The best raw oysters I've ever had were in New Orleans. Just $13 for a dozen of absolutely massive oysters that were just pulled from the water hours before. Truly an incredible meal.

I travelled and tried many oysters, when i was back in my country,my friend whom owns a bar imported new zealand bluff oysters, the day i had that bad baby with drops of tabasco,i will never forget the experience! It retained the water inside it where it originated from too,for me i would say, that's the best in the world, second is any coastal japanese town oysters 👍 for any seafood lovers, try them when you drink👍
i was driving in Louisiana one day and i saw a little shack that had a stack of empty shells out back that was about 10 feet tall...they even pave the roads with clam shells. aint no gravel in the delta.
I've only had oysters once or twice because they aren't the most economical item on the menu. I love seafood though (but hate traveling) but I'd love to give something like this a try.
I need to go here!!!!! ugh!!! although...if any of you have tasted Bluff Oysters in NZ.... those things... are RIDICULOUS!!! my opinion, the best in the world! along with their mussels. But, ill be absolutely willing to try here! hehehe
Typically, the colder the water the more flavourful the shellfish. So while the oysters in the southern US are tasty they don't match up to those found in cold ocean water. Try a Malpeque or a Raspberry Point oyster from Prince Edward Island, Canada, and you will see what I mean.
Nope, cold water does not always mean better. If you like the taste of dirt, then yea, a PEI oyster is what you want to eat. A Pacific Oyster is leagues a head.
I feel like oysters are one of those things that is enjoyable to eat because you tell yourself it’s good and everyone eats it. If everyone ate tarantulas and told you it’s good you’d probably be fine eating tarantulas as well. In reality it really just looks like a soft slimy snotball stuck in a rock.
The one local bar near me called Cole's public House in Amherst Ohio (sorry had to give them a shout out) always had a standard menu but then they changed up a lot of the other things like they always had oysters Rockefeller but the oysters on the half shell they would serve them plain with cocktail sauce or just lemon whatever you prefer and they would always come up with something creative like the one time it was a soy Ginger with cucumber and then one other time I'm pretty sure that they put a little bit of rice wine vinegar they minced up pickled ginger and I couldn't place the name of the third ingredient but I know they put something else in there and they were out of this world
Yo I was gonna say nice work on getting the cultural ambassador from the local government there onto your show, that's pretty neat and legit. In actuality I paused before pressing Comment and googled her name and found out she isn't the cultural ambassador, Irvin Mayfield is. I get that it might seem cool to throw that tag under her name but come on, that's not that different from putting 'Mayor' under her name - it's misleading, especially to people out of area. I also found that she entertains the myths of ghosts and a myriad of other lunacy, so please can you refrain from whacking legitimate labels on random people in the future? Also no politics videos please, you guys aren't buzzfeed or some other bottom-tier clickbait.
I’m a bit worried as I’ve started eating oysters and I absolutely love them. But I’ve heard a lot of bad about eating them raw and getting vibriosis. What are the chances and what are the signs to look out for, are there any signs you have a bad oyster? I want to keep eating them so any help would be great
Only eat them if the month has a R in them i.e November, December etc etc. Also always chew the oyster before swallowing, if it taste anything but the usual taste, spit it out and announce proudly to everyone...you don't swallow.
Tony DeTuna ...just go a little heavier on the cayenne pepper hot sauce. It adds flavor in addition to killing any petroleum based viral or bacterial deadly organisms.
No way! Best, fattest, juiciest, flavoursome oysters are most definitely from beautiful New Zealand!!!!!! World famous Bluff oysters all day whoop whoop
I tried an oyster once when I was like 12 it didn't go well. I vowed to never eat another oyster in my life will I never break that promise, but it's still love watching others eat them
its the taste of the ocean... salty but not overpowering, mineral taste, smooth texture, savoury. best with a dash of lemon juice and fresh from the shell.
I’m from New England and the oysters here are delicious. I lived in Florida for 7 years and I found the oyster shells were heavily encrusted with barnacles, and even smaller oysters stuck to them. You couldn’t get a shucked oyster to lay on a platter without it tipping over. The taste was fine but not the same clean briny flavor of a cold water oyster. To each his own I guess.
The best oysters in the world are the bluff oysters only found in new Zealand in the south island . Every body that knows anything about oysters will no that.
