So good to see a bunch of work boots all gathered around the bucket. It was a great opportunity to teach, and same with the homeowner. Thanks so much, guys.
Those were really special calls indeed! I'm glad you could get the snakes out of the construction area, Jeff, as challenging as it was, and I'm really glad the workers called you instead of using the tools just to kill the snakes. That went really well all around. Marissa, you are very deft with those tongs! Happy for you that you got to see the sidewinder mama and her family and get them to a safe place. Those were very chubby toads! I like them in my garden but having a dog I'm not sure I'd want them to take up residence full-time... Thanks, guys, for the work you do for the animals and for sharing your days with us.
So no side winders since the 60s well I might have you beat. My hunting partner and myself was pig hunting just south of Lassen volcano. We were traveling at night when we saw in the road ( and quickly scurried up the hill out of sight ) a wolverine . This happened in the 90s . Now I'm in California, and there wasn't supposed to be any wolverine's in California but lately there have been videos of them in the Tahoe area. But I believe we had the first sighting in years.
Baby 🐍 season, & Marissa hit the jackpot!! I also love toads! A California toad lived in our small backyard for years! That was over 2 decades ago. Backyard consists of a small pool, pool deck, & narrow strip of rocks & cacti by the block wall. One corner, closest to the pool, got lots of splashed water from our young sons. I was SO excited, the first time I heard a toad singing in the damp corner. Made a house out of part of a half buried clay plant pot. Toad was around for several years. Such a joy!!!
I love my toad friends outside ❤😂 I feed them stinkbugs, hard to beIieve they eat them but they aren't picky. Eastern American toads. The babies are just too cute 🥰
Sometimes I click on these videos and think how much different can this video be from any snake removal, but each video really is unique, informative, and entertaining. Very happy to have been subscribed for as long as I have been and only wish it would have been sooner.
I know the eastern American toads in my part of the US eat everything. I feed them stink bugs 🤣 so no, they aren't picky at all. Lol and the baby toads are too cute.
I have learned a lot about rattlesnakes, good things! I have never been one to kill a snake so I really appreciate you giving them new homes! Also now my great- granddaughter is watching them also..:)
ChiIdren aren't born fearing snakes, fear is Iearned. My then 2 yr oId son used to wear our corn snake Iike a necklace, used to freak the neighbors out 😂. But he knew to be gentle and to respect, but not fear snakes.
I can NOT believe I was smiling the whole time Marissa was capturing those baby sidewinders. Her excitement is contagious! And those TOADS were cool too. But why would anyone want to get rid of them? The "BOOTS and babies" segment was extra entertaining as well. Way to hunt 'em Jeff! Many kudos to who ever edits RSS feed videos and the entire team on this share!🏆🐍❤This is National Geographic stuff.
Marissa's enthusiasm about her rescue efforts makes me always come back. A new experience for me...Toady toady toady😂 If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be watching as snakes hold no interest for me.
Great video. Love the baby sidewinders. Glad that the construction crew called you guys. That could have ended very badly for the snakes. Thank you for keeping all your videos kid friendly. My 10 year old daughter and my 5 year old son love your videos.
So happy that RS’s efforts are resulting in repopulations such as you found with Marissa’s sidewinders! I know other scholars/enthusiasts will be happy to see them as well. 👍👍👍
Directed @ Marissa: When you released the toads, you should have made Ooom-Pa tuba sounds; upon which the toads would've shouted back, "Shut UP! It's a glandular problem!"...
Reminds me of Jaws but "I think we need a bigger" bucket. It's good you have multiple pains. Probably rarely need more than one but that's a lot of snakes,
Those two calls were the best of the best. Kudos to the entire team; I love watching Jeff and Marissa, but the whole team is good and all share Bryan’s passion for education. The snakes you wrangle are the lucky ones.
I will have to say that Sidewinders are probably my favorite rattlesnakes of them all, even though they are all beautiful 😍 creatures. I've loved 😍 Sidewinders since I was a little kid learning about them in grade school. Marissa is SO LUCKY !! She got to see Baby Sidewinders with their little horns !! AWWWWW ❤️ !! I am so jealous !! I would love to come down and go out on calls with you guys and check out some rattlesnakes. That would be a dream vacation !!
@@yupyupyup4444 Marissa, is that you? Nice to meet you !! You're really awesome!! I really wish I could come out and work with you guys to check out some rattlesnakes 🐍!! I'm an Environmental Sciences student, and I think it would be so cool 😎 to see what you guys do !! Those babies were SO CUTE !! I like how you said they looked like earthworms 😆!!
