With all the custom automotive history behind Chip, with all the different hot rods he has put his hands on, the excitement and the pure joy of finding this Barris Bros. creation is written all over Chips face. I also really love seeing the pics of the proud owner behind the wheel....gangster!!!!
Amazing that you are keeping a classic car in original condition and bring it back to life. Looking into the future I can imagine in 50 years, another restorer is drooling over a Foose build in a barn somewhere. Love ya work!
It’s not an original car. It was a hot rod done by George Barris, the guy that built the original Batman car from the tv series with Adam West, he also built a lot of other famous cars. This was one of George’s first custom cars. Sadly George passed away recently and Chip wants to help the family preserve George’s work to help them sell it.
Thank you for filming and posting this. It’s so awesome to see a piece of custom car history so well preserved. I’ve always thought that the stories behind the cars is what makes the cars. The owners dreams are in these cars.
Beautiful car and Story about it’s History! An early Barris Build is Cool to see and Chip is a great choice to show it. Thanks for sharing Guys,😎👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🕊🦋🕊☮️🖤🌅🎉🇺🇸
Amazing piece of hot rod history! A-nd perfect that Chip is involved! The right man for the job! Fantastic that the family kept all the slides and documentation! Incredible time capsule! They're only original once, and this is it! Go Foose and the care takers of this car, keep moving forward!
This is an amazing piece of history and art please Chip do your magic give the resurrection to this car and at least a drive inside the parking lot will be awesome see it soon with all that glamor!!!❤❤❤
Great video. Thank you. In Oregon in 1960, the guys were painting Candy Apple red and Pearl (from Pearls) paint. Medal flake in 1968. I guess I am just an old guy to remember those paint jobs.
I'm an old guy too.. LOL... I remember when those candy colors first came out & the very 1st was Candy Apple Red, reminded me of a candy apple at the state fair... 😁
What a find. The man was an absolute legend. Same goes for you to Chip. The way you can look at a vehicle and see all the small details to do to them is absolutely amazing. Wish I could afford for you to rebuild my 01 single cab Silverado.
Can you imagine Chip Foose washing your car at your house with you! My therapy is cleaning my cars/ trucks/ bikes and detailing them, always feels good. I'd be clinically healed if Chip came by, LoL
Looking forward to your process of getting this car cleaned up and ready for the auction. So many details and possibly some areas that will need attention. After seeing your past restorations, I can’t wait to see the result on this one.
I was lucky enough to meet mister Barris the late 90s at his friend's house, we sat and drank beer and ate pizza talking about old cars I was an acquaintance of his friend in Bonita springs,FL
What an amazing find! Chip's love for this car shines through. I'm astounded at how good of condition the car is in. Getting the engine and brakes in working order is going to be interesting to watch.
Hello Chip…. Proud to say I’m building MY version of your “GrandMaster ‘35 Chev Master Coach Deluxe”…. I saw the REAL Grandmaster at the 2005 Good Guys Show at Del Mar Racetrack…. It was PURE luck that I saw YOUR car approx 5 years after I found MINE cast off in a field in a Lemon Grove, CA brickyard… A most beautiful & unique stroke of GOOD FORTUNE! An amazing once-in-a-lifetime discovery.
What a fantastic find Chip! It looks fantastic after just a wash! That Candy Apple Red still looks deep enough to take a huge bite of when it was wet! Please just clean it & get it running & driving good & that’s it! Keep doing what you do sir! All the best from Scotland!👏👏👏👍❤️🏴🇺🇸
Chip making great memories of a car for a family -and he’s just cleaning it up and giving them some valuable historic information to let them know their father built something that was admired by many.
I'm not trying to be critical but apparently the memories weren't that special to them or they wouldn't be taking it to auction. Because there's no way that I could sell that car. Just one old car guy's opinion.
Chip. You are in heaven ! I'd love to be there with you ! That music was really bugging me .....and then it ticked ! I first heard this in a Buddy Rich video with the wonderful Barbara Stanwick singing "Drum Boogie " Thanks Chip !
This car and the historie is just great. Two guys in the sixties doing their thing. They must have been so proud at their work. I like that Chip Foose sees that nothing needs to change. The cliche it is only original once is totally true for this piece of automotive historie,. l love this small series. We just do not have this in the Netherlands but I really appreciate it.
Packhard tail lights, 58 Buick headlights, 53 Chevy grille ... George Barris custom ... takes me back to my younger days reading Rod and Custom (the half size edition like 8.5 by 5.5 inches) pulp paper mostly B&W.
More of this kind of content and love Chip!! I love seeing you do some archaeology and recount Kustom and Hot Rod history with a hands on approach. 🏁❤️
Fender skirts were frequently stolen in the 59s, and some people put razor blades near the latch lever as an effective deterrent. Easy to spot the person who made the attempt.
Things so wonderful that you don't know who has the fortune, the father that his son loves what he has done or the son does what the father loved, congratulations to both.
I hope whoever buys it at auction shares it with the general public as much as possible and doesn't end up sitting in some private garage for another 50 years. That is truly a museum piece.
That car is a genuine work of art. The only thing that makes you nervous is the thickness of the paint. You don't want to take and remove too much of the surface when your detailing it.
That’s the importance, the love of the passion that was designed by the artist. There’s nothing in the real car world that’s more important than the love
Great to see a second video of the car. It needs the love of Chip and the owners family to stop her getting chopped in to something else, or just fading away into obscurity. 👍 That paint work on the photos WOW
By 1970 these old paint jobs still stood out but when you would git up close you would see how the layers of laqure would of cracked my favorite of these were the pearl white ones .😊
I don't think that I've even blinked watching any of these video's.. I saw this car in the Barris books I used to get from the library so many years ago.
It's really surprising that the car is in such good condition, and it hasn't been messed with. The magazine articles and pictures are very cool. This car was a very big deal at the time, and it's still a big deal all these years later. Guys like Barris were so talented, and the things they did to cars back in the day were amazing... I'm curious how much it will bring at auction.
My Dad bought a 1954 Olds around 1958 or so, blue and white two tone. Historically, my oldest brother slipped on the gas pedal and drove the the left headlight into the cement foundation of our house. I have forgotten the outcome, I think my Dad then bought a brand new Rambler.
Cannot believe the boys didn’t help there Dad to get it clean and running before he passed . Was it respect for there Dad or fear as they never touched it . Glad Chip is all over this project .
Chip the best surface cleaner is vim its in the grocery stores its a cream cleanser that won't hurt the surface even taking off over spray polishes the surface would work great on the convertable top
Chip when i hit the lottery we're both going on the road saving automotive history like this...how great to hear you talking about leading...old Bill would smile and puff his cigar!
You said it...when you come across videos as such it makes me walk out the garage and pick up on my ride where I got a little depressed and move on...we are a strange breed my friend!
Chip, At this point in time, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, I'm really excited to see what this is going to turn out to be. It's 10:51 PM EST, and I've been on my desktop since 9:16 AM, the sandman is beating me stupid and I've got to log off for now. G'nite.
Really cool car! Did not know it was still around! Know I see how those packard tail lights were the cats meow back in the day. Did Gene Winfield also have a hand on this car during its build?
I couldn't sell it, even if I was in financial chaos way to much family history with that car. I would've signed it over to a respected family member before selling it out of the family . That's a Legacy car you'll regret selling that later on. Fantastic custom Chip and his crew will get it back to what it deserves to be.
When this car first popped up over on the H.A.M.B. people were speculating that the interior was likely trashed because the ad had no photo of it. Obviously they were wrong. It looks to be in pretty good shape. The car is gonna clean and polish up real well.
Still retains the King County "A" plates. What an unbelievable treasure. North Bend is at the foothills of the Cascade mountains, rain happens often. The condition is remarkable. My sister worked at this family's clothing store back in the 1970's. Small world. So happy Chip is helping this family.

