Possibly. They could also be supports for the jig itself at a tables edge to steady the whole setup so it isn't as top heavy. I'll play around with it some more in a few days and report back in this post 👍
@@CBL138 thank you sir, I really appreciate that! A million subs would be nice, but I also like the fact that my channel is small enough that I can pretty much keep up with and reply to comments as they come in. I can see where it would get pretty tough as a channel grows!
I tried out a couple of things and here is what I found: facebook.com/622235554778488/posts/1312527225749314/ You should be able to see the post even if you don't have a Facebook account 👍 I wish there was a way to post pictures in the UA-cam comments but I understand that would open up a whole different can of worms for the YT folks to police so Facebook seemed like a good place to share the findings.
That home made wooden one was cool. Whoever made that had a pretty good idea. All those "issues" you mentioned could easily be taken care of with the addition of a heavier spring and some washers I think.👍💯
Could the notches on the bottom of the wooden arm be for rubber bands to help hold the rod?

The Fishing Hobby surprised you don’t have a million subs. Keep putting out great content, you’re get there. Take care. Tight lines.

Wow man great explanation. You noticed quite a bit about the mass produced one and the vintage one. Really cool.
Man you really come up with some cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!

Thanks! Things are going pretty well so I'll keep doing my thing 👍

It is pretty limited still because the arms don't move around from side to side. It is a very creative jig though. I like it👍
I've seen the Herters wrapping vice attached upside down on a table edge, and the loops supported the rod a bit more.
I didn't try that, but I did mount it horizontally and it worked better. Still more of a collector item than something I'd use.