@@yupyupyup4444 I like how they have little tiny baby strikes too, that is so adorable 😍!! I wish people weren't so scared of these beautiful creatures !!
@@yupyupyup4444 they were SO CUTE 😍!! Sidewinders are my favorite Rattlesnake, I've loved them ever since I was a little kid and learned about them in Encyclopedia Britannica. They are so cool 😎!! It's too bad they're poisonous, I wish I could hold one of those babies !!
Your love and enthusiasm for snakes and reptiles is infectious! Walking the dog and still doing a quick PSA for baby snakes; that is going thr extra mile! AS always so well filmed and perfectly edited. What a gorgeus Sidewinder momma and her babies Marissa. WHOA that was the most helpful crew helping with the Mojave Momma and her babies. Way to keep your cool and get them all out safely Jeff. And so rad Toads can live in the desert!
Wow, what an amazing day for you guys. I always wonder, are there no hybrids between the Mojave and the Western Diamondback? The Batwing Rattlesnake shows, that it's possible and from what i've read it also occures naturally. Great video, keep on going.
I love Marissa’s excitement 😊 I didn’t observe any of the construction crew trying to harm the rattlesnakes with shovels or pipes. They acted like they genuinely care about getting them removed/rescued.
You are right, for the most part they were. There were a few off camera however that would have treated the situation a little differently if it were up to them.
Hands down, this was my favorite video! Both Marissa's and Jeff's calls were so fun to watch unfold...@11:28 Funniest moment during Jeff's release & @15:24 Funniest moment during Marissa's release
I remember my early parenting days and boy talk about new moms going hysterical... ...how was I supposed to know "a baby rattle will stop the crying" meant hand the kid a toy to make noise with? 🐍😲
none been seen since 1967 then you get 6 in one run, somebody needs to go back to camouflage school 😁 baby season is always nice 🤠🐍🐍🐍 I'm also not used to seeing toads in their proper environment, nice to see them not have to be annihilated.
In California we used to get baby rattlesnakes everywhere in April/May. Based on what time you all get babies that doesn't seem to make since April /May seems too early
You may be seeing them at that time, but they'd have been born the previous year. In California, the same as here, rattlesnakes are born in the late summer. They tend to stay hidden for the most part for awhile, which explains your observations.
These big toads can secrete a very strong toxin, so maybe the family had kids or pets that might try to catch them, or maybe they just don't like toads. Here in FL we have invasive cane toads that can get as big as the Sonoran ones in the video and even when small, they are dangerous if pets try to catch them, for example, due to their strong toxin. Otherwise, I agree with you, toads are very useful in a yard; you just have to take precautions with children and pets. Those toads will be happier out in nature.
Not sure these were, but if they're Sonoran Desert Toads, they can be harmful to dogs that lick them, etc. Maybe that's why? Maybe the three of them made a lot of noise? Maybe they were an amphibian gang of crime-fighting vigilantes and the home owners were their arch nemeses? The world may never know.
@@theJohnGaltLine 😆 They do appear to be the Sonoran variety according to the description I found. Anyway toads usually produce some toxins and any this big could still make a dog or cat sick at least. But maybe you're right about their crime-fighting capabilities, too... Imagine one blithely popping out from under the flowers and shrubs while you're pruning.
I know Marissa is a professional but leaning ovet the uncovered bucket while trying to get the baby sidewinders seemed dangerous to me considering a rattlesnake can strike up to 3/4 it's own body length, easily reaching out of the bucket.
Marissa’s genuine glee/giddiness is so sweet and endearing. 😁 That’s someone who truly loves her gig!
❤❤
Marissa worked hard to get here. This makes me happy to see.
Agreed. That joy is awesome. Truly special. ❤

Yes it was!
Side winders are my favorite
So glad you got that call Marissa you were super pumped to be honored with removing mom and the youngins.
I’m so happy I got it also 😊
Marissa hit a herping jackpot in that house! Also thanks for the info about the toads, I was ready to comment and ask.
No reported Sidewinders since 1967!?! What a lucky call! Hard to see in the video but I can imagine their little horns (●'◡'●)
🥰🥰 love baby calls
Now that’s what I call a happy ending, thank you so much for the good news, may they all live long snaky lives

Will two adults in the same hole bite one another
Nope! Rattlesnakes are actually quite social and even calm one another down when together.
What is a sidewinder
a species of rattlesnake known for moving to their side hence the name
Can rattle snakes give birth in your car engine?
