- When working with the conflict between people and wildlife, there are often difficult decisions that need to be made. While out on the last leg of his Tucson trip, Bryan has to experience what is often times the worst part of our job.

sorry to you to put that snake down. When I retired, I was going to volunteer at a dog shelter but that would have been my issue too or I would have fallen in love with the dog and taken it home. I felt sorry for you and could hear it in your voice.
It’s a very hard part of the job.
Thank you so much for showing compassion to these beautiful creatures. Too often snakes are maligned when they should be revered for their role in the ecosystem. I know they are in good hands when you rescue them. I'm sorry you had to put one down today.
Thank you :) It's a rewarding job, but those unfortunate moments keep us focused on the challenge at hand.
Where I live, I worry a whole lot more about getting West Nile Virus from a mosquito bite. My oldest brother got it about ten years ago and spent two months in a coma. He never did recover from it more than just a little bit.
We also have occasional outbreaks of hantavirus, rabies, tularemia, and bubonic plague in the area.
@@RattlesnakeSolutionsthat was a survivable injury it had its tail fractured
Sometimes we have to endure the ugly side to appreciate fully the beautiful side of your work. This is what you are saving many, many snakes from experiencing. Thanks for your sensitive approach to this difficult part of snake relocation.
I feel ya, dude. Sometimes I have to do that when I come across a run over snake still alive while road cruising. It turns something fun into something miserable instantly. They only way to rebound from it for me is to find more snakes after that incident knowing I helped rescue them from being possible roadkill that day/night. Not to hijack your video but I did a video short on this with a glossy snake on my channel. Sorry you had to euthanize but glad you were able to rescue the other snakes, especially that awesome sidewinder!
While I don't like snakes, I appreciate that you care enough to put them out of their pain rather than letting them suffer. Thank you.
I don't like snakes but that made me cry. Stay safe
Sometimes that little bit of empathy is an open door to look at these animals differently.
Thank you for ending the suffering.
Wow. That's a bummer. I live at the end of the hills in Utah and we have a lot of rattlesnakes that will come down the hill looking for food. I don't mess with them... but I've heard my neighbors putting them down if they see 'em. I don't think we have as many "rescue" type people out here as you do there in Arizona.
I'm so sorry to see that your time in Tucson ended on such an unfortunate low note, but I'm glad that you were able to help all the other snakes that you did while you were here.
hmmm i actually cried for the snake and his buddy , bless you my friend
It’s a snake not like it’s a human life or something.
@@bentrujillo6406 yup a snake , all creatures great and small have my respect
A creature created for a purpose within the circle of life. Theres nothing wrong with compassion for a creature and its suffering. Humans arnt the only ones deserving of heart felt compassion. And if reptiles are your favorite critter, then I get it.
Your care and compassion is incredible. The right thing is seldom the easy thing. It takes a real man (or woman). Thank you.
You guys are wonderful with a huge heart. Thank you.
I'm so sorry you have to do that at times, but you know and I know that it is the only option sometimes! I've had to do it with newborn kittens and puppies. Only a few times, but it will ruin everything for a few days! Thank you for all you and your crew do to keep the people and the animals safe! I live in the West Texas desert, and there's no doubt in my mind we have a good many venomous snakes moving around now looking for cool and water. Be safe out there!
I’m really sorry about that. It hurts to even hear about, so it couldn’t have been easy. It’s time to get back to Phoenix on that note!
I’m sorry you had to do that. That is an example of true love, to not let it suffer. 😢
Yeah that's why I quit working as a vet tech in my 20's, I still hate having to do it and I rarely have to but I'll still do the job myself before I'll let anyone else put one of my own down, get out there and save some more it'll help
Who knew I'd ever be so emotional about the loss of a rattlesnake.😢
God bless you for the snake you put down… you’re all heart friend. The animal world needs way more like you. ❤️
Sad, bro. Sorry. Had to euthanize a northern copperhead on my property two years ago. It was struck by a car, and I had my niece who is a veterinarian come over and have a look see. She determined that it had a mortal wound as well. She would have legit tried to save it, but it’s loser end was crushed and broken. Thank you for all you do, brother.
You are such a good person. To care for the innocent is a Godly purpose.
I just stumbled into your channel. Very nice. I'm brand new here and wanted to pass something along. Apologies if others have said it.
