The shape and design is rather amazing used to race 12 me and stuff all offshore on conventional halls I love the idea of a trimaran with the foils so that you can pull it up out of the water I'm a retired Navy veteran and I can tell you right now you'd be blown away with what they've done to the ships and everything else they've got everything to wear it it's just a mind-blowing thing and you've never seen a boat that big go that fast other than that I hope everybody's doing good and yeah I can't wait until they start showing trials and everything else on this there was another post that was put up to was about the same way but it's like people are stringing you along but I don't blame them no problem as long as they're not sitting there with their hand out like the politicians and everybody else that's doing wrong thank you UA-cam is educational informational it it's amazing thing you guys did so good here so Bravo Zulu

People can argue the performance to an extent, but most days yachts are at port / buoy, meaning the interior is alpha and omega! Its like a laptop computer, you can take it on the way to somewhere, but not a whole lot of people use it while walking, you buy another boat for such.. this is a luxury apartment on a hull :)
And it sure looks great ^v^

If you search Sunreef Power 210 you will find concept renderings of the trimaran yacht that look like it has been on the water(it hasn't). The yacht is 210' LOA and the spaces between the center hull and the sponsons are an incredible design feature and it looks as though the Hanstaiger has a similar design.
I would hate to guess the price of the Sunreef, maybe $30,000,000 or more.

Firstly let me say I'm a big fan of multihull craft, especially trimarans b/c I used to own one. It was much smaller, 24' and was powered by a 700hp big block gas engine which propelled the boat to 90mph.
Has covid slowed your build time very much? When do you estimate HS1 will be ready for sea trials(or shakedown cruise love that song lol). I would want two wind turbines(like Jaques Cousteau's boat), more diesel power with water jet drives and maybe an electric harbor drive.
The prices you mention seem very modest for everything the boat offers. If I hit the Lottery I will put a down payment on the next one. Well done reaching out to David Seal, my top sales guy on youtube.

Thank you for the update David, nice info.
Yes, this is 'different' and the obvious gains are style, space, unique and possibly running costs (compared to a standard luxury yacht).
Will there be a version with both sail and performance engine?
Where I'm 'going' with this question is, I like the idea of motoring (up to about 30 knots) with an option to use a sail at around 10 knots.
Another unique great feature would to have maybe the front section (of the center hull) 'break away' and become the tender, because this boat is very wide and anchoring off would be the usual option.

It's emerging that trimaran boats are an ideal combination of stability and hydrodynamic efficiency, for a cost penalty though. But like you said, the deck area for any given size is awesome and you can have more or higher decks too because of the great stability in roll. With 3 hulls, you can play around with different bow configurations, I notice all three here are X-bows but you could have an Axe-bow for the centre hull and X-bows for the outer.

I like it , although I wonder about protection of the running gear [ prop, prop shaft and rudder ] . With so many things that can hit the prop and rudder on shallow draft boats I have always thought of protection of those very important pieces of gear .

    • @johnordovas9435
      @johnordovas9435 4 роки тому +4

Hi! Thank you for your comment. The biggest protection the prop, shaft and rudder have is the fact that they sit above the hull structure in front (so if hitting rocks moving forwards, the hull will always hit first). The rudders have also been designed with a break default line, meaning that if an impact its strong enough to cause it to break, it will do so in a manner that would allow the rudder to remain operational.

For sailing yachts, the weather plays a large part in the duration of trips, how much food storage will be on the yacht and how long could you expect the crew and passengers to be fed before needing replenishment? This goes for every bigger block of machinery - if you have bad access to your engines (or ACUs, or whatever), It might be extra handy to have a possibility, to disconnect the block from whole system, and take it out, using winch, pulleys or a crank, plus some resting bench. If you can do that, you will have super great access to the disconnected bock and a LOT of free space in the "engineroom", even if (when full) it is to cramped to turn around, or reach further. This concerns mostly the "enginerooms" under the floor of social area, with access ladder, in wich you need to crawl (if the ceiling "door" is closed). Hope you have bigger, or more maintenance friendly engineroom and other tech-spaces on board. Another point - ever considered hydrogen powered engine, suplied from solar-powered dialisis? Btw - aesteticaly the ship looks like a black bug, or bird, so aesteticaly it should do any harm, if your ship "opens wings". Another point- you should consider utilisation of wave-motion energy generators. Solar does not work in night, or when its dark, wind-energy dos not work when it does not blow, but the waves do tend to move around regardless.

