thirst create a backwards river. For a city of a hundred thousand its enough to create quite a river in my experience.
you could monitor each fishing route and change each one so by the time they get close to the harbor again its at 99% and then 100 just to maximize time so that its a more constant stream of cash. tedious but could be worth it in the long run
the shareholders would be pleased
@@discomforting_thoughts indeed
does it really matter how long the route is? I mean the harbor send more boats for longer routes and less boats for short routes... the upkeep is the same and the rate of fish the same when you have 4 boats with a route of 100m and 100% or 8 boats with a route of 200m and 100%
@@HISKILP Doing it this way means that there's no wasted time for each boat where they are travelling at 100% capacity for an extended time.
@@HISKILP well if all boats are out you would want them to be out for the least amount of time, time is money and I don't think the boats sell their fish while its still in the boats cargohold
Consider a closed water circuit of intake and output in a relatively deep channel, since the water intake section had consistent tuna. MIGHT have enough "flow" to allow tuna to exist.
Yo Kibitz, you needed a steeper River. your river was flat which when combined with it being below sea level doesn't help the speed that you need for tuna. Also, Tuna and Shellfish have the highest capacity and efficiency, so making a better Shellfish and Tuna area should net a much higher profit than just Anchovy or Salmon.
It takes 32 Salmon/Anchovy harbors to equal one Tuna Harbor and 24 harbors to equal one Shellfish Harbor, in the amount of fish collected.
Fun fact: a big bluefin tuna (around 200 kilogram) can sell for around 200.000 to 400.000 euros.
You need warehouses set to store fish goods. Increases manufacturing and exporting. You can also set up multiple fish markets through out the city once warehouses are set up, just watch that trucks will spend more time on roads.
Love your stuff mate, always look forward to seeing what other crazy stuff you can do with your city
Thousands of people: losing there belongings from the flood
Kibs: ha ha car floating
This city is just the US condensed into a city
“Small town are not heavily gridded” five minutes later grids the entire town. 🤣
I was looking for new video a hour ago in your profile. Didn't expect you to post this sooner. Thanks Mr. Kibitz 😍
"Are crabs shellfish!?" Thanks for the laugh Kibz.
@28:06 keep in mind that the fish factory income isn't included with the fishing industry income (that's just what is being exported). The fish factory income is included in the factories and warehouses income on the last line.
The tuna river would have worked if you had used the ramp tool instead of the flaten tool.
Tuna is the most valuable fish product but its also orcward to find spots that you can harvest it from.
I'm loving this city! A completely normal city where you totally won't be scammed lol
Just a fun note, Deadliest Catch still airs! And the boat you’re thinking of is the Northwestern!
I like how there is always something for I’mkibitz to work on keep it going forever
You should use the Extra Landscaping Tools mod to create a water source :D
I can see the flooding already. It'll be so much worse... He should definitely do it!
13:04 Quick question... if tuna like fast-flowing water, then why no apply a gradual slope from Mount Floodmore to the ocean? Water runs downhill right? Wouldn't that give you a much larger tuna area to fish in?
Water needed to be super deep for tuna to spawn and I couldn't get it to work :(
@@ImKibitz so sad ;(
@@ImKibitz build outlets on the top of the mountain and raise the canal so it’s bottom level is flush with the top level of the ocean and have giant sides to get the depth, wouldn’t you get both speed and depth then?
Kibz, a nice change of pace ive seen that absolutely makes any sort of city, town, etc, much more unique is making them less flat and more varied in terrain height & shape
yes i do see some places are not the same height but they're still very flat
Try and make the river have layers to it so that can help with the stronger water current. I noticed when u where on the ship right where it said tuna it was at a higher elevation
It creates rapids and that should improve flow but do it deep for a little and then have it drop some to creat the flow and repeat. I think that should work
Also try to let the ocean fill it up first because tuna aren't freshwater fish. But im not sure if the game is that in depth
Found your vids like 2 weeks ago and now I look forward to every video you upload
I'm not 100% sure, but I think to get flowing water, the river floor has to be above the ocean surface, as the ocean might delete any excess water above it
The other way you could create a water flow in the sea is by removing water, like at the water pumps for your city. I think they might pump regardless of how much the city uses
But all that I'm not 100% sure about, as it's been a few years since I last played around in the editor
You so chilled about disasters it's entertaining lol
Keep these up bro . Love this series 🔥
would be interested in seeing a "heat map" overlay over your map of profit per area size. like the amusement park is now profitable but it does take up a lot of space on the map. is it as profitably dense as say your mining sector or university sector?
I don't even look at the titles anymore, as long as it's an imKibitz video with a cities skylines or planet crafter thumbnail, I click.
Loves this series please keep it going!!
love you man, very entertaining
Just found your videos and your very funny and doing great, keep it up .awesome work
at least he didn't have a nuclear power plant in the village
Seriously get those water cleaning boats ready
They don’t cost a lot and clean up the pollution, not only do you win fishing space but also water one might want to drink
"Are crabs fish?" "Oh yes, they are"
You have no idea how much that hurt me
Kibitz - I'm going to make a deep flowing river. Makes a deep pool instead. To make it a river there has to be a elevation decline from source to the ocean.
this is supposed to be city that takes advantage of its residents but i feel like what you've created is a self sufficient city where everything is manufactured locally. I rate it.
