After decluttering for awhile, I can enjoy it in the store and don't want more stuff in our house to declutter.

I work in the retail industry and it is crazy!!!
    I am now going minimal.
My husband has dementia, I do not need just things around.
In my past I was a shopaholic
    65 now and have learned.

Just watching the example images in your video was super triggering! I wanted to go internet window shopping after this video. Instead I covered the video and watched the CC so I could pay attention to just your words. I have your No Spend Challenge pages for this year and I’m determined to do a good job this year! Now I’m handing my computer off to my kids to play a game while I go do some decluttering. It’ll help me refocus :)

I always tell my husband that I have to go to Hobby Lobby because that’s where I keep my stuff - I go there to enjoy all the items but they don’t come into my home. Works for me! 😄

Self awareness & coming to grips with who we are and how we got here is so important. Then after the “Ah hah” moment, it’s also important to put it behind us & let go of the guilt. You are there now. March forward with confidence in your newly found insights and skills.

Hi. Even though I don't have the shopaholic syndrome I used to have. I appreciate you talking about it. I wished I would've have heard of it when I was drowning in debts because of it. I appreciate you talking about it because it will be helping so many people like us when we were in that unending shopaholic hole. Thank you for helping people become aware of it. I sure wasn't when I was in it. I'm sure a lot of them don't realize they have a problem. Thank you again.

Don't forget that some of those people who upload all those hauls and overconsumptions videos can be and most possibly are influencers who want to make you buy more! They usually get paid to advertise or get sent PR packages full of "no value" for them that can cost a month's living for most of us.

yes, i am saying this for years, they are advertisement but online and its not obvious because its not like how it is on tv and the commercials there or like in magazien ad.

Looking beautiful! I have two antiques Valentines 💘 that I put out every year with a pink Best MoM mug from my son. I am a senior senior , so enough for me. Sometimes I make heart shaped cookies.❤

With all you’ve said in this episode kept squarely in mind, perhaps you can thin the ‘stores’ of stuff in the containers in the basement by 50% this year!

Oh I feel this. I am definitely addicted to shopping and I am trying so hard to stop. The things really do trick your mind into thinking it will make you happy.

The hardest thing to do in life is to love one's self. To find it in your heart to just forgive, forget the wrong doings in ones life and just give yourself the grace to accept you have done the very best you could, with what circumstances you had at the time. I know going back in thoughts for you is making you want to tear up and that saddens me, as you have been through a lot. You are finding yourself now, you can see the strength you have grown since I started watching you, some time ago now. Sending you blessings for all you do and wanting to help others. Love from Australia💖😘😘😘

I loved the Good Eats show when I was in my 20s. The host talked about avoiding unitaskers, items that could only do one job in the kitchen. I feel that way about all the holiday themed stuff.
I have a 2400 sqft house and all my Christmas decorations fit in 3 medium sized tubs. I have another medium sized tub that’s all my decorations for all the other seasons/holidays. I focus on things that take up very little space like pillow covers, table cloths, and cute wooden signs. My favorite thing is a frame that has 6 different inserts (12 designs front/back). It covers all the holidays and seasons and I never have to store it because it has a permanent home as part of my decor. I buy very little new stuff. It’s been roughly the same decor for about a decade and I only buy a couple new things each year for two sets I’m collecting one piece at a time.

This is what I'm trying to get to. Things that can store flat, things that are lightweight, and tinsel or garlands are what I'm finding feel the most comfortable. I'm in a 900sqft apartment and have more bins than you, but I'm working on it!

I've decided to really buckle down this year after having my daughter. So far this month I've only had one day of fun spending. We're utilizing the library more and what we have in the house. I already see a difference in my credit card statement.

I love that you are going to shop your current belongings. You have an abundance at home, enjoy it! Do you have any valentine themed my Little Ponies of 101 Dalmatians you can add to the current display? Looking forward to your sentimental displays! Cheers. So glad you and your family are feeling better!!!

My vice is garden seeds and grocery shopping. My fabric shopping is now very minimal, on as as need basis, not just dropping a few hundred dollars at a time. Reducing my consumption has been a process but it's beautiful.

😅 You can't hate yourself into changing, but you sure can embarrass yourself to! That's what I did. I'd get home and feel so much guilt and remorse. I feel embarrassed easily, especially when it's a return. Wound up doing that enough that I think twice about buying anything. Wound up still wasting money last year because I was not doing okay at all with my depression and health issues. So even with years under my belt as a minimalist, the dopamine hit is still a struggle to get past. I'll shop, take my time, then reconsider. That alone has helped. Sometimes I literally spend just a $1 😂😂

I am doing a no spend month! Sadly my coat of 15 years fell apart (couldn’t keep replacing buttons anymore). I bought one I like online for $57 so I will not be buying anything else except groceries or needed items!

Also, all those cute decor items will clutter up your home - where will you store them when it’s NOT Valentine season? I ask myself, ‘Do I want to declutter decor I have to store this?’ If the answer is no (it almost always is) I leave it on the shelf.

If you get a rush from buying, try developing a rush in RETURNING it! Get excited seeing the item removed from your credit card bill.. You know we are an overconsumption society when QVC sells mixers in six colors!

I do not like shopping. I have a body shape that they don't sell clothes for. And, I need some new ones bad. I do not wear makeup. The only jewelry I have or want is my wedding ring set. I do not have my nails or hair done. I guess you can say I am plain. I do not shop online at all. I know that things will not do anything for me. The best thing in my life is having Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. He is with me always. The love for Him never fades.

Covid actually helped me MOSTLY with my shopping problem I shopped when I was sad or anxious. But I got laid off and was on unemployment for a long time because of covid and was terrified of that money stopping so I didn't buy even a candy bar. Not a great swing from one extreme to another but now i still have to check myself but I don't go shopping every weekend and have a mini spree. I don't actively plan for no spend challenges but I'm not spending unless I really want something that will add value to my life

January 2025. I seldom buy anything but groceries. My craft supplies are free or second-hand except for things like glue. My clothes were mostly given to me, from yard sales, rummage sales, or thrift shops. Never use credit cards. Every year, "they" pick a color of the year, show new styles of clothing and jewelry.
Just avoid matching pieces of anything. Tina, Al's wife