Rattlesnakes are pit vipers and recognize two heat signatures - mice and monsters. If you aren't a mouse, you're a monster. It's terrified of monsters and just wants to get away.
I'm a new subscriber. I love your content and your kind heart. Ill be watching brother. Thank you.
People
Are cruel ! There is absolutely no reason to harm or kill a snake . Especially when they can call you guys and you can take them too safely. We are encroaching on their habits . We just keep building and building .
Poor snake 😢
So sad about the snake. Thank goodness you were the one to euthanize it and not some crazy person who would further it’s suffering,
I completely understand your pain, but everything happens for a reason wether we like it or not. Just think of the huge number of snakes you've saved & gave them another day. Keep up the good work. I can tell you look forward to every relocate.
Sorry about the injured snake, did it get run over or someone intentionally hurt it? Or can't tell what happened?
it's kind of impossible to accuretly tell how the snake got wounded without being there to witness it, but most likely the snake was in someone's yard and someone may have tried to use a shovel to kill it and just didn't kill it but seriously wound it. I really wish people would stop killing snakes if you leave them alone they don't bother you
so sorry you had to do that. if not for your business of removing and relocating these animals, would likely happen more often. if that offers you any solace...
Wow, you actually taught me to have compassion for rattlesnakes.
There's far too much suffering in this world and we should not uselessly add to it. Unfortunately, that snake was probably going to die in pain, so euthanizing it was the most humane thing to do.
Brian, I 'm so sorry you had to do what you had to do 😢
That sucks for you & it's a bummer the snake couldn't heal, at least it didn't have to suffer in pain anymore. I don't love snakes but I don't hate them either, that made me so sad..
Well this was a sad video. I often wondered how you would handle a situation like this. It shows that are serious about what you do and your love for these reptiles. I'm glad you didn't leave it out there to starve to death and suffer. It would have been nice to see you on that older cable TV show Mike Rowe's "Dirty Jobs". You two would have made a hilarious episode I'm sure! Something made me think of that.
Sometimes things don’t go like we want them to.
It’s part of the job. I have show Pigeons and quite a few times I have to cull pigeon. I’ve had pigeons for over 55 years, so I learned as young boy you don’t let them suffer.
Could it have been accidental? Like someone closing a gate on it or a garage door? Anything is possible, I guess. Plenty of terrified, narrow-minded folks out there perfectly willing to harm them.
I was just speaking to a coworker who owns horses and she quickly and unequivocally stated that she kills any snake immediately and would not advocate relocation. I didn't waste my breath.
Just give her a disgusted look . That speaks volumes.
I am so sorry to hear that you had to euthanize a snake. Thank you for caring for them and not letting them suffer.
Lovely big houses out there. With nice swimming pools. If we find the pools nice and inviting, especially in that weather, then I’m not surprised that the snakes do!! What a shame about the injured snake. Bad news that he didn’t make it. I’m glad you didn’t show the euthanising and I don’t doubt that you did it as quickly and humanely as possible. Unfortunately I guess things like that happen occasionally. It doesn’t make it nice though.
Every creature has its place/purpose in the Ecco system. I wouldn’t harm one. I admit though mice and rats are nothing but food for snakes
God bless you
I sincerely hope whoever hurt that snake realizes that they hurt a living breathing animal and not some machine.... if you don't like snakes or fear them then just stay away I promise you they don't want anything to do with you either
As a rule of thumb generally people who are afraid of snakes call someone to kill them or call a company like rattlesnake solutions to remove them. You’re trying to apply logic to fear which by nature causes illogical thinking. And the ones who aren’t afraid just don’t care about this opinion sorry.
Well said
Well done.
Am sorry. In vet med we do that all the time. We know how to heal them but also how to euthanize. Stewardship thing.
Question: how soon after birth is rattlesnake venom and bite a real danger to people?
That sucks! Sorry.
How did you euthanize the injured snake ethically and painlessly? I see injured snakes around my place a couple times a year. What's the right way to do it?
☹ RIP little guy.
Oh, I’m so sorry you had to put the snake down. I’m glad you left the remains to join the ecosystem. Again, I know that hurts. Thanks…
What is the latest on relocation
Some say 90% morality rate
Is relocation the lesser of the evil so to speak vs killing them?
Looks like car damage. I see it much to often road cruising.
If I find a snake on the road that has been run over but is still alive, I'll go ahead and kill it because there is no chance it can survive.