Every time this man puts out a new video it gets more and more crazer
Holy, Another Video! Amazing!!
Thanks so much for the video.
Much appreciated.
yessssss kibitz much love for the city skylines videos
My god I love this series
You don't upload these fast enough..lol Keep'em coming 😁
He could so easily fix the river by simply having the bottom of the river elevated compared to the ocean floor, and just have it slowly decline towards the ocean, like an actual river.
If the river bottom is the same flat level as the ocean, or just flat at all, there wont be flow.
It needs to be a continual slope downhill.
Kibitz when playing satisfactory; hmmmmm I need to do this many spreadsheets and this is optimal so let’s do this
Kibitz when playing this game; “OwO Oopsie woopsie I cawsed natuwaw disastaw hehe profits ✨
you sound like dr evil when you have a mischievous plan and i love it
The slope tool is a good tool to make slopes, so water can run down it and make water rapids where tuna gets spawned.
Love it!
Man the music in these videos is unreal 🔥🔥
Instead of using the water outlets to try and make tuna happen, use the water inlets. Its already working on your existing inlets
I like the idea of pushing back the volume of the sea with a few outlets xD But it would make more sense to have the "tuna lane" elevated above sea level so the sea doesn't push back :P
Love the vids
Brah! The tides will keep flooding the city. Add a shoreline walls.
Love you kibz
To get more tuna try making the river slope more, instead of just being a trench. Then the water would flow down, and not sit there.
Ahoy! Nice work. Perhaps placing the water outlets along the channel's length, periodically... we'd reaccelerate the current. Game on!
Try making a actual park with the park dlc, or a huge helicopter/services place. Also try using all of the transport types for a challenge. Also I love your vids, keep making beautiful content.
He already made an amusement park
@@Unnamedchannel755 i know
@@Unnamedchannel755 i had more of an nature park as the idea
I agree with you, deadliest catch is a great show
Omg I laughed so hard through the repeat tsunamis 🤣🤣🤣
that's some mighty biiiiig fiiiiiiiiiiiish you got there, bruh... also, nice shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiips
You could use your sewage as water source just clean it using the floating water filter systems
The riverbed needs to start high near the waterfall and slope down to the sea.
new kibitz content 😋
Lmfao. You had me at "wait I have to Google if crabs are shellfish"
I don't know who are you (never see you channel)BUT you are The best!
Next episode, make your fishing more effective. The route needs to come back at 100%.
in this episode, the fish fight back.
You should try to create a narrow river for the tuna. Make it gradually sloped, so you get a high flowrate.
Kibitz: its a small town small towns aren't gridded out of existence
Also Kibitz: "Grids the town out of existence
Revenge of the fish - StarWars reference on the 5th of May
He uploaded now my day is amazing 🤩
dont know if you know surviving mars, but i played it my first time today, and i think you would like it, would be nice if you consider to make a lets play about it :D
_A boy becomes a Man…_
*Welcome to the CS community sir. Creating tsunamis is what we do.*
18:25 You watched deadliest catch? My family loves that show!!!
Episode 6: Revenge of the FEESH!
The feeeeesh. I laughed more every time you said it
You forgot the magic trick! Warehouses :D
How many hours do you have on this save file now?
Thanks for all your hard work!
The revenge of the tuna
The welsh: where have I heard that from
loved the video, but it didn't have enough choo
You go kibitz
Well um you can just expand your water extractors. So that all the water is flowing to the water extractors and just use the terraform tool to make it deep. :)
23:00 "Who remembers the Great Tuna Disastah of '22?"
milk -> cereal -> spoon -> bowl
share holder speaking, I am angry where are my tuna, I am the biggest shareholder in the indusial district
If you make the river from mount Floodmore more sloped and add fresh water interesting at the end to get the flow rate up
Did you forget about the water intake location? Lots of tuna there.
If you ever revisit the floodmore river again make it a trench from the river mouth of the river to the city water intake should make a constant current in the underwater river of the trench
You should get water trucks, I think they are from the disaster Dlc, they can suck up all the water that the town gets constantly flooded with.
this is how i imagine my stellaris playthroughs look like, on the planet scale.... pure suffering for profit, and prioritizing the upper academic classes, even though i claim iam egalitarian
New insurance update looks lit
wake up honey, kibitz just uploaded new video
he is getting all of tha fiiish
You don't need a specific fish. It's just a fake label. The game just processes fish into fish products. You could just stick to anchovy and get the exact same results.
As a fish farmer this is way too cool
You already have a mod, in your bottom right corner, that can add a natural water source rather than the water out flow things.
cant you just have water outlets and then have the water get sucked up by water intakes instead for a more consistent flow of TUNA
Just remember Kibs. Starkist doesn't want tuna with good taste. Starkist wants tuna that tastes good. ;)
You get used to smells. So a fisher would not smell the fish market.