Nothing like stating the obvious and believing that it's somehow brilliant information😅@@BrentArmstrong
What a great story!!! No one better to tell it and to be part of it than Chip.
I don't think I could sell it if it was mine. Met George several times at various shows, his work was amazing.
*Love this series ! So rare to find an early Barris custom. Cheers Chip 👊😎👍
Good thing Bad Chad didn't get a hold of this car.
Lol
He wouldn't mess with it. He'd just take a chevette and make his own version
Amen
Chad's father george built this car.
I can’t stand that guy.

Those SKIRTS!!!! just made me fall in love with the car..changed the whole look of the car!

love the shot of Barris working on it.

Thanks for sharing Mr.Foose
One of the more tastefully customized cars by Barris. Sweet Ride!

Love your work just a joy to see
Is it normal to get this much joy from watching two men wash a car?

This is so fantastic. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up and running. Ron
I had the honor of having a drink with George Barris when he was at a car show in Buffalo NY. Very down to earth guy and great conversationalist.
More of this kind of content and love Chip!! I love seeing you do some archaeology and recount Kustom and Hot Rod history with a hands on approach. 🏁❤️

Oh man you can feel the love and the history of this car 😁 lost history of early customs needs to be held on to for the future 😎
Things so wonderful that you don't know who has the fortune, the father that his son loves what he has done or the son does what the father loved, congratulations to both.
TY Chip for sharing this...
I love the passion Chip has for people and their cars. I’ve been a fan since I saw him on Rides in 2004. 8:27
I hope whoever buys it at auction shares it with the general public as much as possible and doesn't end up sitting in some private garage for another 50 years. That is truly a museum piece.
I'm absolutely loving this. This would be a dream car, for me. Completely original is exactly the way it should be kept.
Absolutely brilliant chip such a gorgeous car well done my friend ❤
Soo cool! -Love these lil video snippets and this Car. ~Thank you Foose@

Can't wait to see this after a good cut and buff!
Beautiful car.
Thanks for sharing. 😊
If it's not too late, 303 mold & mildew cleaner and a soft bristled toothbrush on that mold. Much gentler on the top!
Great to see a second video of the car. It needs the love of Chip and the owners family to stop her getting chopped in to something else, or just fading away into obscurity. 👍 That paint work on the photos WOW

Chip is absolutely the right man with the passion for this job, the brothers made a great choice.
It would be great to see this in a model kit from for some of us bigger kids!
Cannot believe the boys didn’t help there Dad to get it clean and running before he passed . Was it respect for there Dad or fear as they never touched it . Glad Chip is all over this project .
Well, the one kid isn't really a car guy. You could tell! So that maybe part of it.
So well preserved and as it was. Hopefully won't take much to get it running again.

Chip when i hit the lottery we're both going on the road saving automotive history like this...how great to hear you talking about leading...old Bill would smile and puff his cigar!
That thing is COOOOL!
Funny how you can feel a kinship, with two brothers you never met, but that’s the fraternity of car guys ❤
You said it...when you come across videos as such it makes me walk out the garage and pick up on my ride where I got a little depressed and move on...we are a strange breed my friend!
All that paint Saved it ! 😊
@11:10 such a unique stance, everything about it, looks good.

This car needs to be in Rodders Journal
The history! Brilliant that it has survived.
That is such a beautiful time capsule
