I love it when people hear Slaughterhouse and think OMG these guys are insane, the absolute best of the best lyrically then Em jumps on and totally blows them out the water and shows everyone there's even another level to this shit. Mind boggling brilliance.
It's an ebonics/slang way of saying "ask". They actually do say "aks". I'm American, and I've noticed there are several of these variant versions of words that make their way into the lexicon. When I was in Second Grade I had a black teacher who legitimately would pronounce "ask a question" as "aks a querstion". She flops the S and K in ask and adds a random R to the middle of question. In her case I believe it was habitual from a young age, as if those she was raised around pronounced it that way regularly. She was a teacher, and was therefore educated, so I'm sure she was aware of the correct pronunciation, but spoke the words almost as if she had an accent. Which I suppose in many ways it is. There are others, which I think actually started out as an unintentional or ignorant mispronunciation, but became popular as a way of establishing yourself as "hood". One example of this I can think of is adding or replacing letters with a C or K sound in words like street or shrimps, because I've heard a few people say "across the skreet" and "eating steak and skrimps", but most of the time I think it's done in jest or ironically anymore.
Joe budden is actually a really great rapper and has some really great emotional songs. I know a lot of Em fans turned on him cus of their issues but he's actually really good.
It is slang the slang, like in Norway we have 19 different languages within depending where you are from, same it is with US, Boston, NYC, Detroit all has their own way, but EM is a study of English he could be a professor *10 thats why the whole world understand what he says even with speedy verses!
That's why eminem and budden beef was personal because eminem signed slaughterhouse and at the time budden was part of slaughterhouse but budden not the best, his lines are usually lame
Damn, put more respect on Joes name. He’s no slouch on the mic bruh. To call him the weakest link back when he was with slaughterhouse is disrespectful. I think the whole slaughterhouse crew were all geniuses in hip hop. They each bring something different to the table. Joe just fell out due to him feeling that Eminem didn’t support the group enough among other reasons he mentioned in his podcast. The truth behind it depends on who’s side you ask, but the bottom line is that everyone in this cypher are highly skilled rappers.
It actually has to do with the way the english language is acquired. UK uses english from the Welsh but American language is based on Welsh, pig Latin and French and the rules in the language doesn't process in everyone's brain equally and those that tries to correct the person gives up, and the wrong way to say things just stuck. On Joe Budden vs Eminem first Joe and Royce technically created Slaughterhouse and Royce wanted it to be a staple at Shady aftermath. The issue was that joe 5hought is em was going to say slaughterhouse was his new supergroup he should do a couple of promos and appearances with slaughterhouse, but the label said the same thing over and over Eminem cant do that, there was also issues where em would push slaughterhouse albums change track list and even change background music to where it sounded like An Eminem album than what they wanted. On top of it . The only person that could talk to Eminem was Nickels or Royce which ever you prefer. Even if you think budden is trash I dont think this slaughterhouse cannot reform with out Joe and he retired
I would really love it if you checked out an artist named Rittz. He is incredibly talented, doesn't have a single bad song at all so I don't even need to suggest a specific one. He rhymes words in ways that are unusual to hear and also is extremely focused on ensuring he has different rhyme schemes in basically every verse he lays to record. He needs more fans and I think you would love him.
Regarding "ask" and "axe", it seems to have to do with regional accents; I never really encountered it while living in California, Hawaii or Florida, but hear it all the time now I live in Virginia.
-Lit reaction your face expressions are priceless lol , New sub -I suggest that you react to more Yelawolf's , Big L's or Chino XL's -React to Yelawolf - Tennessee love , A very powerful song
I know that now... I filmed this video over a month ago and at that point I just knew they had some sort of connection from before but I didn't know exactly what. But thanks for the info.
You dismissed joe before he even started. He was talking about the real life shit he was dealing with at the time and basically saying rapping the last thing hes worried about. Im a huge em fan but em fans act like joe budden is garbage when in reality hes one of the most underrated lyricists to do it. He wouldnt have been signed to shady if he was garbage
I never said he was garbage, just that he wasn't my thing, and that I didn't like his part like I did everyone else's. That's it. You have the right to your opinion and so do I, and every other person and it's perfectly fine.
Imagine a guy spilling his guts about his fucked up mental state and suicidal thoughts And a random idiot bursting out laughing, I’m an eminem fan and I don’t particularly like Joe Budden as a person, but learn respect.
She looks cute and reacts but I feel like she watches some other technical reactors then finds the spots to say “OMG” to. Bcz she. Doesn’t even mention the lines or explain even one bar.
Then you both didn't get it. He was clearly dealing with some real life shit and his 'tired' delivery only exemplified that. Not defending him in general here, cuz he is a wackjob and talks a lot of shit, but for this particular freestyle in this particular instance? Those bars were really solid but everyone just dismisses them over "undoubtedly weaker delivery than everyone else in the cypher", completely ignoring context of what he was talking about. If you have a funeral, feel like the group doesn't care about you, a grandpa with MS, how the fuck are you supposed to be hyper and deliver huge energy in a freestyle? It was just real, is all.
Yeah Joe Budden can actually spit. He's a pretty good lyricist if you actually listen to him. I still hate him but I can't say that he's bad at rapping because he's not bad.
For bars that had no punchlines or witty wordplay, Budden's was the realest. Dude had so much shit going on with his life but like people in the comments, no one gave a shit, even when he was conveying what he's been through in this Cypher, people only gave a shit about the verse which is basically the exact same thing he even pointed out in his part.
I love it when people hear Slaughterhouse and think OMG these guys are insane, the absolute best of the best lyrically then Em jumps on and totally blows them out the water and shows everyone there's even another level to this shit. Mind boggling brilliance.
True.
