How do you determine de parameters (rpm and welding speed) for FSW?. I´m making a project on FSW but after welding i do radiographic examination and there is many lack of fusion, maybe due to an excess in the welding speed. Please give me your comments. Thanks
you can perform the process in many different materials, steel, aluminum, copper and others. It is also possible to weld a joint with 2 different materials.
there are many parameters involved in the process, for exemple: speed rotation, translation speed, geometry and material of the tool, material of the joint, thickness of the joint. I think it is incorrect to consider the increase in rpm always increase the strength.
Upto certain rpm the strength increases...further increase in rpm results in turbulent material flow leading to decrease in strength..Also at loo low rpm strength decreases due to inadequate stirring and material flow..
You solder with a nut and a screw soft materials like aluminum, ... and without gas, ... but you can not weld hard materials like steel and less hard and highly reactive like titanium, .... because the probe is destroyed leaving traces inside the material ... We weld any plate of titanium aluminum or austenitic steels with laser and gas from both sides at the same time, ..... SYMMETRICAL AND ASYMMETRIC WELDING for monocoque of the Navy and aviation