There was also one that I killed because it was just outside the front door and I didn't have any way to relocate it at the time. To walk up to the front door, one would have to pass within about six inches of the rattlesnake. Once I get some snake tongs, I'll be in better shape to relocate it instead of killing it if it is just outside the door.
By far the most common rattlesnake around here is the prairie rattler. I think that the 40 inch snake tongs should work fine for them.
If you had left it alone it probably would just leave. In hot areas they are looking for water. Too bad.
What does your company charge for their services?
I am sorry 😞
Is there an easy guideline for how you make your decision? I would've guessed if it was in the tail section, past the vent, it would've had a chance to recover. However, it looks like that's where that snake was injured. Fortunately, most of the snakes I encounter are just passing through, so it hasn't been a worry yet. I'd hate to kill a snake that has a chance to recover or leave a fatally injured one to die slowly.
😢😢😢
Run into any Mojave rattlers during your run to Tucson?
Often, and around Phoenix as well. We also have a pair in our captive collection, and a bunch of babies that are being distributed to zoos and institutions currently. They're great.
When you put them in pack rats nest what’s the pack rat do they work the rear of the building these things they just build another one

Need a real answer on how to lure and kill an aggressive water moccasin that has been here for 15 days in a pool area that has a very different and extensive rocked and Boulder formation and water slide. Thought it was gone after searching hours daily thought it was gone but yesterday it appeared and swam towards teen getting into pool and narrowly avoided getting attacked. Have witnessed it climbing out of pool in locations during a lightning storm and then at night. Next time it comes out from wherever how in the heck can I kill it without making contact. It is a mostly enclosed area against house and other side tall wall can't use a shotgun, pistol due to ricochet. Have a BB gun but it's single shot pump every time the snake is very fast I feel like a powerful fully automatic paintball gun would definitely work and still be humane and am experienced with high-end paintball guns but don't have one at this moment will need to borrow one or purchase one for talking a over 1K but maybe there's a much better option. We've tried everything we can think of and spend hours searching with binoculars 200 zoom camera and every nook and cranny that we can get to I just need to be ready when it comes out to show itself again again it's been 2 weeks
Killing it won't help you - you have perfect habitat for the animals, and others will come. They're not aggressive, though it might seem that way especially with the inherent fear. The last thing you want to do is shoot BB's into the animal - then you'd have an injured snake. Do you have a photo of it that you can send to us?
@@RattlesnakeSolutions our screen is usually intact but our county had freak hailstorm 2 months ago, wait list for repairs. South Central Florida so yes but 2 weeks and its a tough decision this time but my family is at risk
@@terrim4116 Have you been able to take any photos of the snake?
@@RattlesnakeSolutions have been searching again for hours today with 200 zoom with camera, phones, binoculars.
Snakes are defensive not aggressive. Although it seems like it. You have many herpers in Florida. Have you tried to contact someone who will remove the snake and take it to a safe area? Go on UA-cam and search Herpers, snake rescues or venomous snakes. You will probably find someone to help. Please don’t harm the snake.
I am amazed that people can't handle a small snake.
That's terrible
😢
I'd like to hear what the snake haters have to say about this. Are their opinions censored on this channel? (As has often been said,;"There's two sides to every story".
I'm sorry.
Thanks for making the compassionate decision to euthanize the snake.
Why would you assume somebody did that to the snake on purpose? Tons of predators that could of done that, probably a racoon.
It was a wound from a sharp, flat instrument, most likely a shovel.
I am sorry you had to euthanize the injured snake.
Know what would ruin MY day? If a rattlesnake bit one of my beautiful horses! This happened to a friend of mine, who spent a small fortune trying to save her horse, just to end up having to euthanize him. Rattlesnakes are a pestilence to people like myself.
I guess you're learning that different people have different preferences. For me, wildlife is important, and I really don't care for horses.
@@RattlesnakeSolutions, Learning? I’m in my sixties, so yes, I’ve had that concept down for some time now! And I enjoy wildlife very much, so feel bad for those poor desert rats 🐀 that you fed to the rattlesnakes. 😢 But seriously, I admire what you do. I imagine you’ve kept a good number of children, or foolish adults, from getting bit. So order a pizza 🍕 and get back to work!
Who Pays For All This Nonsense,,,, ??
I am so sorry you had to deal with that, Bryan. 🥲
