This may be a stupid question but how would I get my engine vapor blasted without taking it all the way apart? Is that even possible? If I wanted to paint part of it black would it even be worth it to vapor blast before?
Regardless of the type of blasting, you would have to take the engine apart. There is no way to prevent media from entering the engine. I wouldn't pay for a premium finish like vapor blasting and then paint over it, although I hear it is good prep for paint.
Tyler, this is Zach with VaporShine, we are located at 2108 West Ferry Rd #102, Naperville, Illinois, 60565. We have a shop that would be able to disassemble your engine for you at their labor cost $125 per hour. Our cost is 75$ per hour for vapor blasting. We do recommend, yourself to disassemble and reassemble because as much time as we spend trying to blow out and clear all the necessary sediment from the blasting process, it is your responsibility to ensure that all the oil ports etc.. are cleared and ready to rock n roll! Vapor Blasting process cannot be accomplished without disassembly. Feel free to email me at vaporshinechicago@gmail.com and send over pictures and we can work up a quote for you.
If you are in need of CB550 parts you should try Godffery at godfferysgarage.com his shop is in Burlington, WI and is a friend of mine and has helped me big time with my CB550F he has a bunch of CB550's hanging out back of his Garage in a tent. Just thought I would mention it.
Yes, heard of him. He built the cb550 cafe overkill, which was here for some service years ago. Anyway, my engine is all together now. Thanks for the help.
That is correct however he has many other parts he even does custom brakes and he still makes that hydraulic clutch that he used on Cafe Overkill so as you put your 550 together just keep it in mind. Have a great Sunday! Oh and that Motor turned out fantastic I bet it runs just as good!