As far as all electric boat are concerned, why not use a combination solar and hydro generator set up. That way as the boat move thru the water it replenishes the batteries while under way. You can afford a smaller solar array using a mixed energy concept it will increase drag but it's clean.

    Cool follow up video.
Would he build one white if requested?
Keep up the good work your doing. I enjoy all your videos. Though cant afford a boat, I can still dream about one and how I would outfit it.

Hello Paulo, thanks for the question. Yes, we can build the boat in white, which actually reduces the production cost significantly, and I think also look great!

Windows (bulletproof?) = weight. Not really going to be a fast boat then. Thanks for the videos though David. It's interesting to see how this designer will try to solve issues that I am pretty sure he has not realised exist yet. Love the "fly-on-the-wall" style without judgement. It opens the airwaves up to maximum trolling and comments section which is what 90% of YTers seem to like.

Window weight is relative. On a performance yacht it might be an issue. However given the overall weight of the yacht and modern advances in glass tech I don't think it will pose much of a hit to performance.

Lancer2204 ...are you even an engineer? You are talking out your arse. Glass weighs a LOT more than carbon fibre composites. "Window weight is relative..". Relative to what? You are just babbling. "...modern advances in glass technology..". More ass fodder. What advances are you referring to? Glass weighs a lot. You need a certain thickness whether its laminated or not. That weighs considerably more than the same area if it had been completed in cfc. So in summary, nothing you said is correct.

My concerns with such a battery bank would be the number of charge cycles it can take before it conks out. Most heavy-duty Li-Ion batteries I know are still quite rubbish at this and are a real hassle to upkeep or replace.

When is the next video being released?
This is number 2 and it's been on UA-cam for the past six months, has the project been completed or did it's progress not get followed and recorded?.
As like thousands of other people I have been waiting patiently for a long time!!!

Cool boat if you have a big crew. Can you imagine having an issue pulling up the anchor, "Captain I can't see the damn thing, how do I know?". Think about cleaning off seaweed or chain wash down as you pull it up. Also this is not a boat to be taken in high seas, it's a boat to cruise the mediterranean and be seen. Surprised no one asked about the design on of the Trimaran. It's different in that all all other Trimarans have a hull that would lift out of the water to enable less drag and higher speeds. Would be odd to see them fly a hull with a rudder and prop out of the water.

That’s nice project this has given me a lot of ideas I am building a solar panel boat catamaran actually I’m gonna take Leopard 44 or 48 and turn this into catamaran solar powered only with a wind turbine and a kite as a back up I don’t understand why create a power bank with 50 kWt power surely you can fit loads more battery in then create power bank of 500 kWt this way you power using Electric motors but any nice video

very intrestng design a bit of cybertruck style look with windows and style (any collaboration with tesla ? ;) ) im very intrested in how the yacht will look with the sail fitting, and what alterrations it would lead to in the design of the enterior and exterior (eventhough its automated) do they have any renderings of a sail fitting ?

Is "Ion Musk" the recluse brother of Elon Musk? Is he even wealthier than Elon? He must build electric powered ships and trains!
I'm loving the Hanstaiger trimaran so far! It's deck is huge and it's a thing of beauty!
I do composite work on aircraft so I recognized the polyester resin filler on the surface of the hull composite structure. Is that a filler that is hydrophobic? I would hope in a boat that it is. Resin fillers have been known to be hydrophilic!

Is there a way to use electric motors instead of diesel and not use the sound proofing and using solar to power the systems on a sail vessel?

    • @lancer2204
      @lancer2204 4 роки тому

I think they answered that... They'd need to change the design to accommodate enough PV to cope. (unless you start removing parts of the hotel load, like air-con, heating etc...)
