I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a good way to have good looking tap handles that also give info on the beer. Pretty sure this is the answer I've been looking for. Beautiful execution all around, thanks for sharing.
@@JackmanWorks damn 3 years gone by, I got a lathe and just got asked to make some tap handles and I thought wait a minute didn't the guy who brought us "LUST" make some of these :)
Hey Paul, these Tap Handle videos have been very helpful, the clever way of numbering each tap, using the threaded insert and bolt to mount, the template with the shape and measuring, and the camera and editing work to a new level! Later, Murph
Wow, very nice work. Although, I would not have bothered cutting the corners off on the table saw before putting them on the lathe. Seems like an extra step to me. Perhaps a spindle roughing gouge is in order? Beautiful results regardless!
For just 1 I probably wouldn't, but for this set of 6 it's totally worth it. That's a lot of extra material that is removed so you don't have to turn it down. Also, the initial cuts are then less aggressive and it's easier to get round.
Nice technique on the tops with the epoxy. I wondered how you did that when I saw photos. I know that feeling when you start out with the epoxy and you and all exact and clean. Smash cut to it being everywhere and you are rubbing it in with gloved hands.
Thanks heaps mate. They look terrific. Love the resin inlay and top. Currently building a bar with resin car parts in the top. May steal your idea and make some channels for the resin too. Stevo
Nice work Paul. Your engineer is showing. I think you accidentally said intumescent instead of iridescent. I like how you cut and epoxied and the top before turning the handle.
It's definitely a tip I'll keep in mind for if I do something like that. I really like the videos where I can learn a new technique without having to go through all the head scratching myself :)
OMG these handles are so flawless I wish I would have a use for it so i can make one of these babies but I love the design I'll use it in a future project By the way the music is just awesome added both of them to my playlist. Your Videos are one of the best everything fits it's a warm feeling rushing through my body. Very very nice work please do more videos like that stay the same! Totally Awesome :o
Simply gorgeous, man! Outstanding work! How long had that beech log been drying? You must have been so delighted when you saw just how much spalting was in there once you milled it down. Turned out so awesome.
I had the log kicking around for a couple of years but I still let it dry between planing it down and actually pouring the epoxy in and turning it. If you watch closely you can notice I got a new camera in the time while they were drying :D
What kind of camera did you get? I'm still using some garage-sale quality HD camcorder and I'm getting pretty desperate to step up my game. Shoot me a message sometime. I'd be real interested in talking through what gear you use and what your process is. Mine is in desperate need of refinement.

Utterly hypnotic. Then, when I came to, I realized my own tap handles will never be as good.
Crazy how your Planner's pitch almost matches with the music! pretty sweet!
Took some finagling, but I think it was worth the effort ;)
Beautiful Paul!

Did I miss one!! I had to correct that a couple of times but figured I might leave one in there somewhere lol
Intumescent is a cooler word anyway ;)
These look fantastic! Nice work man!
Nailed it! Beautiful work brother! ❤️🤘
Nice work.
Really awesome work on this one man. I like the technique you used for the resin on top of the handle.
Thanks! That took a lot of head scratching to figure out :)
It's definitely a tip I'll keep in mind for if I do something like that. I really like the videos where I can learn a new technique without having to go through all the head scratching myself :)

I upgraded from a Canon t3i to a Sony a6500, but honestly the Canon would be a huge upgrade over one of those camcorders
