- a tone row generated song, but little of the row idea survives save for the chromatic melody in the 'A' section. Laercio was one of the many visiting dignitary priests with whom i played around that time through my Brazilian friends in their church gigs. sometimes we'd travel as far as Boston for a gig, where we played behind Padre Cleidimar for a beautiful experience complete with food and celebration. i remember Edu, the drummer, asking me to play Shubert's Ave Maria at the last second before we left for the gig for Cleidimar. so i downloaded a standard piano score and scribbled chord changes over the paper and we successfully pulled it off. it was his signature song back in Brazil, and on his CD, which he gave to me and signed, blessing my 'ministry'. a very fond memory indeed.this priest, Laercio, was a husky, strongly built guy, and didn't look anything like a typical holy man. a very different personality than Cleidimar, and a very different gig. it was actually more fun and playful than anything else. my Brazilian friends were ultra accomodating and professional, and i remember them grabbing my piano and setting it up, and the sound, and all i had to do was play. loved those times, wonderful people with professionalism and courtesy to spare.
